going completely off topic here but i seem to have a pretty decent focus group.

i'm buying a new laptop and have decided to go Mac. I'm getting it because i'm deploying next month so i want it to facetime, download/watch movies, upload and store pictures, and that's about it.

i don't know a lot about the intricacies of computers so i don't really know what the difference is between the Macbook Pro and the Macbook Air is.

any of you guys knowledgeable about this stuff and can make a recommendation? the dippoops at the apple store are probably just going to try and up-sell me.

Go with the air. Longest battery life, slim form, and durrable.

Mine has lasted 5 years, and I don't treat my gear well.

Sens have one of the deepest prospect pools in the NHL. Great young players coming through their system. Leafs are all in, nothing left in their system. What you see is what you get. Better figure out how to make it work without any Dmen in your system.

This post perfectly explains why you cheer for the Sens.

You just don't know anything about hockey. You probably only wound up cheering for the Sens because you thought the logo looked cool.

And you remain totally blind to the fact the Sens are in first place with games in hand!

it's not really bad mouthing. I'd say similar things about teams like Vancouver or Detroit. both are badly in need of a rebuilding as well. you can point to the standings but realistically the Sens stand no shot at winning a cup with their current core. it's a core that is aging as well. any "success" they have right now is really just delaying the inevitable.

you can point to the boyle trade all you want but the leafs have one less draft pick in 2019 than the sens have in 2018 and 2019 combined last time I checked. pointing to the trade of a second round pick as some monumental error just makes you look retarded. like honestly, no exaggeration, retarded. like your mother drank when she was pregnant with you kind of stupid. give it up.

- prock

Funny how you, and the other leaf fans post the exact opposite, whenever the Senators have traded away a second round draft pick.

Do you really think no one notices the extremely obvious hypocrisy when you make post like this?

well first, it isn't "just one second". it's half the draft picks the sens have the next two years. you're ignoring the context that I've pointed out several times, in that one team has loads of them, the other has very few. further, one is coming out of a rebuilding, the other needs one very badly. on top of that, the Sens, as a budget team, are more reliant on cost controlled players, the kind you get in the draft.

it's not hypocrisy. the leafs have a tonne of picks. the sens seemingly are trying to trade every draft pick they have so melnyks doesn't have to buy plane tickets for his management to attend the draft.

Prock just sites one error after another in the belief that nobody is going to bother with his genera shotgun approach.

So, he says the Sens have given away all their draft picks. However, I think they have a pick in every round next year except for one. The Lazar trade got them back the missing 2nd they gave up for (Phaneuf).

Prock talks about the Sens being a budget team. Yet their current roster brings them right up to the lip of the cap.

Sens prospects are playing really well including the best two players in the World Juniors. Yet Prock says they have no prospects.

And, of course, he talks about not wanting Karlsson on his team as he would not be a top 4 for the kind of game he expects the Leafs to play. Karlsson is having the best season of his career. Leads the league in blocked shots and getting rave reviews for his defensive play and team leadership..But Prock says......Oh, what a guy!

It's toronto fans who have the inferiority complex ............. all they've been doing for the last ten pages is bad mouth the Senators ................. because they've realized that Ottawa is most likely going to add the Sixty Three Playoff games, they've played, since the 2005 - 06 season, compared the the measly seven games the leaf have played in the same time period.

The leafs are going to (very soon) past the 50 year mark, since the leafs last won a Cup .......... and their faint playoff hopes, for this season, are looking more or less gone until next season.

Ottawa fans will be watching their team play in the playoffs this coming April, and leaf fans will probably start watching blue jay games instead.

I would love to see the leafs make the playoffs, so that they can play four more games, and up their 12 year total to 11 playoff games ........... but I don't think it's going to happen........... the trade for Boyle has been a bust, and he's not doing what he was brought in to do, one assist in 5 games .......... the leafs were fleeced.

Watching you guys try to convince each other that your team isn't mediocre, and has a future... it's just amazing. Like two mussels in a pot who think they're in the ocean.

Ottawa is going to finish in first place. Next year they are going to add the two best players outside the NHL (Chabot and White). Karlsson continues to get better. Life is sweet for Sens fans, why fight the joy?

i have the impression if the Sens win the Cup and I think they will be making a run this year...you will say they should have been rebuilding. Not sure about the meaning behind it, but I am sure there is a pathology that explains your thinking.

I'd say the Sens have alot more trade value based on Alfie Spezza and Heatley, so when it comes to tradeable assets I'd say them.

When it comes to fans, and which fan I'd rather be.. Probably Toronto, as I knew what this team was before the season started, and Leafs management didnt try to sell something they werent. Ottawa is just a bad team beyond the previously mentioned players

Why? Burke is an amazing GM. Anyone who says he ruined the Canucks is a joke. Burke brought is some of our greatest season point totals ever. He put together the West Coast Express and the two guys who are leading our team in points right now? Ya, Burke gottem. Sure our goaltending was suspect and his draft record wasn't great outside the Sedins, but what can you do? Not everything will be perfect. Detroits goaltending is brutal but you don't see people calling Holland a terrible GM, and drafting outside of the top 10 has been and likely will be forever a crap shoot. Also, to those who say he left us with a brutal team, well what the hell do you want? You can't stay competitive and take a run at the cup, it just isn't feasable. The only way it's possible is to completely luck out with late round picks like Detroit did. Without those ridiculous Datsyuk and Zetterberg picks the Wings would be roughin it up with the worst of the Western teams. Hey let's not forget Burke just recently won a STANLEY CUP in Anaheim. Say what you want about him but the man is a consistent winner and in my mind has yet to fail as a GM.

You should check your facts. 3rd round pick out for stalberg in the 2017 draft. 5th out for Condon. 7th for wingels. in 2018 they've already traded their second rounder for brassard.

You sound very desperate. A new hobby or perhaps a greater appreciation for life might be something important you should consider. As the gap between these two teams continues to narrow I hope you don't become too distressed. I don't like it when people suffer. I wish you well.

You are, of course, entirely correct.

Since the all star break the Sens have continued to increase the gap between themselves and the Leafs.

Clearly the return of Anderson has made a huge difference in terms of the Sens over all performance.

I don't think anyone should be displeased with the play of the Leafs. All things considered they have probably over performed expectations based on early and pre season predictions.

In the case of Ottawa, I think it is fair to say that nobody ever expected that Karlsson would be able to bring his play to the level that he has.

He is basically on the same point a game pace as last year.

But his defensive play and leadership have been phenomenal.

Karlsson has been slowly reeling in Brent Burns in terms of offensive output. I usually listen to the other team broadcast of games against the Sens and the amount of love that Karlsson is getting from other broadcasters is right off the charts. It is a steep hill, but I expect that Karlsson will be very close in final Norris balloting to Brent Burns.

I also expect Karlsson will finish high in the MVP race as well.

Lets remember, this 6 game winning streak has been done without (in most games) MacArthur, Ryan, Turris and Stone being either not in the lineup or playing injured and below par.

Sticking to the "system" has served them well, and their goal-tending has been good enough to keep them in the games.

Tuesdays game will be another test of their "bend but not breaking" attitude as it's the proverbial "trap game", as it's their first home game back after a long, out of time zone, road trip. Tampa is playing in NY on Monday night, so it may even the playing field a bit.

However, after Tuesdays game, the next six are going to be a really tough stretch, and possibly more losses than wins.

3 games in 4 nights
Chicago
Montreal
Montreal

then
Boston
Montreal
Pittsburgh

I think Ottawa will be very happy if they emerge from those six games, still in second place of their Division.

I think you are entirely correct in pointing out that Ottawa really only has one player of note, who's career year is likely the sole reason for his team's mirage season before next year's regression. And while it is possible that they regress this season and miss the playoffs, I don't expect that to happen. Still, I find it odd that Sens fans refuse to talk about this! It'd make for very good hockey talk!

Saying your team is missing Ryan and MacArthur is like Leafs fans saying we're missing Lupul, Horton, and Robidas. Sure, it's true, but it's not really a big loss. Hell it might be to the team's benefit.
