Profoundly disappointed by those who cheer injuries, especially of the head variety.

McDavid had a wing separated last year and even though he came back before the season ended and had a great finish it still took something away from all fans who love the game.

Panarin won the Calder but there will always be an emotional asterick beside his win because of the injury to McDavid. Same now applies to this year. When the first half leader falls off it raises doubts about any of the leaders coming from the second wave.

Sens being interested in Francois Beauchemin really says it all if true. One of worst defenders I have watched this year. Absolute toast.

Emmanuel Perry ā€@MannyElk
@travisyost I don't think we need any more proof they have no clue how to evaluate defensemen.

I have a hard time believing even the sens management is this dumb.

Beauchimen has a nmc; he'll need protection for the expansion draft if he is willing to waive.

Edit: though it would be awesome if they re-united beauch and Phaneuf.

D0pps. Can you settle this dispute. Is sens management just plain dumb like I think or really dumb like senstroll thinks?

Thanks in advance.

They've made their fair share of "decisions" that I did not agree with at the time, or after a couple of years .......... typical "Monday morning Quarterbacking" that any fan of any team can do.

But "dumb" is not the exclusive domain of an one team in the NHL ........ and I could list a number "dumb moves" the leafs, Habs or Bruins have made.

But the Rumour(s) du jour all stem from the scratching of Bobby Ryan on Saturday night. And I'm pretty sure that is what our friend is alluding to.

Hindsight is 20/20, so it's easy to scrutinize trades, UFA signings or demotions to the minors.

Well it may not be the case. Laine may not be the first half leader. So it may not be an issue.

When I heard that Ryan was scratched Saturday night, my first thought was that the Sens were about to trade him. I was disappointed when he dressed Sunday night. I like the person that Bobby Ryan is but it was a mistake to trade for him and a far greater mistake to resign him to a long term deal. He is not a good enough skater. You can be a weak technical skater when your young. But as you get older the poor skating does you in almost all the time. There are a few exceptions (Brett Hull, and maybe Cory Perry, but even Perry has had extended bad moments this year.)

No one will take him. The Sens are stuck with him and Phaneuf long term, unless they're willing to cough up a boat load of draft picks, and retain a tonne of salary, to dump them. We know the Sens are not willing to do either.

I think the Sens are very happy with Phaneuf. He plays good minutes in tough situations and has been a strong mentor for Ceci. I think Ceci played 27 minutes last night against the Oilers. Nearly 5 minutes more than Karlsson. With Chabot on the horizon the Sens will need to move a Dman but I don't think it would be either Phaneuf or Ceci.

Moving Ryan will not be nearly as difficult as what people might think. The Sens will have 3 and possibly as many as 4 new players coming into their lineup next season. I believe it becomes imperative that Ryan gets moved, sent down or retires.

If Ryan retires, he doesn't get paid, so that's not going to happen. If he gets sent down, it becomes even less likely that he can be traded, and Ottawa is now paying him not to play... which isn't in the wheelhouse of a budget team like the Sens.

In all likelihood, if he gets traded, it's to a team with lots of money, that can send over a bunch of bigger cap hits worth less overall dollars - but there aren't many opportunities like that available... or Ottawa gives up some high picks or prospects to a team with money and cap space. Unfortunately for Ottawa, they don't have much outside of picks to offer, and they need to keep those picks to help their bare cupboards.

I think we see Ryan staying a Sen, at the expense of RFAs looking for raises being sent elsewhere.

When you say "people" you really mean yourself, right?

Ryan has Modified both NTC & NMC clauses in his contract, so HE decides if he gets traded or sent down, not the team.

Itā€™s obvious current sens management includes melnyk in decision making. His tendency to want to reduce costs has led to and will continue to lead to bad decisions.

Curtis Lazar's career goal pace: 6 goals per-82 games.

Is he an NHL'er?

At some point you're gonna have to ask how much his draft status is keeping him around.

Travis Yost ā€@travisyost 18h18 hours ago
Worse EV rate scorers than Lazar: Bellemare, Stoll, Tootoo, Desjardins. That's it.
