Sens are now perennial contenders. The playoff run this year PROVED they are the 3rd
best team in the league with nothing but blue-chippers in the pipeline.

I can’t wait for the sens summer optimism and hopefulness as speculation of the guaranteed Duchene trade gets ramped up. After that fails, it will be quickly followed by the eventual crowning of Jay McClement as the true savior and player that will lead the sens to the cup.

On a more serious note, it will be interesting to see if Vegas can be enticed to take Ryan or Phaneuf off their hands.

Since Sens fans seem to think these guys are great, and key contributors, it will be ineresting to see how happy they get if Vegas does them a HUGE favor.

Just opens the door for even better players to come in, like Brown and Chabot.

NOTHING IS EVER BAD FOR THE SENS!

That's not true, the parking at the arena is definitely bad. Everyone agrees.

and it affected him all the way through the playoffs eh?

Must be serious.

Brown played really well in the playoffs. I wonder if sometimes some of you even follow hockey.

I don't think Duchene is a target for anyone anymore. His end of season performance and World Championship efforts has given some real doubt into his actual appeal.

I guess you missed the playoffs. Sens had a great run. Came within one goal of the finals. Next year is looking great.

As a Leafs' fan, I fully agree.

We'll get to see the Leafs' youngsters continue to grow, AND be treated to Sens fans trying to figure out why their team is regressing.

I am fine with Ryan moving on. He had a good playoff run and is a great guy in the dressing room and very popular with his team mates. But he is not a very good skater and I think his game is in decline.

Phaneuf is another matter. He has been a great influence on all the young guys and with Chabot and Harpur likely starting next year his presence would be very good.

Yes you have been saying that for a very long time. Leafs wimped out, falling to an underperforming Washington team.

On the other hand, Sens took Boston in 6, New York in 6 and lost to the Pens in 7.

But, clearly the Leafs have a great summer game ramping up as we head into the draft.

I suspect that if Vegas takes Phaneuf, the narrative will become about how you fleeced the Leafs by dumping garbage salaries for two years of great leadership and play out of Phaneuf and you still aren't stuck with that contract for 4 more years.

Sens would be fine if either were selected ........... I would not like to see Ryan go though.

Ottawa has some pretty good depth on D, after seeing both Harpur and Claesson play well for a number of regular and playoff games this spring .......... both could easily step into the roster ........... and there's that Chabot guy who should end up playing in Ottawa at some point in the next season......... so the loss of Phaneuf would not be the end of the world ....... except for spatso perhaps.

What makes you think the leafs current roster will be any better than they were last year, when they pretty much over achieved as group.

Do you know of any additions that will be brought in to improve the roster?

The assumption is that rookies get better.

This does happen.

Injuries also happen, and sophomore slumps happen also.

The thing is, injuries are a wild card for everyone and Sophomore slumps don't always happen, and not to truly excellent prospects. All of the big 3 exceeded Eichel's rookie production (I think). It is not unreasonable to expect at least 2 of the 3 will not run into the sophomore slump.

The numbers Dopps. The numbers, and the early acocmplishments of an extremely young team is too good to simply waive off.

Additions are pretty likely considering the status of a couple contracts on players who do have value... go look up production per salary on a JVR or a Bozak. It makes them pretty valuable, even for a year. In addition, the Leafs have some cap space to play with. I don't think they used their LTIR room last year, and likely won't have to this year.

Yeah, anything can happen, but the REALITY is that it is likely the Leafs make one significant addition, also likely that one of the young D in the system or one of the new Swedes on D is able to crack the lineup. It is more likely that VERY young players get better rather than worse.

If I had to predict, I would say they will be in the mix again, in a very crowded battle for a playoff spot, since Tampa, and about 5 other teams in the east could all be better.

Frankly, I expect the Sens to win the Atlantic next year. I see Montreal falling back to second or 3rd.

Sens played their new system, that was geared to the talents on the team, and once they were a couple of months into the season, they were playing up to their potential.

In fact, I don't think they lost more that two consecutive games, in regulation, for the entire season ......... so pretty consistent.

The leafs on the other hand will have a hard time repeating the season the had in 2016-17.

Not me, I think, as you and others have pointed out, that teams like the Lightning, Panthers and Sabres will be better next season, and all three could end up higher in the standings than both Ontario teams. I see the Bruins and Habs slipping a bit................. but let's see what trades and or signings are made over the summer before anyone nails down their predictions for the next season.

lol. sens fans completely out of touch with reality after a fluky C.I.N.D.E.R.R.E.L.L.A. run.

Sens overperformed, driven by a hot goaltender.

Tell me, in his time with the Sens, how has Anderson done the season after a good season?
