A quick look at each players resumes' tell a different story.

One player has gone all the way in the CHL and the Memorial Cup........both the great preperation for the NHL, the other has little playing time in the North American environment

Yeah the Guy who scored the OT winner for the Oil Kings 2:42 into the third overtime of the semifinal against Foreurs goalie and leaf prospect Bibeau , and then went on to win the Memorial Cup, was a passenger, made no difference in the tournament.

I have a funny feeling that last year at this time, you wouldn’t have made the same comments about the Leafs picking up Dave Bolland, who scored the game winning goal in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final against Boston.

Wasn’t Bibeau named the goalie of the tourney?

Surely Lazar was named the best forward?

You realize when you hype the kid this way, you raise expectations and the possibility that the kid will disappoint because he is not an instant superstar.
- spatso

I don't expect him to play in the NHL this year. Might get some time next season.

Not expecting an instant super star... just expect him to be better than ottawa's golden 2nd/3rd line prospect.

So overhyped. How many kids playing second fiddle on their junior team have seen get this much hype before???

True. Drouin doesn't lead his team at all. Ehlers is the obvious obvious choice.

Maybe I have to spell it out for you. Not surprising.

Drouin was the key to one of the top teams in the league this year, and was, without a doubt, not second fiddle to anyone.

He put up massive points last year, even with MacKinnon in the team, and was frequently talked about as a potential number one pick even last year. I wouldnt say either MacKinnon or drouin played second fiddle last year.

Lazar was, without a doubt, second fiddle, if even that, to Henrik Samuelson this past year. Hell, third when you consider the role griffin Reinhart played, and maybe even further considering what kulda did in the playoffs and mem cup.

Beyond idiotic. Now your even arguing with the reasoning of the coach of the Memorial Cup champions. Samuelson did not even get the invite to play for Team USA at the WJC. Just about every coach has said about Lazar:

“Curtis is one of those players that at the end of the night, you look at the scoresheet you might not see his name, but you look back at the game tape and he did a lot of things.”

In addition to actually putting up great numbers he plays a 200' game. He is as valuable for his ability to shut down and out score the opposing teams top player.

I keep forgetting you think Bozak is better than Turris.

How lovely. That's exactly why he's third or fourth fiddle. There were several other players that were on that team that you DO see on the score sheet and KNOW they were awesome.

All Prock wants is to avoid any discussion that involves a realistic discussion of the fragile psyche and performance of the Leafs. He simply says outrageous things to draw the conversation away from Leaf reality.

For example, he will not discuss the fact that Kadri was on the ice for all three goals scored by the B Sens. Or, he will not acknowledge the Leafs were outshot 70-49 over the two games (a key point in the Augello blog). He attacks as a matter of misdirection and avoidance. But, he usually projects his anxiety about the Leafs in most of his comments. When he says something hostile about a Senator player it is really about his Leaf anxiety.

He would not understand it himself but his irrational attack on Lazar tells you more about t his thinking of Leaf concerns. For example, we see a good young player with a 200' game, perhaps it has something to do with............

Love how you think this is relevant in any way. He was on the ice during pp when franson made a horrendous giveaway causing a breakaway from the offensive blueline that the goalie looked weak on. Kadri must be terrible defensively if you had bothered to watch the game you'd know that outside of the one bad giveaway (which isn't a sign of defensive ability) he was actually really good defensively in that game. Made lots of plays in the defensive zone.
