Why do teams win more games at home than on the road? Could it simply be that teams play better at home than on the road? Nah, I bet those damn stats nerds are skewing the wins and losses. Makes way more sense.

Ottawa Senators in better position.

talk all you want about prospects and the AHL affiliates, this thread is about the NHL teams.

Ottawa went thought it's re-build a number of years ago, and the leafs just started theirs..... none of us can measure the future success either re-build, so speculation on the future is futile. leaf fans cannot accept the fact that over the past decade Ottawa has been the better team of the two, based on results on the NHL ice............so they keep telling everyone how much better their team will be in the future, and have been doing so for 10 years now................ still waiting.

So what you're saying is the stat keepers are inflating the visiting team's shots for, making the home team look worse?

did you miss the part where I mentioned Henrik Lundqvist?

Ottawa is 8-6-1 on the road, and 7-4-4 at home.
Boston is 10-2-2 on the road, and 6-7-1 at home
Florida is 7-6-2 on the road, and 7-6-2 at home
Philadelphia is 7-7-2 on the road, and 5-5-4 at home
Columbus is 7-10-0 on the road, and is 4-7-3 at home

That is only looking at the East

Yes, those five teams really do prove that home teams don't win more often than road teams. The years of data probably going back to the start of the league are irrelevant because Florida has the same record home and away so far this year.

Their better young talent is currently playing on the team you big dunce... What do the Leafs have? Unproven talent, that is all...
- habman75

In the last post you responded about "Prospects" because clearly you had no idea what a good position the Leafs were in. Now you're changing the subject.

Organizations have different ideas about developing young talent. Connor Brown and William Nylander were the two best Leafs in the preseason and good enough to be in the NHL. The Leafs made a decision to let them develop more in the AHL.

To somehow argue because a player "Made" the NHl before another and therefore is proven, is silly. Noah Hanifin "Made" the Hurricanes at 18. I guarantee there's no way ell he would have stayed on the Leafs at 18 if he was chosen by them.

Yeah because the Leafs are way ahead of the Sens in prospects, that's why you don;'t want to discuss it. When this thread started, it was about prospects. All of a sudden we're not supposed to discuss it.

I had so many Senators fans tell me until the Leafs rebuild properly they won't win. Now they're doing that you guys no longer want to comment on it.

Over the past decade the Sens have been a far better organization than the Leafs. I have no issue admitting it. But in the end, there's no cup to show for it.

So I guess the only way this thread's question can be answered, is when one of the two Ontario based teams wins the Cup.

This thread will be around for a long time.

I love the Leafs chances to be a true contender sooner rather than later. World's best coach, top prospect pool, top management team.

The Sens are stuck with a horrific, cheap owner.

By what measuring stick do you claim the leafs have the "top management team"?

Also, can you give us an timeline estimate as to when having the " top prospect pool " translates into being a "true contender"

Two players that just need to go are Cowen and Weircioch ,they just arent good enough for the role we need them to play .Been the biggest issue with this team for the last few seasons

I would not give up on Cowen just yet. He's only played 239 regular season NHL games.

Zedno Chara only played 231 regular season games for the Islanders, before they "threw him in" the trade for Yashin.

They did not let him develop into the player he became.

I know ,he could use more development time .Too bad about him crying about going back to bingo early in his career ,its really starting to show just how much more teaching needs to be done with him

Don't know what you're talking about.

He only played in Binghamton right after his final season with Spokane ended, and that was in the playoffs..........so doubt that he whined about being part of a Calder Cup Championship???

Oh, he played 3 regular season games in Binghamton, when the NHL owners locked out the Players...........so there would not have been a reason to "cry" as you put it.

Actually hies exact words were “It’s been weird,”

and they are a terrible team.

24th in Goals against
26th in shots per game
30th in shot differential by a large margin

so the Sens rebuild that started around 2011 has created a very average to below average team.

Karlsson is the best thing about the team.

Can't believe all the ice time that (frank)ing plug Cowen gets...
Can't they just waive him and call someone up instead?

You make it sound as if we are done rebuilding, or developing our youth. Our team is littered with 20 year old first and second year players ,you seem to think that what a player does in the lower leagues automatically ensures the exact type of production at a higher level . Iam sure some of your kids will struggle with making the jump ,and have a hard time being consistant .But iam sure i wont be here belittling your team

Yep that lack of a solid 2nd pair just opens up so many issues,we have a pretty good top pair ,a decent bottom pair (when playing bottom pairing mins) and we have Ceci .We spend some much time defending because of these two bums we can never maintain any offensive attack ,after EK leaves the ice
