Not really no. I think Boston will key on his side of the ice, and score a tonne of goals.

I think they're licking their chops right now, being this fortunate.

Not according to Boston broadcasters and fans. Boston had 3 shots on goal in the third period last night. Fans were booing in the final minutes as they hung back with the puck and refused to attack in order to secure a point.

Ottawa was 4-0-0 against Boston this year.

You have to think that Boston is happy to match up against the weakest team in the playoffs right now. One needs to wonder if they didn't sit back a bit to make sure they had the best chance at facing them.

You guys are starting your summer talk way too soon. Leafs will make playoffs. There is still more hockey to play.
- spatso

Leafs fans know our team isn't winning the cup this season, no harm looking into the future, as we have a very exciting one.

I understand why it's a subject that you, as an Ottawa fan, might be a bit touchy about.

I don't know how many times I have to say it, playoffs this year is not the Leafs end goal. The Cup is, as early as 2 years from now. The playoffs would be nice, but it's just icing on the cake for us.

Why is nobody discussing this? I think it needs to be considered.

To be completely honest, no Sens fan, that I know, see's the Sens winning the Cup this season.

From my point of view, this season was all about establishing a system that works the best, with the current roster of players, that leads to making the playoffs. That was the stated goal prior to the season made in the media by the GM.

I don't see this team winning more than two rounds, but at least one round.

I also am looking towards the next season, and see how much more they can build on the success of this season. There are a some new younger players that could be added to the roster, maybe not right from the start of the season, but at some point during the season. There will be some roster spots opening up, with older players being not offered new contracts, and at least one player taken in the expansion draft.

The weakest team in the playoffs, will be one of the three teams in the mix for the last WC spot that's left available.

It's possible that we won't know which team that is until Sunday night.

I'm not sure where you see much improvement coming from.

Phaneuf and Methot, two guys you are counting on as key players, are on the downside of their careers. You'll need to replace Anderson in the near future.

Crappy contracts on Phaneuf and Ryan, leave little budget or cap space, and what's left will be needed to re-sign guys like Stone and Turris, and given their your first line, they'll need raises. Not that I think he deserves one, but Ceci may get a raise too.

I just don't see where the sens have any room to improve. They're going to have to fight the decline and loss of some of their key players.

A poor current roster, with declining players, a cheap owner, and almost no prospects worth any consideration.

Good luck Ottawa!

I'm not sure why you say that. Even if you think the sens are better than the other 3 teams, which isn't necessarily true (I assume you'll point to the standings), when you factor in Methot and Ceci out, and Karlsson banged up, not only would the sens be the weakest team, they'd be the weakest team by a country mile.

I think a quick look at how each team has been doing in the past month or so, might give some insight into how good each team may be, at THIS point in time. I would also definitely say that the closest rosters to what each team goes into the playoffs with, isn't really established until the trade deadline.

Sens could be 100% healthy, and they're still the best team for anyone to match up against. No firepower to keep up in the playoffs.

Pierre Dorion said something very simple yesterday. Eric Karlsson is the best defence player in the NHL. Thomas Chabot is the best defense player not in the NHL. Harpur, Englund and Jaros should play in the NHL soon. Harpur may have been best player on ice against Bruins Thursday night. Ceci right now is very good defense man.

Ottawa is set to continue as one of the strongest defensive teams for a very long time. D wins championships.

About a week ago, some leaf fans were counting their chickens......... turns out that they were counting out the wrong team, even though some of us pointed out that BOTH Ontario teams, who were tied in the standings, had better take care of their own business, and leaf fans should recognize the absurdity of their wishing that Tampa could easily catch the Sens, failing to understand that the Lightning would have to, and in fact did, defeat the leafs in the process.

who's playing their way to 9th?

did you mean the senatards?
- prock

Seriously, Ottawa has themselves in a position where they need to start worrying about Tampa. Looks to me like another 18 wheeler approaching a cliff.
- Feeling Glucky?

The Sens are really separating themselves from the pack right now. This is so disheartening.
- daeth

I don't think the Leafs care too much about teams behind them, like the Sens. With the amount they've been winning lately, they're only looking up the standings.
- Feeling Glucky?

The problem when you start to count your Chickens ...................... you might forget about your own Chicken coop.

Pales by comparison to the months of derp the Sens fans poop all over this thread about the Leafs.

Which was the point. I am sorry you missed it.

The fact that we are even close to you guys in the standings should be embarrassing for you, or at least cause for a lot of concern.

You obviously have not been keeping tabs on this thread......... the numerous leaf posters do nothing basically more than just trash the Sens all the time. They outnumber the Sens fans who post here by a factor of 5 to 1, and yes I checked the math on that.

For some reason, you and the other leaf fans, seem to think that Senator fans measure their team against how the leafs are doing .............. but that is just not the fact.

Why would we even bother comparing the Sens, who've played 63 Playoff games, in the past 12 years, against a team that has only played 7 playoff games in the same time span???

They're not any type of standard, in any way, to be used as a measuring stick.

I for one, measure against the Senators past season, and last season, after 81 games, the Senators only managed 83 points, and this season they have 98 after the same number of games.

If any fan base should be embarrassed, perhaps it's the leafs fan base, as their team is closing in on the 50th anniversary of their last Cup win, and not only that, it'll be 50 years since even an appearance in the Stanley Cup finals.

toronto PO odds 81.9%

Sens make no major additions to their roster. Actually downgrade a bit in the brassard for zibby trade, and improve massively, while numbers show their limited success is unsustainable.

No spin required, just facts.

Now, go back to jerking off about beating a team resting 7 of their skaters.

And as usual, lol @ a team with 0 cups mocking another team for a drought.

You seem so rattled...

Just a week ago, when the leafs and Senators were tied, with the same number of games remaining, you could not stop talking about how the Senators, and their fans should all be poopting their pants about the possibility that Tampa was about to overtake them in the standings ............ that was sssooooo funny.

I guess you thought the leafs were safe, even after I pointed out the schedules of the teams remaining in the playoff hunt, and that the leafs were in a worse position than the Sens were........ you said nothing.

Look, you can yap about who the Rangers sat out today, but you'll never say a thing about all the players the Penguins will sit out tonight, and the Jackets tomorrow ...... so like I said ........ the leafs will be backing into the playoffs, if they make them that is.

Kudos to the Sens, turning their fortunes around against basement dwellers and teams resting players... it didn't look like they'd be able to pull that off, which is why you seem so relieved now.

They'll have an exciting round for sure. Soak it in!

As for the Pens sitting players, I hope they do. Leafs are a young team in need of a confidence boost. But unless they sit Sid and Malkin, it's a very different situation.

well, I think the possibility of Tampa passing the sens would have been hilarious. but it would really just be punctuation on the sorry state the club is in. certainly no one sees the sens as a team on the upswing. so finishing within a few points of the Leafs (a team fast on the rise), points mostly accumulated with shootout wins, should not be something you're overly proud of. as we've been saying since day 1, neither team are contenders.

Another dig by him at the Leafs' 1967 cup. He's focussing on the past, because even he knows his team has no future.
