Sens rookie update:

Browm – 1 game played. 2 dozen doughnuts, 17 hot dogs and 12 diet cokes eaten in the pressbox

Shabot – averaged a dismal typical bottom pairing dman’s 13 minutes a game in the nhl. Sent back down to the ahl to work on his -4 rating there. much more was expected from the best player still not playing in the nhl.

Wihte – just checked. Yup, still injured.

Formington – after a miserable 5 minutes in the nhl, sent back to the juniors where he belonged in the 1st place.

Yaros - 2 games, 8 minutes average. I guess it could be worse…

Harper – 1 game, 5 minutes. Just complete poop

Sens rookies not taking advantage of opportunities handed to them. Serious cause for concern for the 2nd oldest team in the league. overall rating: gross.

to be fair...

This one was not difficult to predict. The let down was no big surprise.

As expected. On the ice for more goals against than he was for goals for.

Out of position for both he was on the ice for. Above the circle for the 1st and behind the Vancouver goal line ( ) for the second.

His play was incredible. 2x he skated down and split the D.

But, as well as Karlsson played, it appeared that the rest of the team let up.

Looked a few steps behind for most of the game ......... a couple of rushes, a blast off the post .......... will need 10 to twelve games to get up to speed.

The Wining Percentage for all teams, in their first game after a long road trip is not to good........ so yeah, this was the typical so called "Trap game" ... and the Canucks goaltender played well to boot.

In no way did the "rest of the team let up" they carried the play for the entire first period, and kept up the pressure for most of the rest of the game ......... no bounces, no luck and the Canucks goaltender played a great game.

Don't know what you where watching?

Sens out shot them 32 - 24, won more face-offs 33 -26 and out hit them 20 -18.

That's not "letting up".

I thought the rest of the team deferred to Karlsson, especially on the power play. Too much passing, not enough shooting, whacking and banging around the net.

Hummmm, the team passing to the PP QB, on the PP ........ so that's a bad thing?

You've got to watch the game as a whole, take a look at the stats, and then once you think you're fully informed, then make a comment on the game.

The game I watched showed the team playing their system well, and Karlsson playing, but not nearly up to speed with the rest of the team, except for a couple of rushes that were good, but not up to his standards............ and that's to be expected for a guy, coming off major surgery to his ankle/foot ........ not doing anything for four months, and just started skating less than a month ago ............ oh, and not training camp or exhibition games as well.

Your comment painted a picture of Karlsson carrying the game, while the rest of the Sens sat back and coasted............ and that's not what most people saw, or the stats reflect.

and when a star returns from injury there is often a let down.

Beyond that, the Sens were due. The squeaked out a SO win, had a couple loser points then went to Calgary to face a team that forgot to show up. This was obvious to anyone who watched the game. Then they faced the team playing probably the worst hockey in the NHL right now.

You know what happens when Leafs fans make this argument right...

Either they get laughed at, or they get told scoreboard matters.

I don't disagree with your argument, just remember that the next time someone else points out the same stuff.

Didnt watch the sens game, but from the stats it looks like the ice was tilted in the Sens favour, they probably should have won and got out goalied

Leafs play again tonight, it feels like one of those games where they put up a stinker.
Hope they can surprise and keep the winning going, that would say a lot imo

Every team in the league has games where they outplay their opponent, but end up on the short end of the score......... and conversely they win games where they did not "carry the play" for the bulk of the game........ if you watch all 82 games of "your team" you know this happens, and it usually balances out over the season.

True.

Sens were consistently outplayed to start the year and won when they shouldn't have.

Their record is starting to balance out.

Are you forgetting about Systemfool, who made a big deal about Ottawa's negative goal differential, last year?

He seems very quiet on this stat nowadays.

- D0PPELGANGER

its very relevant. its common sense.

to succeed in sports you have to score more than you allow. consistently.

look at the league standings every year. one team maybe two make the playoffs with a negative goal differential. its also more entertaining for fans as a bonus. early season standings are already reflecting it.
