It's quite clear you;re envious of Ottawa, but that's okay, maybe you'll make it here one day and find out what people who don't live here already know.

Also, could you give me an example of when I ignored someone who proved me wrong on something?

what does fodder mean?

Also, been to Ottawa plenty. Sister went to school there.

Sparks street is nice. Beaver tails are tasty. The upside down canoe museum looks cool. Wait, no, not Ottawa. Ottawa is close to that upside down canoe museum which looks cool.

Green with envy.

2014 Ottawa was ranked #4, and now in 2015 Ottawa is #2 on the list.

I see you're ignoring the lists I posted. If you can't see them, they aren't true!

Edit: isn't this the same lust as before but published by Huffington post?

hmm... maybe I should post the last decade's worth of links from the other sources showing Toronto as a better city.

I get that you've got your whole big city envy going, and all. But saying Ottawa is a better city because it's close to a city that actually is on Toronto's level is just silly.

Probably the only thing Ottawa actually has going for it - housing prices - reflect it's status as a generally inferior city. People don't want to live there.

Leafs are going to attempt to deep dive and get top draft picks for a few years. They want to suck for at least three years. But, could they even mess that up!

I know Ottawa being ranked #2 really bothers you, and Gatineau #17 is also ranked higher than toronto #35 and trending down from #32 last year.

I don't know where you get this idea that Ottawa is a better city because it's close to Montreal, as far as I can see it's you that keeps bringing it up.

Personally I prefer a smaller City like Ottawa, over a megalopolis like toronto or any other large city you would care to name. It's easier to get around in by Car, public transit biking etc.

You make a great point about the affordable housing, and that also extends to all other costs of living in this area. Commuting from the outer edges of Ottawa to the downtown core by car is much quicker and efficient than what I've heard from friends who commute in toronto. I travel frequently through toronto, and you can have the grid lock and the crazy lane shifting idiots who think it's a race along the 401.

Ottawa

Median Household Income: $86,443
Average Household Net Worth: $533,051
Average Value Of Primary Real Estate: $422,252
Average Time To Buy A Home: 3.9 years
Property Tax: 2.46%
Average Property Tax: $2,498
Average Property Tax As A Percentage Of Average Income: 2.3%
Crime Rate – 5-Year Change: -23.7%

Ottawa is a beauty town. I really like Toronto too but it's too big for me having grown up in small town NS. Love visiting there but couldn't imagine living in such a busy place.

It's pretty sad that you need to talk up your small town so much, just because you know your team has no past/present/future worth celebrating.

lets bring this full circle. I'd rather live in the metropolis and cheer for a team that's had lots of success in the past - and a management group that's at least willing to try and win... than live in a town who's best trait is being close to another metropolis, and cheer for a team with no tradition of anything(except embarrassing spartan routines)- and an owner who only really cares about funding his extended vacation in the Caribbean.

I've lived in small towns all my life in North America and Europe, until I moved to Ottawa.

I'm like you, I like to visit larger Cities, but knowing the Benefits, in all aspects of day to day life of living in Ottawa, I could not imagine living in a city the size of toronto.

And which of those benefits are of concern to a 20-something multimillionaire?

Cheap costco beer?
Proximity to a city they actually want to be in?

I guess you think a "20 something multimillionaire" is the norm.

But I suspect you're referring to leaf players.

I'm talking about the average person.

BTW, I wonder how many leaf players live year round in toronto. I can see they have to once training camp starts, but after the annual golf tournament, held the weekend after the season ends, I suspect many head home to other locations.

well, since this is a hockey forum, and a thread about which team is in a better situation, I figured you were bringing up this whole "which city is better" thing in context to that. Otherwise, it seems like it'd just be a poor attempt at trolling.

Nope, I thought we were comparing cities, to show which city players, high-end coaches, and top hockey minds would rather sign with.

Apparently you had something else in mind.

Matt O’Connor grew up as a leafs fan, became enamoured with Ken Dryden, and signed with the Senators.

maybe he saw a team with a very... fluid goaltending situation and figured it was his best bet at coming up through the ranks quickly.

Especially with the high probability that Ottawa is going to trade away one of their more established goalies in favour of 20 game- Hammond.

His services might be needed this season.

Barring injury, Matt O'Connor will play all season in the AHL.

Again, Ottawa has only one "established goaltender" Anderson.

Lehner has played 86 NHL games, and Hammond has 27 games played in the NHL.

the leafs have done a complete 180 since Last July. they went from one of the worst run Org (worst imo) to one of the best.

there is always a chance of missing on moves, but the rate of errors they make will go down substantially

Its a good time to be a leafs fan .. Finally
I feel bad for anyone who abandoned ship

You may be a little too optimistic, when claiming they're "one of the best"......... they've not done enough to jump to the top of that list. Give it some time, and see what happens in the next year.
