Leafs won tonight.

How'd the sens do?

- Tumbleweed

Against a non playoff team? Last I saw they were winning and those are guaranteed wins anyway so I'm pretty sure they won.

I imagine they also have more than 2 wins in their last 7.

Definitely not a team backsliding into a playoff spot.

I saw most of the Sens game, some of the Montreal game and a bit of the Leaf game.

In terms of the NHL and the Canadian hockey fan this is the best year in many years. The playoffs will be even better.

Leafs need to win 2 more games than the Sens for home ice advantage. Sens fans are getting nervous. Does their team even have two more wins in it this season?

you're as close to being on the outside of the playoff picture as you are of catching Ottawa.........and have probably the hardest remaining schedule of any team fighting for a playoff spot.

I'd hold off on counting those chickens if I were you......they haven't hatched just yet.

I can't speak for other sens fans, but playing the leafs in the first round, regardless of who finishes where, doesn't make me nervous at all. of all the potential 1st round matchups the leafs are probably the easiest.

if you gave me the option of playing montreal, boston, new York, or Toronto in the 1st round I'm taking the leafs EVERY TIME. you need good goaltending and good defence to win in the playoffs, and the leafs have neither.

The team that is the most dangerous to the Sens (or any other first round team is the Leafs). They are young, they do not know playoff jitters and they will likely play a really strong first round. For a young team like the Leafs the nervousness does not kick in until the second round.

In terms of home advantage, I don't think there really is one. The Sens are a really good road team and the Leafs have been playing really well. If the first two games get split 1-1, I think I would rather have games 3 and 4 at home when things are a bit more well settled.

I don't think there is a home advantage for a game 7 in the early rounds of the playoffs.

It will be a great series. I would bet the Leafs in any game where more than 5 goals are scored. Make it the Sens for games with 3 goals or less. Toss up when 4 goals are scored.

Not me. Young teams don't know their limitations. I would be most nervous playing the Leafs because they can get on a wicked roll in the first round. I would have far stronger preference to meet Boston.

boston has strong goaltending, solid D, and high end playoff tested forwards................the leafs have none of that. give me Toronto every time.

Rask has been absolute trash outside of the first two months of the season. Do you think he will find his game in the playoffs even though he's been bad for 40+ games now?

Rask is pretty much Boston's only real problem this year. With even half decent goaltending they're playing for the division lead right now instead of fighting for their lives to even make the playoffs.

his last 15 games his sv% is like .915...........you can make anyone look good or bad based on the sample size. he struggled for awhile but has been better lately

I'd bet large sums of money that most people are taking rask over andersen

That is one hell of a huge sample size. 43 games. I'm not even coming close to cherry picking stats.

I'm not suggesting you were cherry picking stats.........goalies get hot and get cold, it's a brutal position to play consistently.

like I said, he's been much better the last 15-20 games, and the overall sample size for the season is also pretty good.

like I said, in a 7 game series, all things being equal, I'm taking rask over Andersen every time............and I'd be willing to bet that most teams would too.

Dellow wrote a bit about 1 goal Games last week.

Mike Babcock, 2007-17, one-goal games: .487.

One-goal game winning percentages of Stanley Cup winners, 2008-16: Detroit (.533), Pittsburgh (.512), Chicago (.533), Boston (.477), Los Angeles (.415), Chicago (.700), Los Angeles (.521), Chicago (.571) and Pittsburgh (.568). Winning one-goal games in the regular season is great but as intimidating a point total as it might get you, a team that isn’t particularly great at it usually ends up with the Cup.

But yeah the leafs have a bad record in 1 goal games this season. But I am not sure that means much when it comes to the playoffs

It looks like 4 of the last 5 winners have had excellent 1 goal game records. Beyond these recent years there doesn't appear to be any pattern though.
