And "proper funding" got the leafs eliminated in the first round.

Ottawa played three rounds this year........... the leafs have played two rounds since 2005.

Look, we all know you're super jealous of the Senators great playoff round.......... they were within one goal of the Finals, but lost to the defending Cup Champs, and the favorites to win the Cup this year.

The leafs have been golfing for about a month now, so your little shots at the Sens have little effect on Sens fans ........... or anyone else who have been watching the Sens through three playoff rounds. We all know the Senators had a much better season this year than the leafs ......... so save your pathetic attempts to spin it the other way until next year ................. anymore posts trying to alter the reality of this season is be wasted and only proves the intense discomfort you and leaf fans like you have had for the past month ............ you're super jealous, and would have hoped the leafs would have had the same playoff run the Sens just completed, but they didn't because the Senators, once again are the better of the two Ontario teams, as they've been since the lock out.

- D0PPELGANGER

It's true, my little shots are just a drop in the ocean of the Sens fans' inferiority complex, that even the Ottawa media is reporting on.

Man, all it took was one sentence for you to go off with paragraphs worth of deflecting.

So rattled. So insecure.

I love how he doesn't even argue that they're not properly funded.

The funny part is, the Leafs are not "properly funded" right now, aka maxed out on salaries and cap hits. Because they weren't trying to compete for the cup.

So, the entire argument that "proper funding" didn't get the Leafs anywhere is flawed in it's very premise.

Great Season, great Play off run, last Canadian team standing.............. now the long wait for next season.

It was a great run, and a lot of fun for you guys.

Unfortunately, I think that was your window. A whole ton of things conspired to get you to where you were. A lot of those things also helped the Leafs even get a playoff spot.

I just don't see Ottawa good enough now, or with enough coming up and with that ownership, being able to keep up.

Reality for you...

Phaneuf 32, chewing up 7.0 of your budget for the next 4 years.... ROFL, talk that one up any way you want. He sucked.

Ryan, 30, chewing up 7.25 of your budget for 5 years. Had some bright spots in playoffs been useless for the year... will not improve at this point

MacArthur 32, 4.65 for 3 more years

Zack Smith 29, 3.25 for 4 more years

Turris, 27 Good second line center. At 27 he is not going to become more than that. He has one more year, and then he is going to get more than 4.

Anderson 36, Burrows 36, Methot 32, Brassard 29 ... not going to get better.

So 9 guys who are going to decline at this point. 4 guys making 22+ on a budget team, who are not tradeable,

You have Karlsson @6.5 for 2 more years... what do you think it takes to re-sign one of the top 5 players in the league?

Chabot is a promising prospect, but if your window isn't closed already, it is getting pretty damn close and next year will be a dog fight to make the playoffs.

... oh and when does Boucher's act expire? It always does.

Wow Dopps that is some weak sh1t right there. The entire league was surprised we even made the playoffs. We had the greatest rookie class ever, and you managed to poop on that. You are comparing your team, whose window is shutting to the accomplishments of a team whose window has only just opened.

Look at the ages, up-side and salary commitments compared to yours.

Your Budget team has 22+ million tied up in untradeable contracts on rapidly diminishing assets for 4 years or so. Our cap headaches are gone before we need the cash to sign our stars.

Good luck paying Karlsson in 2 years AND trying to ice a winning team with that ownership.

Maybe if the Ottawa CFL franchise folds, again.

Their luck ran out.

Doubt it'll be back next year.

- Feeling Glucky?

The luck started with about 5 teams under-performing this year.

Look at the Sens roster. Who gets better... Ceci?

The other key players are who they are pretty much, or are on the decline.

Chabot is not going to save that team.

yeah, I did? or at least I thought I did.

Unfortunately it didn't work out... we had some family commitments for my recently widowed mother-in-law.

I want to try again in the summer. The weather was crap this past weekend (in the GTA anyway) and hotels were very expensive. I think it will be a much nicer trip in the summer. My wife is a teacher so I just need to take one day and we can do a long weekend

Hockey question... from Ek's thread. How much do you give to get Vegas to take Ryan (if that kind of stuff is even being discussed). Someone said they would give the first. I don't give more than a 2nd, if that. That cap space will come in handy in a couple years to try to hold on to Karlsson. If he continues to play at this level, he is possibly a 11-12 million a year guy. Even a steep hometown discount would still put him at 9+

that's an eklund blog, talking about Bobby Ryan and a first.

I think that's probably in the right ballpark. The sens pick will be in the late 20s range. And Bobby Ryan is arguably the worst contract in the league. Him and Phaneuf are neck and neck. Who else is there?

Way to early to think about Cap space in two years.
There are enough contract expiring this year and next, that could be used to find more than the current 11 plus million available.

You gotta wonder, though, how the internal cap factors into this.

I wonder also how high winning a cup is on Karlsson's list of priorities. If he cares, it'd likely cost Ottawa a lot more to retain him. Dreams are expensive.

They came within one goal, one bounce, one mistake from getting to the Finals this year, with their share of injuries and missing players. The owner is NOT the cheapskate all you leaf trolls make him out to be. He approved all the additions to the pay-role at the deadline, including a two year extension for Burrows ............ but I know you must keep this false myth alive if only to make your leafs look better in your minds .......... because that's the only place they are.

they came within ANOTHER major injury over the several they already got amongst the teams they played, you mean.

keep in mind, just about everything went their way. I can't remember another team getting two teams so decimated by injuries, as the senaturds did this year.

if you can't get through that, you never will.

which is true by the way.

I know it's hard for you to grasp .............. but the more series a team plays, the more injuries occur, and the number of players lost due to injuries increases.

I know the leafs have not played more than one round in the playoffs since 2005, so you would not know this, as they've only played 13 playoff games in total since 2005m while a team that has advanced, like the Senators, past the first and second rounds over the period of time, has had their share of injuries and lost players, just as much as any other multiple round teams have had.

So your opinion does not hold any water, so until the leafs manage to make it to the ECFs, something they've not done, then take it from fans of teams who have and perhaps you might learn a thing or two.

Since 2005, the Senators have now played 82 playoff games (leafs 13).
Ottawa has played (19) more playoff games in the past two months, than the leafs have since 2005 ................. so perhaps you should wait until the leafs are in the same ballpark before you start pontificating.

I guess if the owner isn't cheap, the GM is just incompetent, making trades like Zibby for Brassard.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In any case, I'm sure Melnyk is thrilled at how lucky he got this post season, not only
Making it, but going deep with what should be a bottom-10 team.

We'll see if any of that luck is left for next year's draft lottery.

I was countering the point made by one of the trollonto trolls, that the Sens were "lucky" that they played teams that had either had injured players, or players lost to injury .................. he did not seem to think that the Sens had their fair share of players playing injured, and players lost due to injury ........... no advantage to any of the teams.

Here's a list of injuries
http://www.tsn.ca/radio/o...-again-next-year-1.764114

As for trading rosters, no. Ottawa has solid core, and will most likely add a few rookies of their own next season ............ except they won't be all we, or the toronto centrist media talk Ad nauseam about.

Colin White should be a solid two way center, in a season or two. Thomas Chabot should join the team at some point next season...... named CHL Defenceman of the Year just the other day.

And maybe in another year, Logan Brown, who lead his Spitfires to a Memorial Cup victory, will make the Senators main roster.

So Window is opening, and will be open for a number of seasons .............

oh Logan Brown led them eh? Lol. not the 3 forwards who put up more points like Jeremy bracco who led the tourney in scoring? or the 3 members of the team named to the all star team, which Brown was not?

it's hilarious that you pick Logan Brown. if he makes the sens squad next year that's an embarrassment to them.
