Freud told us all expressions of implied superiority or expressions and acts demeaning of the character of some other person are, in fact, expressions of inferiority.

As a basic principle, if someone is insulting or demeaning your character, this alone tells you that your winning the battle of ideas.

Adler a student of Freud challenged the simplicity of his understanding of inferiority complex and in posing his ideas revealed to us a deeper understanding of what Freud actually meant.

"The term "inferiority complex" was coined in the 1920s by French psychologist Alfred Adler, a one-time follower of Sigmund Freud who became disenchanted with Freud's emphasis on the influence of unconscious factors as motivators in human behavior. While Adler subscribed to the notion that underlying motivations play a part in directing personality, he introduced the notion of "ego psychology" in an effort to give equal importance to the role of conscious factors in determining behavior. According to Adler, all humans experience feelings of inferiority as children and spend the rest of their lives trying to compensate for those feelings. As people replace the dependence of childhood with the independence of adulthood, the feelings of inferiority persist in varying intensity in different people."

Dude, you need to mix in some Friedrich Nietzsche.

My studies are in theology (Ottawa U and St Paul 96). Had to study Nietzsche as part of curriculum on contemporary atheism. Some great happy memories. You know you are coming to the end of your theology studies (for me it was six years) when you start cheering for the atheists.

That is pretty clever as it relates to sports. It is an act of will to have a memory of events. It is also an act of will that enables us to forget. It would explain two entirely different views on the SEns great run in the spring. Sens remember with great joy. Leaf fans have willed it from their memory.

agreed.

like sens fans talking about the last 12 years while trying to will away the 4 playoff series, where the sens lost to the leafs each time, from their memory. very cleverly relating to sports. Leaf fans remember those series with great joy.

Not as good as Leaf fan on this thread suggesting this past week that the current Leafs may be one of the best five NHL teams ever assembled. Now that is an act of willful memory.

he put that out there for you to take the bait. and you did.
