Another great game by Sens. Speed really does make a difference when it is played in a structured system. Both Dzingle and Hoffman score, hugely successful season so far heading into Christmas break.

did you notice there was a second name mentioned in the articles about alex debrincat got cut. Logan brown was that other name. sometimes you had to read to the bottom of the article before you got to "also cut was Logan brown".

Logan brown has not played since October. He has a wrist injury. I do not know if he actually tried to play.

"What once looked like one of the most exciting groups of forwards Team USA had put together in a long time now looks like a pretty pedestrian group by World Juniors standards. Some of that was out of their control. They lost Brock Boeser and Max Jones(and likely Logan Brown) to injury. Christian Fischer isn’t on the team because apparently Arizona stands alone in thinking AHL games are important. And they just couldn’t avoid the self-inflicted wound of cutting DeBrincat because they have to convince themselves their stupid summer camp actually matters."

Actually NHL.com/TSN includes Shootout winner as a goal for/against

So the Leafs are actually +4 and Sens -3
Shot differential also in the leafs Favour.

http://www.espn.com/nhl/statistics/team

Team sv% also rising for the Leafs almost the same as sens.

Everything points to a Strong second half for the Leafs

Get over it. It is always about scoreboard. Nobody quotes the loser numbers other than to pretend that losing with hope is more fun than losing without hope.

Can you separate Prospects (which I was talking about) from Current NHL standings?

But if you want to talk about Standings... the Sens are right around the same record as Last season ..where they had all that playoff success

So go on again posting about the Points % and NINTH best record in the NHL just like last season

- senstroll

After 34 games, last season, the Senators had 17 Wins, 17 Losses for 39 points.
They had the 14th best in the NHL record at the time.

After 34 games, this season, the Senators have 20 Wins, 14 Losses for 43 points.
They now sit with the 8th best record in the NHL this season

To me, that is a marked improvement over last year, not "right around" the same record. Also, if you've watched they play this season, they're playing much better in their own end this season, much better than the past two seasons.

But never mind the Standings eh, the NHL awards points for the best fancy stats now, right?

No he predicted the leafs would, "by Christmas time" be ahead of the Senators in the Division.

Then he predicted the Senators "will be out of a playoff spot" by Christmas time.

Then he moved the goal post again, and predicted the Senators "will be out of a playoff spot" by the end of the year.

Then he doubled down, and insisted that his prediction of the leafs finishing ahead of the Senators is still going to happen.

Stay tuned for the latest, when he moves the goal post once again.

The NHL fixates on points, and your red and Blue Chart you posted a few pages back uses Points % as it's ranking criteria, not the fancyboy stats.

Yes Exactly. that Chart is showing how Corsi, Fenwick, shots etc are important. Teams at the top in Blue are there because they have good underlying Numbers.. Team near the top in Red are likely to fall down the standings (chi/nyr/Ott).

That chart is not something that helps your point, its the opposite.

The teams are NOT ranked according to Corsi, Fenwick, shots etc ......... they're ranking according to POINTS PERCENTAGE.

True, but what are the trends?

Are the Senators, or leafs Corsi & Fenwick numbers better or worse now, than earlier in the season?

BTW, what do you think of t Arizona Coyotes general manager John Chayka, and his "all in" big bet on analytics, as the wise way to go for re-building his team?

John Chayka said (back in May of this year ......“We’re putting together a blueprint of what it takes to win, that’s partially quantitative, and that’s partially experience in the league. Some of this quantitative analysis can really help narrow the focus and define what it is these teams that win do, and what are the common elements.”

Also the Panthers, who also went over to analytics as away to build their team after a franchise-best 103-point season, and right after they ended their season, Tom Rowe was promoted to general manager Dave,Tallon was moved out their scouting guru Scott Luce was fired along with five scouts , and proceeded to bring in some mathematical wizards who specialize in advanced hockey statistics or analytics to pick players, prior to the entry draft.

Not to mention that they also traded away three of their starting Defencemen, because their analytics were not good.

How's that working out for them so far?

Part of the Leaf fan discouragement is they did not want this to be a great rookie year with so many great young players stepping up. Laine is a superb talent.

Congrats on being the #1 Hockeybuzz Halfwit Blowhard.

Leaf fans discouraged because rookies on other teams are playing well.
Good grief.
