Its fun beating the Broons

Go Leafs!

- senstroll

Did not see the game or highlights ............ so all I've heard (on the radio) this morning, is how the refs gifted the leafs with a weak call PP, late in the game, to hand them the two points.

Guess the NHL wants the leafs in the playoffs, to help the TV ratings, and revenues, to make up for the lack of Canadian teams in last year playoffs.

"It was also one of the most bogus penalty calls that you'll ever see deciding a late season NHL game with major playoff implications involved. "

"there’s greater hockey forces out there clearly pulling for the maple leafs to be in the playoffs this spring"

http://www.bostonherald.c...inch_closer_with_4_2_loss

"And it was ruined, as far as the Bruins were concerned, by a chintzy penalty call with less than three minutes left. "

"The B’s wondered how, with a dirty hit that could easily have been five minutes, they ended up with two minutes of 4-on-4."

Yes, the irony of bruins fans complaining about an earned penalty is delicious.

However, if you're arguing that the NHL is pulling some strings to help the Leafs(ignoring all the poop that's gone against them this year), then I guess you need to concede that they're in a better position.

I would suggest watching the whole game then

Also I would recommend not dumping a player on his ass in front of the net when the puck is nowhere near you. It left Moore wide open in front, if the puck came to him its a good chance and maybe a goal. Call was fine

Its just poop leveling the field for all other missed calls.

Let's be honest, it's just a weak trolling attempt a la spasdopps boosting Laine.

Spastic pumps up other team's rookies because he knows the Sens have. Youth that compares to what the Leafs have, Dopps is complaining for Bruins fans, because he's nervous about the Leaf's rapid climb, compared to his team's looming(or ongoing) obsolescence.

Maybe its neither .. Refs are human, make mistakes and have personal influences that make stuff seem fair or unfair.

over a season these things even out... Why would the NHL try to keep them out or try to get them in? this is just as dumb as the Lottery is fixed people.

Again you're so far of base, that you're not even in the ball park.

Heard (on the Radio) this morning about the "issues" around last night's game in toronto.

Pierre McGuire is not a Bruins fan, and neither are the two co-hosts on local Ottawa radio that he was on.

I posted a few supporting links, and you can interpret it anyway you want, I guess.

Again, I'll point out, that Sens fans could care less about the potential backing into the playoffs by the leafs ........... if they do, they'll be a easier opponent than the Bruins if they did face each other in the first round ........... there is no debate about that.

Their ref gifted win last night, increased their "odds" of making the playoffs ........ and with the easiest remaining schedule of EC teams, they could squeak in.

The Leafs have went 5-1-1 during the toughest stretch, beat Philly, TB and Boston in regulation when they had to. there is no backing in. If a few Shootouts swing a different way, the Leafs are ahead of the Sens right now. I know it sucks for the reality. The Sens are not much better and have went all in. the Leafs are 1 season from 30th place ..

The Leafs earned the points and Boston (Moore) gifted the leafs a Powerplay with a dumb move

Yeah, a big jump from 30th ............ but remember, the leafs did everything in their power to dive down to 30th last season ........... and this season was going see them do better than30th ...... if you go back to the beginning of this season, I suggested that both the Sens and leafs were in the mix for , at best, challenging for a WC spot ....... so both teams have exceeded that prediction.

But, again, no one in Ottawa is "worrying" about the leafs making the playoffs ................ Senator fans are looking ahead to the playoffs, not behind them.

Perhaps you wish they were worried about the leafs ............. but I can't think of a reason why.

I guess because you're envious of the 63 playoff games the Senators have been in over the past 12 years ........ while the leafs only managed 7 over the time period, you must somehow think Senator fans regard their weaker Provincial rival in the same way .................. but we don't.

So if it make you fell good to think Senator fans are shaking in their boots, then do so............. but it's not fact.

Yeah, I guess that's fair ........... comparing an established team and an expansion team.

Guess that's the only way to get a favourable stats for the leafs.

Why not compare the two teams, and number of playoff games, from when they were on somewhat even ground ............. let's say from when the leafs migrated over to the Eastern Conference for the 1998-99 season ................ how do those numbers add up?

114 vs 87

The Moore play was a penalty even if it was playing through his check and being stronger in that situation. The optics clearly show an interference penalty.

A few missed calls both ways, generally they even out. I was more miffed by the 4 x 4 result after that hit on Bergeron.

If you really start to pay attention and not let your Fan bias take over.. the penalties are all over the place for both sides. obviously not every game evens out all the time but Leafs get screwed and so do all other teams.

this.....every team will be on the benefitting and getting (frank)ed over end of bad calls every game. it usually evens out in the end, and rarely do those calls have a direct impact on the game.

the only one I took issue with, from a sens stand point, was the game against Chicago where Ottawa was already shorthanded and the refs called a slashing call to put them down 2 men in a tie game with like a minute left. if it was a legit slash then fine, but the Ottawa guy barely tapped the stick, but composite sticks being what they are, the thing (frank)ing exploded like it was hit by a missile. that one I have a problem with, don't just see the stick break, actually look at what caused it to break..............that's the one penalty that drives me nuts (no matter who it's called against) because a hard slash to the hands is often not called, but as soon as that flimsy little stick breaks the arms go up.

good game by you guys last night

The sens have lost 4 straight. Looks like their unsustainable play might be catching up with them.

If they make the playoffs, they're the ones you can define as "backing in".

Pretty much. Lots of moving pieces out there. Refs are human and their sight lines aren't what we see on TV so they are bound to screw up a call here or there most nights.

Leafs outplayed the Bruins in the final 40 minutes. That's why they won the game.

Given their play lately, you should be looking behind. Habs are distancing themselves, and the Bruins and Leafs... maybe NYI or Tampa, are closing in.

Moore penalty wouldn't have been called anywhere else on the ice IMO... but right there in the slot, would have been a huge benefit to the Bruins.

Just curious, if a goal is scored on what should be a penalty, can the coach use a challenge on the missed call?

I'd like to see the Senators fight it out with the Islanders/Lightning for the last wildcard spot. It's unfortunate to see a team playing such a poor brand of hockey high up in the standings.
