Spatso spends so much time talking about how the leaf fans summer talk and saying they over estimate their prospects value and impact and how they plan the parade

Then now he's saying he was trumpeting the leafs as playoff material after Christmas and how they are a dark horse to upset 1st round in the playoffs more so than leaf fans who are saying the leafs weren't making it or that they didn't care.

Which was it? Did leaf fans plan the parade or did they not care?

Many Leaf fans coming down the stretch said the Leafs would not make the playoffs or if they did they would be crushed by Washington in 4 straight. Go back and check the postings. You will see that I said the Leafs will make the playoffs and they are a highly dangerous opponent for any team, including Washington.

Ok

Considering where they were and how they were playing what choice did you have? Pretty big change from 3 months earlier when you talked about how they were worse then last year.

I believe it was "dead last in the league, with less points than the year before".

Seeing a team on the rise like this is sure to rattle a team going nowhere.

But being able to continue that into next year is a lot more challenging and I need to think about what happens when other teams play them more assertively.

- spatso

Being able to continue winning more games than losing while getting outscored and picking up a few dice roll points in the shootout is more challenging to continue than anything.

But hey, who knows, maybe the dice gets rolled the sens favour again next year, more often than not. Maybe the roll of the dice even decimates the sens first round opponent (even though, Vegas odds doubt they get that far), and you get past a round.

But my bets are on the Leafs winning the division next year. Them or Tampa. Montreal has a shot, all depending on Price. The rest are non-factors.

Leafs will pay a huge price this year because they are so weak on the backend. They got off lightly last year when lot of teams went off their A game to play pond hockey with them. It won't happen this year and the Leafs will have tougher nights in terms of the defensive play they encounter.

Having said that I expect the Leafs to contend for a playoff spot and if they hang in until Christmas they could have a strong second half.

I expect the Sens to continue on from their playoff run and win their Division. I expect the addition of one major piece up front before the season opens.

Yeah, because it hurt them so much last year, and there is no way having some of the top young dmen outside the NHL, playing in a professional league, plus having $25M in cap space AND budget for the best management team in the league to play with, will enable them to improve. No way no how.

Strange thing to say considering they finished with MORE pts last year while finishing 30th than they didn't 2 yrs ago when they were 4th last

Adding 3 elite talents in marner nylander sand Matthews wasn't going to make impact but adding middling prospects is going to catapult sens

Protected lists out.

Leafs expose Kerby Rychel, Leipsic, and Brian Boyle. Nothing really of note.

sens expose claesson, Methot, Clarke Macarthur, Bobby Ryan.

If I'm Vegas, I'm taking either Claesson or Methot. Personally, I'd like to see them take Methot, because karlsson's numbers are historically pretty horrible without him (this year, Ottawa was average with them both on the ice, below with just karlson. In past years, they've been bad with both of them on the ice, and bottom of the league with karlson and not Methot), so I'd love to see what happens if he's taken.

I'd actually be interested in trading for Methot too, if he came reasonably inexpensive, from Vegas. He's the most dependable dman they have. I'd love for the Leafs to go to LV, and tell them they can take Leipsic, and we'll trade them Rychel and second too, to take Methot and pass him to us.

Kind of goofy even for you. Claesson played very well with Karlsson. Phaneuf was solid with Karlsson.

When Sweden plays they use several different players paired with Karlsson as their #1 unit. The idea that Methot is going to play at the same level partnered with a lesser talent is silly.

Nice twist. You said they didn't lose more than two in a row, when you proven wrong you change your criteria.

Lame.

you can call it goofy all you like. the goals against per 60 with karlson on the ice has skyrocketed when not with methot for quite a few years now. i would love to see what happens.

You should avoid doing this kind of statistical cherry picking. I know that you know that GA/60 has little meaning unless put in the context of GF/60 as well as quality of competition and game situation. Karlsson is on the ice for a huge amount of time and his GA/60 tends to realistically mirror the Sens overall performance as a team leading up to their ECF overtime loss.

You need to put in perspective that Karlsson plays huge minutes against every other teams best players and continues to produce at an unbelievable level.

Remember at 27 Karlsson is just entering into his peak performance years for a #1 D and he has already put a choke hold on a HHOF nomination.

Funny, how only Leaf fans want to question the incredibly gifted super Swede Dman that is captain of the Sens....a very great captain and leader. Only a Leaf fan would say that Karlson would be a 3rd or 4th best Dman on the Leafs.

first, the bolded is not true. his GA per 60 has historically been wayvhigher than team average. and second, it's historically even higher than that without methot, by a wide margin.

and you're last statement contradicts years of senaturds fans telling us that "it's impossible to get easy deployment when you're playing so many minutes, you end up playing all the teams other lines and it all averages out". so we can ignore that statement i assume.

and several seasons of stats is hardly cherry picking.

I am an early riser. I am usually up at 4:00 am to say my prayers..

After that I check out any urgent emails/messages from work and finally, I allow myself and hour for my hockey passion including reading all the papers, blogs etc.

So, you can only imagine my wonderment in reading your postings from last night. My first thought is that some of you are beginning to experience a hockey version of Stockholm syndrome as a result of a very long season. Or, some of you genuinely misunderstood what others were saying.

In the end, I concluded the obvious. Perhaps one or more or all of you were drinking and the postings from last night is some form of slurred keyboard speech.

Talk on TSN1200 this morning of giving Vegas the Sens 2017 1st to Keep Methot
