there is derp all over the Sens thread also.

Apparently, there is only one team in the way of the Sens, Pittsburgh.

It is like no Sens fan is capable of seeing what breaks they got all through these playoffs and they actually think they are the second best team in the NHL

Funny how Leaf fans still have difficulty with overall results, scoreboards and standings. So, when the Leafs have a sophomore stumble next year we will be listening to some other variation on the lack of relevance of actual outcomes.

Logan Brown was a non-factor at the Memorial Cup. Much like he was for the half a season that he played for Windsor. And the 7 games in the OHL playoffs.

When your team is full of older players it's only natural to look to the future and obsess about prospects. We Leaf fans did this for years. From Kadri to Tlsuty. From Pogge to Percy. From Ross to Colaiacovo. Then we got actual good young players finally blossoming in the NHL. From Matthew to Reilly. Marner to Brown. Nylander to Kap. No Leaf fan bothers with the prospects outside the league anymore. No need to wish and dream. We have the real deals

Sens are where we used to be. Older core. Dim future. Questionable management...no wonder they're hoping and dreaming for something to come their way. Because their roster is at their peak potential and in many cases passed it.

- systemtool

Curios, why would you cite a list of "older" core players that includes Chris Neil and Chris Kelly. They have already been advised that they will not be offered contracts for next year. On the other hand, your list does not include the young guys like Chabot, White and Harpur that are destined to be part of next year's roster.

Now this is how you spell mismanagement. "NHL clubs can exceed the $75 Million salary cap by 10% because injured player’s salaries count against the cap during the summer. The Leafs are currently $3.92 Million over the cap, which would leave slightly over $3.5 Million to re-sign Brown, but according to Cap Friendly, there are other factors that count against the cap during the off-season that leave Toronto with just $421,062 available."

Funniest part of the age comparison is that the Sens are at 29.4 and Leafs at 28.4. Once you make adjustments for young guys coming into Sens line up and old geezers being added to Leafs...Sens likely start the season with a younger average age than Leafs. So incredibly ironic.

Difficulty?

It has been comedy gift that keeps on giving.

Dude, give it a (frank)ing rest.

It is funny to watch the last few weeks. Sens fans DESPARATELY trying to get hope from any possible negative regarding the Leafs... even negatives that don't exist at all.
Meanwhile, their solution to their own internal cap issues is to simply buy out Ryan and Phaneuf. They don't even seem to be aware of what that says about Ryan and Phaneuf, or consider whether their cheap-ass owner wants to spend millions for mahy years, for nothing.

Really? Weeks ago?

Perhaps you missed the fact the Leafs just signed 3 guys with combined age total in the range of 115 years. All them are older than anybody on Sens roster.

You guys are sucking air. It is no different this year than any other year.

PS Sens went to game 7 of ECF.

Who cares? what you dont get is the 2 year window the Leafs have to take advantage of the ELC of their Core players who are the ones that drive the team.

the 3 players are bit parts in this, add ons ..not what the Leafs are counting on the drive success. They signed them for an avg of 2 years. Does not change anything

Sens core and better players are in or passed their prime for the most part.

the opposite is true for the Leafs.

so satisfying to know we have less long term albatross contracts to boot

Leafs set up well for a long time. Sens set up for a questionable future. you can see it in their thread from fan reaction.

Uh, yeah, nowhere did I say weeks ago.

You fail harder every day. You are so rattled that the rest of the league just laughs at your improbable glory run to the 28th pick, that apparently you can't read.

PS Sens no cups
PS Leaf 4 Sens ZERO in playoffs
PS Sens 28th pick
PS Stuck with 20 million in bad contracts on a budget team

Our older guys are temporary role players. Your older guys are anchors.

Sorry man, Sens still haven't won anything and are about 2 years from being the Canucks. Don' worry though, we'll be here to enjoy it, even if you won't

A dman from the Q and a forward from US College who is worse than Jimmy 27-Point Vesey and a Hal Gill clone, who isn't as good as Hal Gill, are going to save them. They think they are trending up to a Cup next year and only Pittsburgh is in their way!

Here is the Core players I can come up with, 3f 3d (age by end 2017 start of 2018)

Hoffman 28
Turris 28
Stone 25
Karlsson 27
Phaneuf 32
Ceci 23
Avg = 27.16

Matthews 20
Marner 20
Nylander 21
Rielly 23
Zeitsev 26
Gardiner 27
Avg = 22.83

The Leafs have exactly 1 player over 30 signed past the 2018-19 (its 1 season of Marleau)

Sens have Dion and Ryan..who are huge crap contracts
