Between Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Reilly, Gardiner and Zaitsev they've got a pretty good foundation. A few key moves for more stabilizing veteran presence and they'll be better.

Might I suggest Benoit Pouliot?

The Sens have had a good year. Goalies stepped up real good for them. However they are clearly a go nowhere team that is simply happy to be in a playoff spot.

Need to be careful in setting expectations for next year. Very good chance team comes back to the second half base. They will not surprise other teams next year. The Sens stole a bunch of OT/shoot-out points. May not be nearly as easy as some people think.

- Tumbleweed

"Stole a bunch of single points". So stupid. It's not the team that loses stealing the extra point of a 3 point game, it's the winning team. If you want to look for teams that stand a bigger chance of sliding, look for the ones with a high number of OT/SO wins.

Funny how Sens fans talk about team success while Leaf fans focus on personal insults. Need to lighten up and enjoy the hockey.

What success are you talking about? A Jets prospect's success?

I'm sorry if you're insulted by my accurate description of your posts.

If you don't like being called stupid, maybe try posting things that aren't stupid.

Sens win again. Rolled 4 strong lines. Starting to look playoff ready.

Play Colorado, Arizona and Dallas in next three games.

I'm well aware Karlamov was a great player. There weren't very many outside the NHL in those days though.
- prock

How could you possible know that?

The Red army Team practically beat the NHL All Star team in the Summit Series of 1972 ......... what makes you think that there were not very many good Russian hockey players, in the mid sixties, that could have easily played in the NHL?

Ottawa has 32 ROWs in 64 games. (only 4 SO wins)
They have the 6th best record in the Eastern Conference.
Only 3 teams in the conference have allowed fewer goals.

Ottawa is "full value" for where they sit in the standings, no smoke and mirrors, no more or less "stolen games" than any other team.

Last night Karlsson chased down Pasternak. Hard to believe anyone else in the NHL can match those wheels. Overall a very strong show by the Sens.

"I thought they did a really good job standing in front and creating the screens. That was one of the better teams I've faced in a long time. They get big bodies moving around and finding open space. We didn't do a very good job defending a lot of times." -- Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask

Really its come down to the goalies.. they just havent got the same level since the all star break.

I think the proper context is the Leafs gave away the extra points, they didnt steal 1 point. The were leading a lot of games, not the other way around

It is a good break down. It is not unusual that a young team discovers that the game becomes a lot more intense after the all star break. Last night, the game between Ottawa and Boston was an incredibly hard physical game. Both teams pounded on each other for 60 minutes. Most of the Leaf rookies have not been exposed to that level of physical intensity. They will figure it out and I expect they will have a bit of positive run to end the season.

Burrows has 3 goals in 3 games. Both he and Stalman (1 goal) have been a really big physical presence all over the ice.

People didn't like it much when I said the biggest difference between the early season Leafs and current Leafs was goaltending.

Too simple an explanation. Big difference maintaining a strong GAA in a run and gun game played before the all star game and the crash and bang style that is characteristic of playoff hockey.

It might be less about the goaltender and more about the ability of the defence to keep the attacking players from constantly crashing the goalie's space.

the stats and eye test all point towards goaltending. going from unsustainably good goaltending to average goaltending is enough to kill any borderline playoff team.

Pastrnak isn't a speed demon at all and it was the end of a shift where the Sens leaned on the Bruins in their own zone for about 45 seconds.

Winning is never boring but man as a non fan I kind of forgot about Bouchers trap game, especially with a two goal lead. Not much room out there.

If Anderson plays well you guys have a legit shot of making the ECF.

Yes, as a Senator fan, that watches all the games, on TV or in person (unless traveling) I agree, the games, for the most part are boring to watch ........... but it does help that they win more than they lose ........... it's NJ Devils Jacques Lemaire boring.
