I was one of the few Sens supporters that advocated for the trade of David Rundblad (Kyle Turris). Last year Taylor Hall was traded for a very good #2 D in Larsson. Love Chabot, he is a number 1, but he cannot displace Karlsson.

Two players that would cause the Sens to rethink their position on Chabot is McKinnon and Draisaitl.

Tim Thomas won the Stanley Cup, Vezina and Conn Smythe at age 37.
- Cape Breton Bruins

Tim Thomas is an outlier though. the vast majority of goalies fade pretty heavily post-35. Belfour was pretty good for the Leafs, at age 37. He went downfill from there in hurry. And that's a vezina winning goalie. Martin Brodeur, one of the best goalies in history, was great up until about 37, then he fell off a cliff. He was a below average goalie for the last few years of his career.

There are very few goalies that make it past age 35. The very best make it to 36 or 37. Counting on Anderson to play like Tim Thomas did at his age, is not reasonable. Tim Thomas is an anomaly in just about every way. The chances of Craig Anderson being a starter caliber NHL goalie for another year, are probably not great. 50/50? To be a top 5 or 10 goalie? Very low. Starter caliber for 2 more years? Pretty slim. 3 more? Damn near zero. It's just a reality of someone his age.

#1 D is as much a role as it is a position.

There is no doubt Chabot is projected as an NHL #1D.

But as long as Karlsson logs 27 minutes a game there is no portal for Chabot to play an expanded role.

Sorry, it is pretty basic. #2 is not your 2nd best Dman. #2 plays with #1 and plays the defensive more physical, complementary role. #3 is the lead Dman on your second unit. #4 is paired with #3. #5 and #6 play together on your 3rd unit.

Not sure Karlsson would be an effective #2. Not sure Chabot is suited to play as a number 2.

I am fine with Chabot as a 3 or 5. He will not be a #1 in OTTAWA for many years. I am also okay with Ottawa being open to dealing Chabot. I was not in favour of Chabot for Drouin. It was discussed extensively. But there are young players that make sense. If Draisaitl holds out for $75m. over 8 years Edmonton gets caught in a Wicked squeeze. They will do what is best for the Oilers. But I just don't see them wanting to start next year with $28.5m committed to 3 centres.

Chabot is the real deal. Lots of scouts think he is going to be a dominate NHL Dman. I don't if he is as good as the scouting services report. He might be better. But, very good chance, his trade value may never be higher than it is today.

Unlike most Sens fans, I would be open to dealing Chabot for a substantial piece coming back.

while reading the first few sentences you came across as a rambling idiot who knows nothing about the game so I saved myself some time and stopped reading. So I can't really comment on your post other than to say you're an idiot. Hopefully you take this opportunity to clean up your act instead of responding in your usual defensive wounded manor

Just because you play an insane trap game doesn't mean the goaltending wasn't superb. Ottawa absolutely had great goaltending. You're daft if you think otherwise.

No, I fully saw that. How many games he played is irreverent. All that matters is how he was when he did play. And he was great. And in his absence, Condom played way way above his head. The reason Anderson got back in the net, even though Condom played really well, is because he was even better.

Your sieve brain retains nothing you're told.

condon is one of the better backups in the league and as long as his age doesn't finally catch up to him anderson has the ability to put up great numbers as a starter. goaltending probably won't be a concern but it's not a guarantee.

Anderson is very reliable, too. You can always count on him to regress after a good season.

More than satisfied that my few posts each day can keep the blue kool aid brigade fuelled for revenge over several new pages each day. Dopps seems to easily achieve the same result. Neither of us resort to personal slanders and we avoid the use of scatological rhetoric.

This summer is not much different than previous summers. Leaf fans avoiding talking about what is. Pretending the season and playoffs never happened the way they happened.

This past year was a joyful year for Sens fans. There is nothing that you can say or do that changes what we experienced. Never really have understood the jealousy of Leaf fans. The Leafs had a nice year. Yet you remain so filled with resentment and bitterness about the success of others. So sad.
