Curtis Lazar was pretty good last night, I thought.

Plus he's on a 2way, so it's most likely he'll play at least one more season in the AHL

Agree, and he's put on a lot of weight since I last saw him during the Memorial Cup, and will most likely stay with the team for the first nine games of the season if he keeps playing like he did last night.

hows pumpel looking, any chance of him making the lineup?
- nightmare3020

Ottawa has so many great young guys. Puemple would make the team if it were not for Lazar who is looking more and more like a lock to start the season. And, if it were not for Lazar and Puemple we would be looking closer at Buddy Robinson who is a great physical presence on every shift. In addition Hoffman and Pageau have looked really strong since day one of camp. Mark Stone will make the team.

My guess is that Ottawa is going to move some players between now and Christmas to make space for call ups. They have the same kind of crush on the blue line. Ceci has played really well, so has Claesson. But, they already have too many guys on NHL contracts.

Don't tell me that there are not alarm bells going off at MLSE offices this morning. Kadri was on the ice for all three goals scored by the B Senators. They were outshot 70-49 in the two games.

You cannot win in this league unless you can stop the other team from controlling puck possession. Last night the Leafs were as bad as they were at the end of last year.

I would not worry about the game result in Ottawa as the Leafs simply had no answer for Karlsson, Turris, Ryan and MacArthur. But the ACC result is problematic. The score itself is not the problem. The problem is the inability of the Leafs to maintain and drive any semblance of puck possession.

alarm bells don't go off becuase of one preseason game...........anderson let in a couple of softies last night, should sens management be panicking. teams are still forming, figuring out who plays together, building chemistry.....if they're still decisively losing the possession game 10 games into the season, then maybe you start to worry.......it's way too early to start right now.

puempel has looked great every game he's played in the rookie tourney and preseason....he has great chemsitry with lazar, and a real nose for the net.

that being said, i think there is almost no chance he makes the team, unless there is a trade/trades made that ship 2-3 of (smith, neil, condra, greening, hoffman) out of ottawa................and that's pretty unlikely.

It's pre-season hockey.........meaningless.

Each Ontario team has a whack of players that they're taking a look at, and evaluating.

And all the talk about a veteran player who seems to have put on a little weight over the summer, or which goaltender should be the starter, is just the media creating something to write/talk about.

Will likely be available at the trade deadline, as the Senators will most likely not be in a playoff spot at that time.

I don't believe MLSE is in panic mode but last night was a really tough outing. We know the Leafs were crucified in terms of puck possession last year. The season end collapse was simply an affirmation of their failing in that regard.

Puck possession is dependent on your center playing a solid defensive game. We know that Carlyle does not have much confidence in Kadri. Last night Kadri was on the ice for all 3 Ottawa goals. But, he also scored a highlight reel goal. So the fans and media are talking about the pretty goal. But, you know Carlyle is saying you cannot win playing this kind of hockey.

So, does MLSE fire Carlyle now? Or, do they wait another month or so and bring in another coach to try and teach Kadri how an NHL center is supposed to play the game?

his physical play used to make up for his lack of actual talent...........now he doesn't have the physical game he used to, doens't contribute much of anything offensively, is a pylon in his own zone, and takes a poopload of dumb penalties.

quite frankly, i'll take greeening six days a week and twice on sundays before neil. neil and phillips, imo, are the two most useless on-ice players on this roster.

Outside of the bad giveaway on the last goal kadri was perfectly fine defensively. Made lots of nice defensive reads and plays.

Really like Buddy Robinson. If Neil can be moved I would be really happy to see this kid get some 4th line minutes. He has the size 6'5" and 235 and is a really good skater with okay hands.

I did hear something yesterday that was from somebody who is close to the Sens contract and player decisions.

Apparently the Sens are considering a move that would send both Bobby Ryan and Marc Methot to the the LA Kings. Have no idea who would be coming back. Apparently Rob Blake is a huge Methot fan and strongly pushing for the Kings to get Methot.

in an ideal world (where our owner wasn't a broke bum), i'd waive greening and gryba, send their asses down.

package smith and neil for a prospect/pick/young player (not all 3, but whatever the best package we could is)

i'd trade methot (he's not worth 5 mil a year), the return would probably be pretty decent........either now, or at the deadline, who knows.

i'd put lazar, puempel, claessen on the NHL roster

mac - turris - ryan
michalek - zibby - chiasson
puempel - lazar - stone
hoffman - legwand - condra

pageau/grant/etc

karlsson - claessen
cowen - weircioch
phillips - ceci
