By looking at the standings, I'm starting to think the Leafs will need an even BETTER coach than the best coach in the world.
- Pecafan Fan

So you believe they should be higher in the standings with that talent?

call him one of the best coaches or a top coach or whatever

but to continually preface his name with "Best Coach in the World Mike Babcock" like it was some freaking lifetime achievement award he won is pathetic

one Cup, one finals and squeezed some early round exits out of a few of his detroit teams. Good sure, but anyone saying he (or any coach) is the definitive "Best in the World" just sounds like a moron

I think even steedot would have won those 2 medals behind the bench.

Excuses. They bombed in two of the Olympics with a lot of talent.

He did an incredible job in 2014'.

And who would be the leafs options to be world class players ,at the nhl level ??Easy to play this game, also didnt realise players stop being able to grow after 22 years old
- top shelf 15

I am not saying that the leafs have that. I am told all of the Sens good young players are playing in the NHL already and thats why they have such a weak prospect ranking.

what is the cutoff for "young" then?
I am trying to see the Sens good "young" talent that is playing in the NHL

He's top 3 I'd say.

Quenneville, Hitchcock, Babcock. No specific order. I don't care enough to post charts and graphs to support this though.

I like Hitchcock a lot as a defensive coach, but he's on the verge of being fired. His act wears thin after 2-3 years.

Quennville wasn't successful until he joined a great team in Chicago. He had crap results in Colorado and St-Louis.

stone and hoffman i guess. maybe ziba? those guys and karlsson are the only players that seem pretty good to me. rest of them are dime a dozen type players from my perspective.

You can't blame either of those guys for the Blues playoff curse. Both coached them to insane records but they'll never win a thing.

Regular season success and going-out in the first round yearly is not "Insane" results. The Blues have really good depth and arguably, the top 3 defense in the NHL.

Its just endless ammunition for trolling.

If you watch the leafs you can see they are improved, if you look at the underlying numbers you can see they are improved. Babcock is a good coach, just enjoy the fact we have him... in silence. we dont have any ground to chirp from yet.

The leafs started off so poopty it was great.. thanks to some awful Bernier tending. If he was average the first 10 games the leafs would have another 3 or 4 wins. I am glad they didnt, but that would put them in 17th in the NHL instead of 29th

they cant score..its great.. I hope they stay in 29th

MPS is on the first line with tarasenko lol. line 3 and 4 are completely incapable of scoring and line 2 would be dead without steen. hitchcock has them playing a really good possession game and it's getting them wins regardless though. they are entirely built around his system. he's a really good coach.

and they are a terrible team.

24th in Goals against
26th in shots per game
30th in shot differential by a large margin

so the Sens rebuild that started around 2011 has created a very average to below average team.

Karlsson is the best thing about the team.

- senstroll

The Re-build is still in progress. Did you really think this team is not going to improve over the next few season?

The Defence Corp for example, is one of the youngest and least experienced in the League.

Marc Methot leads the team in regular season games played with 469, then comes Erik Karlsson with 427 , followed by Jared Cowen with 239, Patrick Wiercioch 181, Cody Ceci 159, Mark Borowiecki 114 and Chris Wideman with only 19.

This time last year Babcock was the consensus top coach. What changed?

If a Detroit fan said this last season, would your reaction have been the same?

Phil Kessel, despite production being down with better players seems to not be getting any criticism like the last 6 years. What has changed?

- RogerRoeper

This time last year Babcock was coaching the Wings, and (on this date) had played 31 games, 20 Wins for 41 points.

This time this year, without Babcock, the Wings (on this date) have played 30 games, 16 Wins for 38 points.

So not much has changed in Detroit with Babcock gone.
