I am still amazed the Leafs ended up with Matthews.
40 goals as a rookie. So good

Who is a better matchup for Ottawa: Nashville or Anaheim. I think Anaheim. The Predators look a lot like the Senators but with better depth on D. There'd be a lot of 1 goal games but I think the Preds would have the upper hand. I think the Sens could take the Ducks if they get lucky and beat the Preds.

I think the Sens are in tough against either team.

Methot and Phaneuf are putting a wicked beating on the Pens forwards and I think this a very unreported part of the Sens. If Borowiecki is back for a final it would be another solid addition.

I am old school and I believe that a large part of the Senator success formula is the D wearing down the opposing forwards in the first two periods. Over a six or seven games series top line forwards will feel the hitting. Anaheim is a huge team...like Washington, and I think they would be much harder to slow down than the Predators. On the other hand, the Predators have huge speed and maybe you can't catch them to hit them.

If it is the Preds perhaps Mrs. Fisher comes and visits her in-laws and sings the national anthem at one of the games.

But first the Sens need to beat the Pens and I don't think the series is nearly over. Crosby and Malkin have way too much pride not to come back really strong next game.

A bit disappointed.

I was hoping for a half hearted "go Sens go!" from my friend Prock.

Down deep you know he is pulling for the little engine that just keeps plugging away.

Had the Sens been knocked out in the first round and if the Leafs had moved into the second round I was going to change my team designation to the Maple Leafs for the second round.

For many years I had the Leafs as my designated team and changed over to the Sens for the playoffs if the Leafs had been knocked out.

Anyway it is turning into a great year.

I am a little overwhelmed by all this hockey commentary.

Sort of miss the Leaf summer chatter.

I am sure most of you are lurking on the sidelines waiting for the playoffs to end.

We will talk later.

You mean the same injured team that beat the presidents trophy winning caps.....who happen to be the team that beat the leafs.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.........arent you the same people who were saying that ottawa couldn't use injuries as an excuse for their struggles down the stretch?

Patric Hornqvist, Bryan Rust and Justin Schultz were all out last night.. pretty sure they played every game against the Caps

Hagelin came back which basically offsets that.. ....hornqvist is a 2rd liner and has been pretty much all year, so the only real loss is Schultz but they got Daley back.

Ottawa was down karlsson, methot, and Ryan at the end of the season, all of whom are far more valuable players, and leaf fans were very quick to poont out that injuries weren't an excuse.

If the defending cup champs can't overcome injuries to guys like rust and hornqvist.......then they aren't deserving of the cup.

The injured player that can't be replaced with someone else of equal talent on their roster is letang

Sorry my bad.

http://www.pensburgh.com/...es-rust-schultz-hornqvist

This is a huge blow to the team- Rust was playing first line wing (where Hornqvist was earlier) and Schultz is their best offensive-minded defenseman.

Top liners, playing on the top line...playing with other players who are top line players, playing on the top with other top line players.

I meant top 6 by top liners.. as opposed to bottom 6.

Its ok to say the sens are getting lucky with other teams injuries.

Also hornqvist is a 50 point player. thats top line production. Its not 1993 anymore

Over the course of 82 games, injuries tend to even out between teams.

In a 7 game series, they can have a big impact.

So what you're saying is that their depth was good enough to beat the caps in a 7 game series but not the sens?

Bobby Ryan had 50 or more points 3 years in a row before this year but was mocked by you and other leaf fans for sucking.......so are you now saying he's a top line player?

My favorite part is that the soft and injured pens beat the caps.....who are the team that smoked the leafs.....which is the idiot fanbase doing the trolling.

It bothers them sooooooooo much that ottawa is doing well. The butthurt is both incredibly transparent and wonderfully delicious.
