You're right....he was 23......makes all the difference in the world.

BTW....same age Leipsic will be in a few weeks.

- sensarmy_11

Actually yeah. Forwards who hit a 1 ppg in the ahl at 21/22 to are proven to have pretty good odds of making the nhl. Odds start to drop after that.

and you're mixing it up. Froese’s comparable season age wise to leispic is the 13/14 season.

I said you were right.....the 3rd Rd pick who's about to be 23 and has 6 games of nhl experience is guaranteed to be ano nhl success.

I love that the 2nd best prospect you have outside the nhl is an about to be 23 year old 3rd Rd pick

Meh. I said good odds, as there are no guarantees. Except for sens fans think all their prospects are guaranteed nhlers.

But laugh while you can now.

leafs will have 2-3 rookies in their lineup next year that will be more impactful that any rookies the sens add next year.

Leipsic is the closest to being NHL Ready. Thats not the same as having the most upside of all Leafs prospects, or projecting be to a top 6 etc.

I hope that helps

Here is a list PPP does every year
http://www.pensionplanpup...25u25-final-2016-rankings

its from last Sept, so some things could have shifted.
Taking out those that are in the NHL now

they ranked them this way

Kapanen
Rychel
Johnson
Timashov
Bracco
Leipsic

So the 6th best prospect?

Leafs will have ~6 guys from the marlies who will be competing for a few roster spots next year. Guys will earn those spots; and if not performing lose their roster spot. These guys have been playing against pros in the ahl for a 1-3 years and are in a good position to adjust. And we won’t be dependent on all those guys making it.

Sens will rush their only 3 prospects to the nhl who will automatically get roster spots. Guys who were are playing against amateurs in the chl/ncca. No fear of losing their job because the sens don’t have anyone else to give their jobs to.

Doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to see how this will turn out.

I dont think his statement is off base. Leipsic should be NHL ready and will probably make an impact like Hyman or Brown. Kapenen is the other.

Can we assume Chabot and White will be the ones for Ottawa?

Its not going to be a quick assent for a 20/21yo mid round pick, especially D, its rare for one to step right in and make any sort of impact. As good as some players look against other jr players..the NHL is not the same for a rookie D.

Can’t agrue that Chabot doesn’t have the highest upside to any prospect outside the nhl for either team. But yeah, his impact next year will likely be minimal.

Tyler Dellow does good work. Really interesting writing if you like the mix of stats with it dumbed down so you can understand stuff.

From the Athletic

Just to hammer that home, you can see that Hunwick/Polak are pretty much all red, all the time. This means that they’re doing worse than the league average 5/6 defencemen. It stands out because there’s so much green elsewhere on the chart.

Chris Wideman is giving Ottawa exactly what you’d hope for from a sixth defenceman. Erik Karlsson’s doing the same as a number one defenceman. In between them, it’s pretty messy. Cody Ceci sure seems like he’s in over his head.

Ottawa might end up winning the division but I see them as an underdog in any playoff series they have. Outside of something outrageously good happening for them this summer, they’ll be pretty high on my list of playoff teams I’m picking to miss next year.

Even Karlsson can't lift up that forward group

Maybe he will one day, but for now, he's just not ready.

i'm using "Rival" in the long-term sense of the word.

Leafs are the organization the Senators wish they could be. Bright future, with fanbase support that can actually fund an on-going push, rather than the flashes Ottawa can try and muster every decade or so, like the ill-concieved one we're seeing this season.

I feel this is why people like you and spasto(if you are different people), are so angry when it comes to the Leafs. Jealousy is a very destructive emotion.

- Feeling Glucky?

No Ottawa fan in their right might would "wish" to be anything like the leaf organization, an organization that has the title of the longest absence from participation in the Stanley Cup Finals, weeks away from 50 years.

An organization that has continuous cycles of "re-builds" with each incarnation being hailed as "the way to do it right" and every time ending in failure ........

An Organization that has a fan-base of followers who look at the much better franchise in Ontario with so much jealousy, that they are compelled to troll sites like these, as if in some way they'll convince themselves that "this time" the re-build will miraculously work and Cup will somehow be a reality.

Sad, but the reality is that leaf fans have only witnessed 7 leaf playoff games in 12 years .......... while Ottawa fans have seen 63 Senator playoff games, including an Eastern Conference Championship, and an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals................ and the only thing leaf trolls can say is "your team didn't win the Cup, so it does not matter" ........... but then in the next breath they rejoice in a few preliminary round victories over their Provincial rivals ...... but NOT winning the Cup does not apply ............ the double standard of the true jealousy that is clearly apparent in Ontario.

Ottawa is guaranteed to add to those 63 Playoff games (over twelve years) as the Senators are a clear contender to emerge from the Atlantic division ................ while the jealous leaf trolls can only hope their team gets "some help" from other teams, so that the leafs can back their way into the playoffs.

Yes. The period where they barely had any scoring chances, because they don't have many legitimate scoring threats, and wound up taking some dumb penalties, and getting outscored 2-1.

.

So Turris's PP goal, was not a "scoring chance" ?

was it as least a SOG?
