Ottawa has given up 50 shots or more two games in a row now. Yikes.

We'll see how Ottawa does with the huge expectations. The Toronto media loves them. Picks them to be cup contenders. We shall see.

The Leafs play like crap and they're 5-1 with little expectations. They can play far better.

Back to back games, San Jose 10pm EDT and then 8pm EDT in Anaheim.

Lehner stopped 92 of 97 shots he faced in the 2 games for a .948 Sv%.

Ottawa is one of only two Eastern teams that have yet to play a game at home, and that other Eastern team that was also on the "Western" road trip, managed only two points, so I'm not even thinking about the panic button, not even remotely.

I dunno. We'll see if their schedule has anything to do with it. I'm not so sure they have the talent to reach the massive expectations there is.

I myself thought they would do well. The thing is, just because they did so well with so many injuries, doesn't necesarily mean they will be better if they are healthier this year.

Chris Phillips looks like he's lost a big step. And their secondary scoring is a big issue. Macarthur is one of their top forwards. the Leafs barely had room for him.

The compressed schedule is another reason I'm not a fan of NHLers going to the Olympics, but it's the same for all teams. Starting the season with six straight on the road is unusual to say the least, so the Sens will have to make hay when the have a decent home stretch.

I don't agree with the massive expectations theory you have, as I pay little attention to the so called expert pundits, and I'm sure the players pay even less attention.

Clearly Karlsson is NOT near 100% and neither is Spezza and the same can be said for Michalek, as all are recovering from injury and or surgery. Turris has really turned up his game and Ryan is slowly coming around.

As you say, there's little to no production coming from the bottom two lines, and when these two lines can't contain the opposition to fewer shots than expected, and little tinkering may be in order if it keeps up after they get in some home games when the line match-ups go their way for a change.

This thread has just continued to be a mess of people scoffing at current stats one day, highlighting the same stats the next day. Weirdness - a rare but admirable few have been able to give credit where it's been due.

Who is in the better situation right now? I think the Leafs, personally, as they've hit the end of their rebuild and now just have to do something with the talent they've built up. I love their goaltending depth, they've got so many dynamic forwards (goddam Kessel!) and a hard working game that will take them far if injuries and attitudes don't get in the way. This hot start shows them what's possible.

Sens are finishing off their rebuild - we still have some questions, some injuries to get out of our minds, some stats to improve - but this season has the potential to be exciting in O-Town.

Hopefully it's not considered a bannable offense for wanting to praise both teams...

Leafs have the best goaltending in the entire NHL. 2 legit #1 starters.

As I predicted, Ottawa could not come close to repeating those goaltending numbers. None of the media ever brought that up as a concern.

I agree 100%. I believe that Leaf fans want an elite team that can compete for he Cup. Toronto fans are highly sophisticated in their hockey knowledge. If they had a young team like Edmonton the fans would be fully supportive of a rebuild that was consistent with what was best to develop the kids. The idea that Leaf fans don't have the patience wait is ludicrous. This argument is a myth advanced by the media trying to hype an easy sports news line.

In terms of your specific comments I found them both stimulating and praiseworthy. Let me be the first to welcome you to the dark side. I promise that you are going to feel very good about your choice.

- spatso

What a mess Edmonton is. And you hated Burke's way of rebuilding.

Leafs rebuild is killing Edmonton's rebuild right now.

There's so much more to rebuilding than getting first overall picks. Like the numerous brilliant trades Burke accomplished to build his team+ drafting great with youngsters like Kadri and Rielly.

You haven't posted lately I've noticed.

Perhaps the Media knows better than you do.

To make such bold claims so early in the season, aren't you risking them coming back and biting you in the ass?

I seem to remember a great start by the leafs a few seasons back, and then a total collapse in December that basically put them out of playoff contention.

Do I think that will happen with this current version of the leafs? No, and do I think the Senators have a problem with their goaltenders? No, it's more of a defensive zone coverage thing, and will need to be worked on, and perhaps an added veteran defence man which is really hard to do in today's NHL.

Ottawa is just giving up to many shots, and take to many penalties............both things that can be worked on. Both goaltenders have respectable Save percentages ( .937 & .911 ) and I know the team is not looking in that direction as something to work on.

Now if the Senators play continues like this for the rest of this month, then they're in danger on being out of the playoff race by the time Christmas comes around.

Not to mention that you're TOTALLY obsessed with my each and every post.

What really irks you is that I am, at times, on the leading edge of an issue that the sheeple, like yourself, have taken to be true, and I point out the other side of the story.

Take the whole "Humans are causing the Earth to Warm" hoax.

I've been presenting, for years now, the other side of the argument (with links tot he facts) and you and the sheeple have parroted what you've been fed by the hoaxers and their useful idiots.

And now, there is overwhelming evidence supporting the side of the issue that I've been championing all along.

Even the BBC has jumped of the "Humans are causing the Earth to Warm" bandwagon when faced with REAL scientific data vs the computer predictions they, and the sheeple, bought hook line and sinker.

Here we're talking about how Ottawa's astronomical goaltending stats weren't sustainable, and how the team is crumbling now.

When you claim someone is lying, there is an onus on you to provide some sort of supporting evidence to back up your claims.

But the as the troll that you are, I don't see you doing that............so continue with your insults and childish jokes........it's along day and you need to waste much more of your employers time and money in this forum.

Oh and by the way, with this terrible start to the season, the Sens are only 5 points out of a playoff spot, with one game in hand (on Montreal), so they are a far from "crumbling". ( again facts blow your take away eh?)

I would define "crumbling" as being up by two goals, with 10 minutes to play in game seven of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and then choking that away..............and being know as the worst game seven collapse in a Stanley Cup playoffs history.

Proof has been provided, you ignored it. No point contaminating another thread with your delusions.

Sens suck, are out of a playoff spot, and things are only looking downhill right now. Must be why you're going back to your happy place of denying global warming.

Leafs did better last year than anyone expected against the eastern conference champs. Ottawa got stomped by the first real team they faced. Of the 4 Canadian teams in the playoffs last year, only Toronto put up a fight.

toronto played one round, Ottawa Two rounds and were the last Canadian team standing.

Again, you just can't accept the real true recorded data that proves humans are NOT causing Global Warming, and choose to believe the Hoax, based on computer model predictions that have been proven wrong.

You've provided ZERO proof disputing the data I've provided (via links) that support my side of the argument.

So just back, make a donation to the WWF to save the polar bears from over population, straighten your picture of Al Gore and light the candles you have placed around it, and continue to waste your boss's time and money.

Keep deflecting away from hockey

Proof has been posted, by many people over many pages of many threads. Why keep going when you refuse to acknowledge the facts?

Toronto had 3 wins against a good hockey team. Ottawa had 1. Imagine if Ottawa had faced Boston? They would have been swept in 3 games.
