Adding to the above comment ^

Last season was a strange one in regards to these stats.
Also worth noting, that the separation between CF% from the teams 1-5 or 5th to 15th ranked teams is so slim.

the margins have been shrinking over the last few seasons

here are the cup finalists CF% Rank going back to 2010

2017 #5 vs #16
2016 #2 vs #9
2015 #2 vs #4
2014 #1 vs #8
2013 #3 vs #4
2012 #2 vs #13
2011 #5 vs #14
2010 #1 vs #14

I bolded the winners

I think its important to be a top corsi team, it at least gets you closer to the cup than the bottom does.

was a good win for the sens.

the bigger win may actually have come through injuries.

the ryan injury actually makes you guys a better team.

- Tumbleweed

So True, and if Melnyk actually had money, he could pay him to stay injured, but it doesn't matter. Sens have lots of cap space, always will

2 middle of the corsi pack teams won the cup. And one other team that didn't finish in the top-2, as well.

Clearly having possession of the puck isn't important in hockey!

How about at the end of the season, they just award the Cup to the team with the highest corsi rating, and just forget about the playoffs?

How about you stop pretending the Sens are in a good position, let alone in a better one than the Leafs?

Watching the Leafs tonight, it’s pretty clear they just took a weak team for granted on Saturday.

Handed a much better team than the Sens their first regulation lost.

More important than the win, Marner looked like his old self. All over the puck, driving play.

No need to make it more than it is. by always stressing the superlative you discount the importance of doing the basics. I thought Leafs played well. But it was a tough game.

Not going to see tomorrow's game as well. Taking Mrs. Spatso to Phantom.

Bruh. Leafs just out-defended the team with the best dman in the league.

They learned a valuable lesson Saturday, and worked hard tonight. Can’t take a team for granted, no matter how bad they are.

They didn't take them for granted. They got worked. It's a long season and it's a young team. They will still have games like that.

They are still in a better position then the Sens, IMO tho.

Yea, I don’t doubt they’ll take some other bad teams for granted and get outworked. As you said, they’re a young team.

This is pretty good. Gord Miller on Leaf lunch yesterday explains what Mike Babcock was talking about when he said the Leafs were out worked Saturday night. Clearly the Leafs did it the right way last night against the Kings.

Miller explains why many fans and commentators are underwater when it comes to understanding the Sens attack game.

Interesting to see how the Kings decided to try playing a different style of game. The description of what they are trying to do reads a lot like the game plan put in by the Senators. It is actually a pretty good measure for the Leafs that they played the Kings a lot better. Babcock will be pleased with the improvement.

How about we all wait and see who makes the playoffs, and if both Ontario teams manage to do that, then let's see who goes deeper this season.

Don't forget that the Kings are without Jeff Carter in addition to Kyle Clifford & Jonny Brodzinski ............ so the leafs took full advantage to the Kings depleted lineup, and now the Sens have to do the same.

I forgot about Clifford being out.

Make sure to watch the clip (above) with God Miller from Leaf lunch. He does the best job of explaining what you hear more and more insiders saying about the style that the Sens are playing. Remember last year in the final month of the season when insiders were saying that the Sens were dark horse contenders to go deep into the playoffs. Those same commentators are saying the Sens are a very strong team this year and (as Miller did on Leaf lunch) they are cautioning (especially the Leaf media) about underestimating just how good the Sens will be by the end of the year.

Miller's point is the Leafs did not have a bad night Saturday night. They were beaten by a better team and the Leafs are going to need to improve as a team if they are going to beat the Sens. What is fascinating is that it is exactly the same thing that Babcock appeared to be saying after the game.

I believe you are correct in understanding your own pattern as being a search for a contextual hermeneutic. Not sure you understand context in the way you believe that context is actually understood.
