You guys need to stop whining and accept the reality of the scoreboard. You always end up trying to argue hopes rather than substance.

We have listened to this kind of talk from Leaf fans every year since forever. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Need a more realistic understanding of just exactly where the Leafs find themselves at this point.

Whining? Are you referring to our exuberance over one of the best young teams in the league "whining"?

Man, the excitement in Leafs nation sure has you sens fans in a huff alright.

No hopes, just the current situation. Leafs are a young team exceeding expectations, Sens are an aging team with a closing window(if it was ever open) and no hope to win the cup in the foreseeable future.

That's the reality of the situation. You can be as short sighted as you like, I suppose it helps dull the pain.

I'm not sure about Colorado's cap situation, but maybe they'd want a guy like Brassard if they were struggling to hit the cap floor, and he was a throw-in. No other reason that I could see them wanting him.

I love how much it bothers you that the sens are 1 point out of the division lead with the like 7th best record in the league and the Leafs are likely to miss the playoffs for the 11th time in 12 years.

The butt hurt is so obvious and the fact that you can't admit and just talk about your 3 rookies while completely ignoring the GLARING holes in your lineup with nothing in your organization to fix them..........it's SOOOO delicious

Now please, proceed to tell us how young you are and how old we are (even though the avg age is only 2 years apart).

I like how much it bothers Sens fans that the Leafs are 1 point out of the playoffs, knowing that their team has nothing in the wings to improve their team, and an owner who won't pay up to build a winner. I'm very curious to see what young player the Sens kick out next for expecting a raise.

I fully admit the Leafs have a hole on D. They've got a couple of excellent d prospects on the marlies, but I imagine that management will also make moves to improve the NHL side of things while those guys mature. Remember, this team has money, and assets to trade.

The average age isn't what's important. The Sens have one player under 25 worth a damn. The Leafs have 3 rookies under 20 who are likely to end the season over 60 points. I'm not sure the Sens will have a single forward that hits that mark this year. It's weird, normally teams with the awful possession stats the Sens have are run and gun system that promotes offence.

A team with no offensive ability and poor possession numbers isn't going to go anywhere. But you'll see that soon enough.

I guess Stone doesn't officially qualify for under 25 anymore. But him. He'd be a good second line winger on the Leafs.

Awwww........weak attempts at trolling, another tell tale sign that you're very bothered by how well Ottawa is doing this year.

Keep it up, I love this.

Quick, tell me about your rookies again, and how bad Karlsson is......

Not sure why you need to be told again. The Leafs currently have 3 of the top 4 scoring rookies, 5 of the top 12, 6 of the top 20. All feats that have never been managed before. Making the Leafs set of rookies the best in the history of the NHL.

Zaitsev being the third highest scoring rookie dman as well.

Karlsson had more goals scored against with him on the ice at even strength every year, some years by a wide margin, than any other player in the NHL, from 2012/2013 to 2015/2016. These are facts.

He was an absolute tire fire in his own end. Worst in the entire league. Now, he's improved, he's just below average, not worst in the league.

What's the issue?

Former offensive NHL defenseman Brian Leetch discussed Karlsson’s play and that overall he contributes everything a team could ask of him.

“It’s a game of mistakes. Something’s going to go wrong out there and that goes for every player,” he continued. “But the amount of things [Karlsson] does right and the amount of things he does to impact his team in a positive way is ideal. That is just such an easy thing to say about someone that’s putting up offensive numbers, but when you watch him play on a regular basis, everything he does is what any team wants a defenseman to do.
http://hockeyanalysis.com...-defender-does-it-matter/

When the greatest NHL defenceman of all-time watches Erik Karlsson, he is reminded of the best of the best ... guys like Larry Robinson, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe, Denis Potvin, Paul Coffey and Ray Bourque.

Former Boston Bruins great Bobby Orr, No. 4, told the Ottawa Sun in an exclusive interview the sky is the limit for the 21-year-old Karlsson.

“I watch the Senators often,” said Orr, who turns 64 Tuesday and is president of the Orr Hockey Group that represents Jason Spezza. “I see a lot (in Karlsson). (Just) the way this kid skates. There’s nothing like a powerful skater. You can go back over the years: Coffey, (Bourque), Potvin ... these guys could motor. They had great speed.

“This kid has wonderful speed. Great, great hockey sense. He’s not big at all. Two games ago I looked at him and I thought, ‘Holy crap, he looks like a teenager,’ or maybe it’s me getting old. He’s not a huge kid, but he’s very intelligent and very smart on the ice.

Let's all remember that Prock clearly stated that if he were the GM (of the leafs) he would NOT take Karlsson for free, if offered in a trade.
