Been too long since I've been there. Definitely going soon. Ever been to Lone Star? Any good?

I also think St.Hubert is over rated. Nandos is delicious. Just a side note.

It you're ever at a Costco, pick these up, they're very good.

Caution, cut small hole, and squeeze out all the excess sauce before preparing them.

- twiztedmike

Let's keep in mind, zone exits for and against are one small part of defensive play, like most stats. Can't look at one stat and think this must mean Marincin is better than Zaitsev.

I'd also be curious to see the trends in this. Especially since it's Zaitsev's rookie year. He may be adjusting to the NHL.

Would think that the adjustment as a defenseman from a bigger rink with less permissable contact to a smaller rink w/ contact would be easy

Adjusting to various differences between NHL and KHL in general.

They play the game very differently in Russia than they do in North America. Sweden plays a much more similar game than the Russians do.

The KHL, from what I've seen, is a much lower contact game, than the NHL game....... but it's the D Men see the most contact ....... but would suggest the intensity of contact is much higher......... so perhaps you have point.

I'm taking the troll stance and saying Zaitsev should find defending @ the NHL easier since you can now throw hits and initiate more contact as a defenseman with less space for opposition forwards

Therefore he sucks & the Leafs still need Phaneuf

LOL. Maybe.

But he may not be used to throwing hits in those situations, so that would take an adjustment.

I said from the start I wouldn't read too much into a single isolated stat over half a season for a guy playing in a new league though. Zaitsev looks like a solid dman. I think he'll probably settle into a very good second pairing role. The Leafs just need one good top notch first pairing dman to go along with Rielly. It'll make all the difference. Add that to this team, give them a year or two to ferment, and you've got a top notch contender. Not a team that just scrapes into the playoffs, a team that consistently contends for the conference. and stands a good shot at winning the cup.
