I forgot about Clifford being out.

Make sure to watch the clip (above) with God Miller from Leaf lunch. He does the best job of explaining what you hear more and more insiders saying about the style that the Sens are playing. Remember last year in the final month of the season when insiders were saying that the Sens were dark horse contenders to go deep into the playoffs. Those same commentators are saying the Sens are a very strong team this year and (as Miller did on Leaf lunch) they are cautioning (especially the Leaf media) about underestimating just how good the Sens will be by the end of the year.

Miller's point is the Leafs did not have a bad night Saturday night. They were beaten by a better team and the Leafs are going to need to improve as a team if they are going to beat the Sens. What is fascinating is that it is exactly the same thing that Babcock appeared to be saying after the game.

Sens riding high after beating a better team on Saturday. Always a confidence booster.

Leafs took a weaker team on Saturday night too lightly; thought it was going to be an easy night. The Leafs upped their game against a kings team that is better than the team they played on Saturday night and proved once again they can hold on to end of game leads.

Sens likely to get a reality check tonight.

I understand that the smarter you(specifically you, not the generic "you) try to sound, the dumber you come off.

I really don't mean to pick on you. Somehow your choice of words end up being upside down from your intended meaning. Dumb, for example, has something to do with being speechless...not able to express. Is that what you wanted to say?

Interesting to see how the Kings decided to try playing a different style of game. The description of what they are trying to do reads a lot like the game plan put in by the Senators. It is actually a pretty good measure for the Leafs that they played the Kings a lot better. Babcock will be pleased with the improvement.

Watched replay of Leafs/Sens game last night. I had not seen it before. Saturday night I was only able to listen to the radio broadcast.

You watch differently when you already know the outcome.

For the first two periods, Leaf forwards played a strong defensive game. Remember, Sens only scored goals 2 and 3 in the last few minutes of the 2nd period.

In the 3rd period the Leaf forwards came out in full offensive mode and were highly effective. But they gave up wave after wave of scoring chances to the Sens on the counter attack.

Do the Leafs put together a huge package in order to trade for a #1 D? If the Canadiens go into rebuild mode, do the Leafs pursue a deal for Shea Weber?

- spatso

Just stop.

We hear all summer about how the Leafs will have cap and Age problems and now you think they should trade for Weber.

The plan is to continue to build and go as far as they can. They have done NOTHING so far to mortgage the future of the team. They had a few forwards who could have started, and at least one more rookie on D, probably 2, but they are rebuilding. This is year 2.

Media speculation that the Leafs are all-in is just as dumb as all the other hype and rhetoric from the Leafs media.

2 middle of the corsi pack teams won the cup. And one other team that didn't finish in the top-2, as well.

Clearly having possession of the puck isn't important in hockey!

More clearly, Corsi is NOT possession.

Classic denial.

Andersen has actually played pretty good. He made some great saves Saturday night to keep the Leafs in the game. The Leafs gave up 17 high quality scoring chances (Babcock's number). All the possession numbers GAA and other data pales in comparison to the importance of the number of high quality scoring chances the team D gives up. Babcock called a team issue. It is more than the defensive players.

The idea that there are 7 teams worse than the Leafs is not a hopeful number.

- spatso

I guess you and D'oops need to search for other teams injuries, or ignore certain stats, like goals-for and goaltending to keep your delusions intact.

Dumb is also used to describe a lack of intelligence. Which, seeing as I need to explain this to you, is an excellent way to describe you.

Corsi uses shot attempts as a proxy for possession. Teams that have the puck tend to shoot it.

Ridiculous. The Leafs were atrocious on Saturday and the Sens played to the best of their abilities. Executing their boring and awful game plan to perfection.

The Leafs had a good stretch of about 10 minutes in the 3rd period. That's it. And even in that stretch they had some insanely bad turnovers that dug them further into a hole.

I have a feeling that it will be a rougher game tonight. The clutching and grabbing trap methods will result in some rougher play - and the Sens will lose to a bigger, superior opponent. In additon, LA will certainly be mad about their first regulation loss this season.

Humility and self-deprication are the signs of a good coach. He got outcoached by Boucher for certain. Where interfernce, clutching and grabbing and trapping ruled and the fastest team in the league stopped moving their feet. Boucher is an excellent coach. - so is Babcock - next time these teams meet Dopps - you will not be happy.

Because some wins are worth more than others, because of the stupid points system, including points for losing a game.......... the way the NHL ranks the teams, on their record, is Points Percentage.

therefore

leafs .778
Senators .688

Sens won 3 of 4 meetings last year, if my memory is correct .... and couple of meaningless preseason games too ............. so the leafs are due for a win vs the Sens at some point.

Head to head the Sens are 1 and 0 vs the leafs ........... therefore Sens are the better team in Ontario.
