If you mean covering up your spending mistakes by shipping out terrible contracts, taking one back and burying them in the AHL or on the IRL.......... then no, toronto has Ottawa beaten in that department,

But when you claim that the Sens have a "Cheap owner" and he's spending just 285K less than the leafs are, on their respective rosters, then you're not making a lot of sense, and seem to be misinformed.

Ottawa's overall salary total has risen as younger players re-sign in the off season, and that's the nature of any level headed re-build. Ottawa is a number of year ahead of where the leafs are, and they will do the same thing once their prospects on the AHL roster make it to the NHL club and move beyond their ELCs.

A few years ago leaf fans were crowing about their team spending to the Cap, as the way to go, and now that they've taken the same route as the Senators have taken, all of a sudden what the leafs are doing is the way to go.

Been there done that.......... Sens are in a better position than the leafs as they're a few years ahead in the same re-build route, and will contend for the Cup sooner.

Was odd to see Andrew Raycroft playing in the "Alumni Game" and the next day seeing Tuuka Rask play in the "Heritage Classic".

... Oh and Ottawa has 5.943 Million in Cap space, and the leafs have 5.658 Million, so a difference of 285K makes the leafs a Big spender, and the Sens "very cheap" ................yeah that makes sense
- D0PPELGANGER

So Ottawa "trying to win" is still below a team not trying to win, who have 9 million in one year roster filler deals and another 10+ million in contracts they would love to dump.

Yup, that is a "I want to win" owner.

Nylander, Reilly, Marner and another top 6-10 pick this year tells me Leafs 100%

Especially when you factor in the Babcock and Stamkos effect.

I am worried the leafs will fall out of the bottom 10 teams now.
they have been playing very well. they are projecting to finish ahead of Ottawa now

I think I may have said as much a few pages back.

Sens are in tough for the next couple of weeks vs the Blues, Panthers, Bruins, Caps and then on the Road vs all the California teams ........ always a tough road trip.

the sens are not a very good team...Decent offence, Karlsson is basically the only thing keeping them afloat..and Anderson. They bring back nightmares of the Carlyle leafs and the Mirage in the standings at this time of year.

they might have one of the worst coaches in the League.

Leafs are a better team in a better situation

Dave Cameron has only coached 95 games in the NHL, and has a .611 P% so far.

There are only 6 active NHL coaches with a higher P% than Cameron, so your claim that he is "one of the worst coaches in the League" is very inaccurate, and usually you stand pretty strong on stats, but I think you may be a little biased on this one.

I think also that Mike Hoffman (15th in Points) and Bobby Ryan (13th in Points) might have a little more to do with how the Senators are playing than just the two you mentioned.

Points % is garbage info on todays NHL. you get points for losing a (frank)ing game

watched them last night against the Blues.

Most undeserved win I've seen so far this season. Ridiculous.

A quick look again at the numbers

PDO 101.3 (6th highest in NHL)
CF% 46.5 (29th)
SF% 45.4 (29th)
SOG differential -175 (30th)

PDO has dropped IIRC it was 103+..and naturally they have slid down the standings since.

the shot differentials would be a huge concern for me if I was a sens fan..but Luckily I am not... and Dave Cameron has a .611 P%

So a "good" Coach should not try to gain as many points as possible?
