I have no difficulty with Chabot starting in Belleville. But he will not stay long. Karlsson did 15 games.
- spatso

Chabot is not Karlsson ........... Chabot will stay a lot longer than you think he will.

Ottawa lost Methot to the expansion draft, and that was enough to make the Senators defensive Corp weaker than last years, and inserting a rookie, into the top 4, as you are suggesting is not going to improve the overall defensive corp.

Chabot will stay in Belleville until such time he proves he knows his defensive responsibilities at the pro level, knows the "Boucher system" and earns a call up over other potential call ups (from Belleville) who have already played much more in the NHL and proven they can play Boucher's system.

“He wanted to go to a team that had a chance to win,” Dorion said Monday. “I know for a fact that a team offered him more money and he chose to go to (Ottawa) just for the reason that he felt it was a better fit and they have a better chance to win.”

-TSN

On Oduya signing with Ottawa. No reason to believe that the team he said "no" to was the Leafs. But, we know that Condon did say "no" to the Leafs. Leafs go forward with huge questions in nets and on the blueline.

C'mon man......... let's use a little common sense.

Chabot is on a two way contract, for the next three seasons, and Ottawa already has SEVEN defense men signed to one way contracts for this coming season.

What logical reason would Boucher choose to sit Borowiecki and or Wideman, and let Chabot learn the NHL pro game, on the fly, in the NHL?

Let's think about your "suggestion" that Chabot would be matched with Phaneuf ........... Phaneuf is much more of a "shutdown" type of D man, and that's the role he played, and excelled at last year with Ceci ............. so is Chabot known as a "shutdown" type of D Man, or perhaps more of an "offensive" type of D man?

Why do think Chabot is going to waltz into the NHL, with 07:06 minutes total of pro experience, and displace regular NHL D men from the roster?

- D0PPELGANGER

What if he shows in pre-season that he is capable of being effective in the NHL. Don't you have to at least give him his 9 games?

It's true the Leafs have many more questions than the Sens... In fact, there really is only one question about the Sens worth asking this coming season: "How much will they regress- just miss the playoffs, or will they have a legit shot at #1 overall?"

I hope it's the former, but the latter seems possible, given their performance last season.

It would take a bit of maneuvering by Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello to be able to fit Markov’s salary in. It would likely make it necessary for Toronto to find a home for the salary of veteran forward Eric Fehr ($2 Million) and one of either Martin Marincin ($1.25 Million) or Alexei Marchenko ($1.45 Million).

Moving Fehr might be a challenge unless Toronto were to add a draft pick in a trade, but Marincin or Marchenko could be dealt to a team like Colorado with critical depth issues on defense.

Markov would make a formidable top-four option for either for Morgan Rielly (who would have to shift over to the right side) or with the right-handed Nikita Zaitsev, his teammate on Team Russia from the World Cup of Hockey.

We don't know for sure that a team starved for offense, like the sens, didn't reach out to Marleau. But we do know that if they had an owner willing to spend some coin, and not encumbered with many bad contracts, Marleau would have probably turned them down anyways.

You have proven multiple times that you don't know anything about the Leafs' cap situation. Why do you continue?

Just for the record I want it noted that I was very early in the calling of old geezer Markov to the Leafs. Too funny.

thing is, we're not talking about a recent pick that is not eligible for ahl.

we're talking about a 20 year old man who looked good skating with 17 year old kids.

You know how this pleases me.

Based on their performance last year? Pst, they went to ECF. Remember when I told you last year that knowledgable insiders were predicting the Sens would be the dark horse team in playoffs. Well, get ready, they will come out of the gates much stronger and harder than last year.

Weak.

WJC is essentially a tournament of 19 year olds.

"You chose them because you think this is one of the teams that has the best chance to win another Cup before you're done hockey, fair?"- James Duthie

"100%"-Ron Hainsey

Only difference is that one guy was sought after and signed right away once free agency started and the other is Oduya, who signed a month after free agency started because no one wanted him.

You must be a glutton for punishment.

Their performance predicts a massive decline. Keep up your summer talk, though!
