None. I don't go to sporting events. Not my thing.

You must admit, it's ironic, in one breath, these fools go on about "it's all suits at the ACC", and then "look at what you pay for tickets".

Do you really think they're paying for those tickets? Nope. They're provided by companies, or written off by many attending.

And when you think about it, if a company writes off a $400 ticket, it lowers their corporate profit by that $400 (plus beer!), and hence, the taxes that company pays. Which, in the end, lowers the tax coffers, and the cost is spread across the population of Canada.

So hey Dopps, you loser, you're paying for me to go to Leaf games and drink beer. Hahahahaahahah.

And then, the Leaf fans who can’t afford tickets at the game, see some nice cheap available tickets in Ottawa, and go on road trips.

End result – Sens fans end up paying for the wealthy Leaf fans to go to games and drink beer, and yet they still owe their existence to the Leafs, and the fans who don’t pay the high prices, as if they didn’t go, that sad sack franchise would probably fold.

What relevance is this?

Unless you're trying to tell us that Ottawa citizens actually pay MORE than we do for Leaf fans to go to their games?

It was your reference to wealthy Leaf fans being subsidized by Ottawa fans that I thought was kind of distorted. This is not an issue of financial well being of the community. it is about demand based on population. The GTA/Ottawa population ratio is close to 5:1. All other factors are essentially trivial.

And you're calling ME dumb as a post? The average salaries of the two cities is totally irrelevant to the "suits", a term that OTHER fan bases like to use, ATTENDING the game.

The comment was on the cost of the tickets, as everyone else loves to point out, for the "suits" to attend Leaf games, is very rarely paid for by the suits themselves. They're corporate tickets, and if you can't see that as tax writeoffs, are to an extent paid for by the entire tax paying population, you're the one that is dumb as a post.

Smarten up, chump. I'm smarter than you, so don't try that with me.

It does not work that way. When a business buys a package of tickets for promotional purposes it is simply a business expense. So, for example, Yellow Pages has x number of tickets to give to loyal customers in Ottawa and Toronto. GTA Yellow Pages can probably cost justify giving out tickets at a 4:1 ratio over Ottawa Yellow Pages.

It absolutely works that way. Since it seems you need one, let me give you a quick lesson – when bought by a business, they are expenses. Profit is revenue less expenses. Therefore, a ticket purchased by a company, is listed as an expense. That expense directly reduces the profit of that business. Corporations pay taxes on their profit. In Canada, it’s 25%. So, a $400 ticket(according to the other Sens idiot here) purchased by a company reduces the profits of that company by $400, vs not purchasing that ticket.

It is actually an important point. I think actually you understand the point. Yellow Pages does not purchase tickets to reduce profit. They give out tickets to preferred customers as part of their client retention program. I am certain they can cost justify and clearly demonstrate how their ticket program supports their sales.

I know the hockey markets in Sunrise and Tampa pretty well and a bit on the Carolina market. Ottawa is a pretty solid market on its own. Comparison between the GTA and Ottawa in any kind of hockey marketing model is entirely foolish.

Next is Ottawa Calgary and Winnipeg

Next is Toronto

Next is Vancouver

In 3-4 years Winnipeg Toronto Edmonton Calgary will all be forces.
