The "Seguin" trade is 100% on Boston now. Bad trade.

For all the butt-kissing Erikkson was getting as an amazing two-way forward who was underrated, well turns out he was overrated. There's nothing special about him. And he's had two concussions in 25 games already for Boston.

- RogerRoeper

Eriksson is pretty good and you yourself pointed out why he hasn't been that good in Boston yet. Two concussions will do that. He may never be good again, who knows.

He wasn't that good last year. I find guys in small hockey markets do at times get overrated by people who never watch them then get exposed in bigger hockey markets.

And of course that is a extremely fair comparison of the two players.

As much as you wish it could go away, it will not.

Seguin and Hamilton were the players the leafs would have drafted if Burke had not traded away the two picks.

- Doppleganger

Again, trading Seguin is on Boston. They traded him knowing what they had. Boston trading Seguin changed so much of that "Kessel Trade". You could argue Leafs got lucky by Chiarelli's odd decision to trade Seguin. Terrible trade given he never even got to play the role he was drafted for in Boston.

And Kessel sucks. He'll never re-sign in Toronto. Loui Erikkson alone is better. Blah, Blah, Blah.

And don't forget about Jared Knight. Practically a first rounder.

Does not change the fact that toronto would have drafted Seguin, and most likely Hamilton in addition to acquiring Kessel or someone like him as an UFA.............hey they have Budget eh?

I'm not really sure what you mean by the Leafs having a budget. Are you confused? The Leafs don't really have a budget, they have a salary cap. The Sens have a budget, and the salary cap is irrelevant to them. Can you elaborate on what you mean?

yes, they do have the budget to sign players available in free agency. As well as re-sign their own players.

Do you not feel that it is a good thing?

Each market place has it's own unique challenges and if spending to the Cap, or spending to the sky, in the pre-cap era worked, then why has the leafs not even made it to at least the Finals since the days of Black and White TV??

Hall was already selected by the time the "leafs" pick came up...........Seguin would have been selected by whomever held that pick.

That Tyler Seguin seems good. Why the hell did Boston trade him?

Loui Erikkson was NOT UNDERRATED, he was OVERRATED BTW.

- RogerRoeper

He was never going to get the minutes or opportunity in Boston that hes getting in Dallas. I thought this was common knowledge.

ugh.... let me slow it down

If the leafs didnt acquire Kessel, he would not have been on the Leafs, leading them in scoring.. making them worse...and ending up in 30th securing the #1 pick

I see your point, they would have ended up the the greatest chance of winning the #1 pick in the lottery.

Don't forget the Bruins also received Reilly Smith, 15 goals, 17 assists for 32 points, in that multi-player trade.

The Bruins traded Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button to the Stars in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith, and Matt Fraser.

Because Eriksson has only played 24 games, the trade cannot be evaluated properly at this time, but Reilly Smith is only 9 points back of Tyler Seguin.

PITTSBURGH, BOSTON, TAMPA BAY & MONTREAL all comfortably in a playoff spot at this time and have seperated themselves from the seven teams (below) that are in contention for the two spots in the Metropolitan Division, and the two wildcard spots.

They currently are all within 5 points of each other today.

PHILADELPHIA .568
DETROIT .558
WASHINGTON .548
toronto .534
CAROLINA .523
NY RANGERS .522
OTTAWA .511

(I don't have to explain that teams from the Atlantic Division can only compete for the two wildcard spots do I?)

If Ottawa plays at least as well as they did last night when they dominated the play from about the 5 minute mark of the first period until the last 5 minutes of the third period, they can gain ground on the teams ahead of them and might challenge for a wildcard spot after the Olympic break.

The leafs will probably not Catch any of the three top teams in their division, so are competing for the two wildcard spots.

These two wildcard spots are up for grabs right now between 6 or seven teams all within 5 points. Three of these teams have "games is hand" on the leafs.

If Carolina wins in regulation tonight, the leafs are bumped out of the playoff spot they hold as of now.

What makes you think the leafs "for sure" will secure one of these two spots?

Leafs have the best goaltending in the entire NHL. 2 legit #1 starters.

- RogerRoeper

Neither "Legit #1 starters" have had a regulation win on the road, since October.
