TL needs to be able to put the proper person in place.
if he thinks Nonis and his crew know what they are doing.. we are doomed

Playoffs or no playoffs they make huge money, its Toronto,s both blessing and curse.Has been for my 25 years of watching. They have become the nhl,s first huge faceless corp team. They can buy anything they want, players, front office tallent.Yet they always seem to get the wrong guy ,sign the wrong player and almost always leave their fans wanting more. They know exactly what they are doing my friend

The team can still develop their youngsters, even with signing Clarkson .

Leivo's coming along pretty nicely, and looked good in limited time with the Leafs.

This is what i mean ,in two years time do you think he will be ready to slot in beside kadri??Because right now you are paying a guy like clarkson 5.2 mil a season for the next 7 years to be that guy

I disagree with all 3 of your points.

Mac was fine for 3 mil or whatever..good possession player. Randy ran him out

Clarkson is not skilled enough to play top 6.. he is a 3rd line grinder will never score 15 goals again.

Bolland is over rated 100%. I see why chicago let him go after scoring the cup winning goal. Sell high he is not that good. Grabovski is a better player 100%

- senstroll

Mac's last two seasons, I've never seen a player kill so many offensive chances. I'd be ok being one man down instead of putting him on the ice the way he played even before Carlyle got here. He was good his first season, but just got dragged around by Grabo and Kadri after that.

Clarkson had his worst season of his career this year. Saying he'll never score even 15 again is short-sighted.

If I'm building a team from scratch, I pick Grabo over Bolland every time(healthy grabo, anyways, not Crohn's disease Grabo). But if I need a shut-down center, I take Bolland over him 10 times out of 10.

Clarkson killed more chances just by falling down for no reason
he was in the perfect system for his game in NJ.. he wont get that in Toronto.

Grabo was the 3rd line shutdown guy last season is did better than Bolland.
bolland sucks at face offs, his "D" is average at best. he has a rep from being on a stacked Chi team. he is not a good possession player either, on chi he was far below everyone on the team..on a great possession team

The leafs record prior to the Olympic break was .583 P% (60 games)

The leafs record since the Olympic break is .350 P% (20 games)

I wonder if the leafs would have been able to maintain, or stay close to their P% pace after 60 games, if there had not been an NHL shutdown for the Olympics???

(Ottawa prior to Shutdown .534, after .474, for comparison.)

Bolland at 3.5 for 2 years I can handle ..but 4+ over 5, 6 or 7 is idiodic
for an injured over hyped 3rd liner

Maybe its the fact that the Sens and Leafs (frank)ing kinda suck that has more of a input of their place on the standings and not the fact that the league shutdown for 2 weeks a few months ago.

i am talking about his time with Chi

I was sold a story line that Bolland is a leader and the type of player that would not let the game 7 meltdown happen.

he shouldnt have even been playing now

Thomas Drance ‏@ThomasDrance
Basically since Bolland's return the Leafs have been outscored 1-7 when he's on the ice at evens, outshot 28 to 53, out attempted 66 to 100.

Bolland was cleared to play..but still continued to sit out after since he didnt feel 100% .. Carlyle threw out several snide comments about him not playing.. that it was up to him blah. he doesnt know why hes not playing. His old school bs attitude should be fired and forgotten.

You don't come back from that injury and play at 100%. That's not the way it works. People expecting that he'd come back and lead the Leafs to the 2nd round were idiots.

true.

But those who liked the idea of a 3rd line center who wasn't suffering from a chronic disease and who actually knew how to play defense weren't.

Bolland wasn't the problem. The lack of depth at center is a problem. Losing Bolland and Bozak early in the season, and Kadri for a few games, didn't help.

When the one NHL center on your team is McClement... there's a problem.

So, your theory is that the Olympics weakened Toronto.

But after the Olympics, the Leafs rose to 3rd in the East... and were their until their starter got injured.

Seeing as neither Bernier nor Reimer played in the olympics, and the most drastic change in the Leafs during the collapse was the quality of goaltending... what's your explanation here?

Was Bernier injured when the Leafs hit a rough patch in november/december?

No, they were trying out JVR as #1 center because everyone else was injured/suspended during one of the toughest stretches of games they had all season.

Now you say "Injuries aren't an excuse"

Then I point out that I wasn't using them as an excuse, and that I've said the Leafs lack depth all season.

Then you comment on something somebody else said.
