why are the leaf fans so caught up in few empty seats in Ottawa .......... why are they not talking about the leafs?]

I heard they made a big signing yesterday, the Cup is now a lock for next year....... congrats.

By the way, I wonder how all the leaf fans feel, now that it is longer than 50 years since the leafs have been in the Stanley Cup Finals .................... longest current drought in the NHL.

Nice try at rehashing your tired crap ... don't worry, nobody has forgotten that the Sens apparently can't compete with the Redblacks.

Well it's about 2 million metro but why worry about that.
- golfingsince

Not worried at all.

Just like you are unconcerned with trying to understand the point.

I cant speak for everyone.. but I am still talking about it because someone came up with a hilariously lame list of excuses for the empty seats

Only because the current Ottawa franchise hasn't even been around long enough.

Unbelievable that a fan of a team with zero cups is chirping us because ours were too long ago.

Don't worry... in a few years, you will still have 0 cups, but you will have a new stadium to be half-empty or 3/4 full with Leafs and Habs fans. Oh, and the Redblacks.

Why go to a playoff game this year when your team is getting a new arena in 4 or 5 years!

It's also a city in Tennessee, not the capital of Canada.

That city is also filled with a pile of rival hockey fans from original 6 teams.

We all get that Toronto has a stadium downtown with a metro population of over 5 million.

I have friends that live in Ottawa that have tickets but can't make it to every game because it's bloody far and they have work and home lives to balance.

You have no idea how many people travel by TTC or GO over an hour to get to TML games.

So you're downtown for work, have dinner and drinks and go to the game. Commute home. You also have 4 times the population to draw from.

I can't believe how thick you guys are

It would take me 40-50 minutes to get to the ACC via TTC, longer than it takes to drive from downtown Ottawa to their arena according to google maps and the like. At no point in my life have I ever thought "oh that's too far, I'm not going".

If I had tickets you can bet I would have hauled my ass to the ACC. Hell, I made it from Guelph to the Ricoh to see the Marlies a few times.

No sure why you are taking up the cause here. Dopps made a ridiculous statement. A new arena coming in 4 years is a reason to not go now? A CFL team that stopped playing like 5 or more months ago is a reason to not see a playoff game?

WTF?

Dude make a coherent point before calling the rest of us thick. It is no more difficult to see a game in Ottawa and there is WAY more competing for our dollar in Toronto.

What the hell are you even on about? during a typical wave of stupidity, Dopps gave some hilariously lame excuses.

If you are a dopps alt, best just delete your all your accounts and save yourself the embarassment.

... or go buy some pre-season Redblacks tickets.

MUCH longer for most of the GTA to get to a game.
Games are much more expensive
Parking is worse
Traffic is at least as bad
There is way more competing for our entertainment dollar

Hell we get thousands of people who are willing to stand outside and watch the game on TV

If Dopps and Garfing think they are going to make any sort of relevant comparison between the two cities, in any regard, they have lost the (frank)ing narrative completely.

believe it or not, the entire population of Toronto doesn't live and work downtown.

*gasp*

In fact many people who live and work outside the metropolitan area will make it to games.

Is the point that you just want to blindly defend dopps, and operate at a similar level intellectually?

Because that's what I got from your posts.

As a guy that did hold seasons tickets in Vancouver where I only had a 1/2 hour commute I can tell you that I did not make half the games during the regular season nor all of the games in the playoffs.

Once you hold seasons tickets, you tend to see that it's really a pain in the ass to go to games all the time.

Had I stayed out there, I was going to try for Seahawks tickets instead of Canucks tickets even though I'm a Dolphins fan because it's only an 8 game commitment.

The commute, side costs of going to the games and the impact on your regular life is much more substantial than you guys might believe......especially for a family man.

I have friends with seasons tickets to Leafs games, and regardless of whether they can use the tickets or not, they never go to waste, because they offer them to other people, and it rarely takes more than one offer before they're snapped up.

And we've already established, it takes a half hour for many, if not most Leaf fans, to commute to a game too. Much longer for some.

I repeat: there just aren't enough Sens fans to guarantee a sellout. Admit to this simple fact and and let the laughable excuses rest. It's such an easy thing to admit which makes this pretty funny.

Why don't the Jays sell out every game? Well there aren't enough Jays fans to sell out every game. Pretty simple. No excuses needed, that's just how it is.

But for a 2nd round playoff game?

Think about how much of a pain it is to get there...did you think about that?

Who's arguing that individuals need to go to every game?

The stadium fits like 1.5% of the city's population. You could have an entirely different audience in the stands every home game, and not everybody in the city would be able to get a turn in a season.

It seems people in Ottawa just don't care about the team enough to go watch a game.
