This past season I didnt pick them to make the playoffs either. I was surprised at how well they ended up playing overall. I am still unsure if it were an 82 game season if they still couldnt have found a way to screw it up tbh. They didnt have the best possession numbers and seemed to win most games while being outshot etc.

One thing I have come around on is Phil Kessel. I liked him but thought the trade was unnecessary at the time and clearly in Bostons favor. Now I dont feel that so much after seeing how he preformed in the playoffs and has become much more than just a goal scorer. You can see he is one of the most talented players on the ice at all times, always dangerous. I hope he can step it up a couple notches more that he is in his prime 25-28.

This coming season assuming no further changes are made, Adding Bolland, Bernier and Clarkson I am pretty confident they are at least in the top 8 somewhere.

Kessel is a superstar. He plays every game, and is now PPG regular season player and playoff performer And he does this with Bozak as his centre.

I picked them to miss the playoffs too. The issue I have is if a guy on TSN picks them to make it, he's a lahuingstock to make the Leaf-haters happy.

So if finishing with 52 points, and eighth in the NHL points (last season) and with 82 points and 6th in points the 2011/12 season , makes him a superstar.............then I guess that means Spezza who finished ahead of him in points in the 2011/12 season (4th overall) is also a superstar?

So despite the fact that Spezza is ranked 6th among active NHLers in P/PG
http://www.quanthockey.co...nts-per-game-leaders.html
Sidney Crosby.......................1.415
Alexander Ovechkin...............1.223
Evgeni Malkin........................1.223
Jaromír Jágr..........................1.214
Teemu Selänne.....................1.031
Jason Spezza.......................1.016

Your logic is that he (Spezza) is NOT a superstar............but Kessel, who is not even ranked in the top 50 among active NHLers in P/PG somehow is a superstar????

Is this is what you call "leaf fan logic"?

Goddamn you're stupid.

It's just amazing, really.

I'm not even agreeing with the guy that says Kessel is a superstar... but if this is your argument...

wow.

Do you get help putting your socks on in the morning? Like, if the social workers weren't helping you, would you be wearing them on your hands instead?

Because we'd all benefit if that was the case.

Outrageously misleading. Spezza had averaged 72 games a year for the last five years leading into his past season. But backs can be tricky. If Spezza and Ryan connect, they should be a very strong pair.

only counting the last 4 seasons because Kessel has been a Leaf for only 4. So the past 4 seasons Spezza averaged 58/82 games. He is 70.73% superstar, not a full superstar

How about this?

1) Younger players who didn't immediatedly light up the league will have their numbers skewed by their early years, and a career PPG doesn't illustrate the level of competition the player is currently at..

2) if either of you had bothered to read the link, you'd see that Kessel, along with any other player that hasn't hit 500 points yet(think Hall, Stamkos, Eberle, Giroux, Tavares- all of whom anybody in their right mind would take over Spezza) is excluded from that list.

3) deal with those facts

So is it "leaf fan logic" to cherry pick the stats that makes Kessel a superstar in the eye's of leaf fans..................when his career stats (P/PG) has him at about .75 P/PG???

Kessel isnt even included in the list that he is quoting... awesome. In that case Kessel isnt even top 700

According to "sens fan logic" career points per game for players who have over 500 points is the only way to judge talent. Therefore, Kaberle, the way he is currently playing, is a better player than Karlsson.

The list quite clearly states >> Qualifying criterion: At least 500 career points

Current season NHL stats last updated: June 25, 2013

Perhaps I gave some of you leaf fans to much credit, thinking you'd read that.

Kessel career stats has him at around .75 P/PG..................and this somehow makes him a superstar in some leaf fans eyes.

nice backtrack
Does that put him in the top 50?

Spezza has 4 pro seasons on Kessel, Lets compare in 4 years when Kessel plays his prime seasons also age 25-29

As previously stated (and as usual, ignored by you) I don't agree with that assesment. I just had to comment on the sheer stupidity of using career point-per-game of players with 500 career points to argue that an oft-injured veteran is better than a burgeoning young talent who hasnt' yet met the qualifications of the list.
