Toronto is such a momentum team - they were garbage in that first period, but as soon as they got the first goal they just started swarming. Both teams are capable of playing a lot better than they did tonight, but there were very entertaining portions of the game. This thread will live on...

SENS win but they got brutally outshot by the LEAFS

both teams are in a terrible situation but current answer = SENS

- daeth

Not Ottawas' best game, they played the night before on the road while the leafs did not, so should have been an easy win for a desperate team, but the leafs did not show up until midway through the second period when Ottawa was running out of gas.

Stone (17:53), Condra (17:44) & Pageau (16:27) were Ottawas' top three forwards in TOI, because the other forwards were showing signs of fatigue from the previous nights' game...................but it was good enough to beat a team on one of their worst win-less streaks in a few decades.

It's a deep draft, much deeper than last year, so if a team has done it's scouting well, they'll get a good prospect in the first round.

I listen to what guys Like Bob McKenzie say about drafts, he has a few shows during the year to update the state of the upcoming draft. Last year he characterized it as weaker than usual, and this years' as deep.

BTW read this in the toronto Sun today.........
http://www.torontosun.com...nsity-in-loss-to-senators
leafs are down to a measly 3.8 per cent chance of qualifying for the playoffs (according to sportsclubstats.com.)

Yes, the Leafs do have a better chance at a high pick than the Sens, too add to our already superior prospect pool, including this guy:

1. William Nylander, C, Toronto Maple Leafs (previous ranking: 4)
Current team: Toronto Marlies (AHL) | 2014-15 stats: 21 GP 8 G 12 A
DOB: 5-1-96 | Draft: No. 8, 2014

The top group were all close for me, and I would not say that putting Nylander No. 1 was an easy call. I leaned toward him because he stands out. His skill level is unique, his play in Sweden this year has been unique, the way he weaves through the neutral zone and gains the blue line effortlessly is unique. He's by no means a perfect player -- he has to improve his play off the puck and get a lot stronger -- but the upside is quite tantalizing.

Tons of upside. Going to be an adjustment trying to use his skill on the smaller ice and be defensively responsible as a Center but he has the goods.

Starting as a winger in the AHL. May stay that way, or may take the Kadri route

As for weaknesses, Nylander's shots can be blocked relatively simply and his pattern of moves does make him susceptible to opponent pokechecks. Generally a lightweight who is neither tall nor well-built in the muscular department, although this doesn’t prevent him from being highly effective and dangerous. Doesn’t always show vigor in backchecking. Desire for puck possession can slow down other teammates or cause them to regularly relocate themselves onsides.

He was ranked 26th by hockeysfuture.com in their Preseason Prospect Rankings for 2014-15.

So, according to your 1 guy he's passed 25 other top prospects in just under 4 months, some who are currently playing in the NHL.

Is there another definition of "prospect" that we don't know about?

Does that make sense to anyone?

The list is from before the season started, so I know that when I posted it, but I asked if he has now raced to the top that list, or the NHLcom list, as claimed, and is now the number one prospect in the world?

So from your list these are the players with Zero NHL exp

Anthony Mantha
Sam Bennett
Nikolaj Ehlers
Andrey Vasilevskiy
Josh Morrissey
Michael Dal Colle
William Nylander

Its easy to see why Nylander has gone up.. he played in a Mens league and was pretty dominant.. scored at a rate comparable to NHL stars as 18 year olds

he then was one of the most dynamic player at the WJC..being one of the leading scorers.

easy to see imo
