Guess we figured out who is the dumbest.

Very clever and quick too! Took less than 1/2 day for you to lay out that zinger. You and Tweeddledumb seem to have a natural affinity for each other's insightful postings.

Leafs have comfortably slipped into last place in the Atlantic Division and Tweedledee and Tweedledumb are still fascinated by the impending rush they are about to make to the head of the class.

Problem with scoreboards is that they measure outcomes. The statistics that really matter suggest that the premature celebration among blue and white kool aid drinkers has been somewhat misguided. We are only a few days away from Christmas and it appears that the Leafs have successfully positioned themselves to compete for another top draft pick.

Overall, I love the Shanaplan. We all know it was 10 years too late. But for the premature speculators it is still a few years away from producing fruit.

Your not the dumbest poster on this site and you are not the most naive. All things considered you do okay if we take into account your limitations. I do enjoy your sharp wit and your creative zingers. You have strong potential.

Comfortably eh? They're tied for last in the division, within 2 points of 4th. With the second place team losing quite a few games lately, and with a brief reprieve from a tougher portion of the schedule, are now entering another one.

I'm enjoying watching these kids play so well, and develop. It's quite clear there are big things in their future.

Don't worry Spatso, there are big things in the Sens future too. A rebuild.

Ottawa is 4-4-2 in their last ten games, while the leafs are 3-4-3

Fourth in the Division means nothing, because the Metro Division has pretty much sewn up the two WC spots, so the leafs are 6 points out of third (the only achievable playoff spot for them)in their division, with 2 games in hand ........ so it's not impossible for them to challenge for that third spot in the division.

The chances of the Sens landing in a playoff spot is still pretty thin. I'd say the 2nd and 3rd spot are pretty much still completely up for grabs.

Not that I think the Leafs will make it. I still expect Tampa and Montreal to be 1-2. Third spot is looking more like Boston than anyone else.

It will all depend on how the Lightning will play until Stamkos gets back into their line up.

I agree that Boston probably has the edge on Ottawa, because they have their Starting Goaltender in their lineup, and I don't think Ottawa knows when theirs will be back in their lineup.

Tough game tonight for the Sens, who have not won a game in the Windy City for 15 years.

I think Tampa has a serious problem on the back end and they don't have anything beyond their first pairing. If Tampa pulls the trigger on Shattenkirk (or a similar defender) the might get back in the race. But they will continue to struggle without back end help.

Ottawa has better speed than Montreal and handles them pretty well in head to head play. I think Ottawa is going all in this year. They think they can get past Montreal and to the conference final.

I think they are very happy with their D and the way they have been able to significantly reduce their goals against. Phaneuf has been superb over the last month, a real warrior challenging the other team's top skaters. Ceci has actually logged more minutes than Karlsson in a few games lately.

I do anticipate a fairly large trade immediately after Christmas. The Sens will add firepower and even more speed to their top 6.

Agreed. Sens should load up.

They don’t have a future at this point anyways, so why not see what Chabot, white, brown and your 1st next year can get you.

One round of playoff revenue will mean a lot to old man melnyk. Worth selling the farm over for him.

Ek has doan and iginla available as two top deadline targets. Probably a good place to start is with them

Did some jackass say Chabot and White would be captains for their world junior teams?

Neither are.

I like what the Leafs are doing and for years I argued they should be playing the young guys.

Ottawa, on the other hand, has decided to go the slower development route. Come the end of December, the likely captains of Team Canada (Chabot) and Team USA (White) are Senator prospects and there will be a good sprinkling of other Sens prospects through the tournament.

Sens fans are well familiar with the development cycle of young players. It is fun but it also slows down after meeting each of the other teams for the first time.

The hardest part is that in the second year of development the team sometimes seems to fall off because of weakness at specific positions (goal and defence are the usual killers).

There are many teams that have had great drafting cycles over the past 5 years including Edmonton, Buffalo, Phoenix, Calgary, Winnipeg and Florida. The Leafs are certainly moving inside that group.

Can the Leafs get to the next level? Perhaps. They have had a nice start. But you need to be careful as it can all fall apart in December when teams tighten up their defensive play.

Not so likely.

Seems like you think a little too highly of ottawa prospects, like usual. Chabot, White, Brown. Another group following in the footsteps of Shane Prince, Stefan Noesen, and Cody Ceci.

I think both are A's. Chabot said: "It's special to wear that jersey and to have a letter on it is even more special. I'm glad the coach said I was a good leader."

Imagine Marner or Matthews were still in junior. they'd be bumped a step further down again.

Following Cody Ceci's lead. Remember when he got those first line minutes in the World Championship, against France and Belarus? He really did eat up those minutes against France and Belarus, so they could give Morgan Rielly a rest, so Rielly was ready for the good teams.

Jeez, couldn't play Rielly too much, he had to play in the World Cup too. Imagine they didn't have Ceci to play against France, and glue to the bench later on? that would have been an even busier summer for Rielly, with the World Cup too. Good thing Ceci got that time to rest eh?
