Gluck is reeling
- Cape Breton Bruins

He sees his worst fears coming true his season, Ottawa making the playoffs, and possibly going deeper than most of us imagines at the beginning of the season ..... while his leafs and their superstar rookies falling off as the season gets a little tougher.

So he's trying to change the narrative, and put words into the Sens GM's mouth, and trying to convince us that the Sens are "going all out" to win the Cup this season ........... while Making the Playoffs was the stated goal, set out by the GM at the beginning f the season.

October 12, 2016

After missing the playoffs last year and then making plenty of changes — including the hiring of coach Guy Boucher and acquiring centre Derick Brassard from the New York Rangers — the Senators are determined to get back to the post-season.

“I feel good,” said Dorion, who took over the GM’s duties from Bryan Murray at the end of last season. “We’ve said it right from the get-go, we feel we’re a playoff team. We hope we can surprise people once we get in the playoffs.

“I know I’ve used very big words in the summer of what our expectations are. I met with the players, and it will be my only meeting with the players this year before practice today, and it was (to outline) what we feel is the path the Ottawa Senators have to take. We’re ready to go.

Honestly, Ottawa making the playoffs and floundering with their aging roster is the furthest from my fears.

Ottawa getting good ownership and management, and deciding to rebuild and get a quality youth movement going, now that's something that would scare me.

Yup, or even a guy like Nylander if the d-man is top quality and young.

Leafs have an embarrassment of riches at forward. And hell, if Ottawa trades a guy like Zibanejad for Brassard, Bozak should be able to fetch something good from a dumb GM.

- Feeling Glucky?

you have 3 quality guys and then a bunch of "replacement parts" as you like to say. sorry to say but guys like brown, bozak, kapanen, rychel, etc aren't you fetching you top 4 d-men........unless you throw 3 or 4 of them into a package.

you can keep talking about your embarrassment of riches all you want but the fact remains that your D sucks, your goaltending is mediocre, there is nothing coming in the system, and to address those wholes you have to trade a whole bunch of that embarrassment up front and create another whole.

you're the new Edmonton, only with forwards who aren't as good.

You have every right to be wrong. And you're making the most out of your right, it seems. Brown is on pace for a 20 goal season as a rookie, while playing on the PK. I don't expect him to be a part of the Leaf's future top-6, but he'd probably find his way onto the Sen's top line this season .

Kapanen isn't far behind Nylander in terms of talent, and if he hadn't gotten injured this season, he'd be getting a lot more recognition.

Johnson is another top-6 winger in the making, and Leipsic is likely going to develop into a top-9 with skill to play higher in the lineup.

Leivo in limited time with the Leafs has been fantastic, but they've got too much depth for him to get consistent minutes. That's where the embarrassment of riches aspect comes into play.

Leafs have 3 rookies who would be first liners on most teams in the league right now. That's insane.

Their defense needs improving, without a doubt, but they've got the assets to do it.

Prock is pretty good at holding his own. Most of the other guys are less than frivolous. They jump up and down and repeat the same things over and over like they are going to finally convince themselves that what they are saying is true.

kinda dumb to compare the leafs who are on a +90 point pace with stable coaching to the oilers. and no, the early rebuild days of yak, rnh and hall were not better than marner, matthews and nylander.

2009-10 Edmonton Oilers 82 62 Pat Quinn
2010-11 Edmonton Oilers 82 62 Tom Renney
2011-12 Edmonton Oilers 82 74 Tom Renney

i dont know man, im pretty sure the leafs have picked 1st overall 4 times in 6 years while adding a 3rd and 4th, and 7th overall pick into the mix as well. lets not argue the facts when they are so easily obtained.

Look nobody is trying to hurt your feelings or discourage you. But you need a sharp shot of reality. Look at how many really good teams have drafted exceptionally well, brought in some really talented skaters, had promising break out years but fell back and were never able to really capture the full result of that early promise.

I think the Leafs have done really well in drafting and moving beyond the old school style of Fletcher, Burke, Nonis et., al. But, you need to tone down the hype machine. You have not accomplished anything and there are no guarantees in competitive team sports. You have not earned the right to talk like your the supporter of a team that has achieved great accomplishment.

So because the Sens now have (with recent additions) the 6th oldest (average age) roster in the NHL, means they're going to flounder???

So using that logic, I guess the Blackhawks, Penguins and Sharks ........ all who have older (average age) rosters, will also be floundering.

I think it's the whole being old while not having Toews, Kane, Hossa, Malkin, Letang, Crosby, Couture, Pavelski, Thornton equivalents is the main reason why it does 't look like the Sens are destined for a cup with this core. Yeah, it's that. I did the math and it checks out.

Again, another hard headed leaf fan, for some reason thinks that Sens fans expect a Cup this season.

I've clearly stated that the furthest I see the Sens going this season, is the ECF. No I don't expect them to reach the ECF, just saying depending on the seedling, and the match ups, they could.

No.

The sens will be floundering because they don't have a good roster. I thought that part was obvious.

The whole aging thing, combined with not having any top quality prospects, is there to illustrate that they don't have any room for internal improvement.

And from previous posts, they don't have the financial or player assets to improve externally.

I'm sorry if that was too complicated for you to understand. I hope this cleared things up.

FYI, the Leafs have 5 forwards outscoring the Sens second highest scoring forward.

Effectively, what you've just said is that the Leafs have multiple "replacement parts" better than all but one of your forwards.

Being a Sens fan must be so embarassing.

Because of autocorrect I seldom reread my posts...I make lots of errors. Aquinas believed that God was never present to the particular. God could only be experienced in the general.
