Nothing to do with media other than the Boucher quote. He is known to not like young players. So, I am delighted that he is finally beginning to acknowledge the great young assets available to him.

He loves loves loves him, sent him down and played him 6 mins. But he loves loves loves him.

Nope, not you gobbling up media spew at all. Nope. None.

While I agree that the Leafs defense is their achilles heel,

The Leafs fired FIFTY shots at Schneider and outshot the Devils 50-31. That is not superior defensive play, sorry.

yeah Gardiner was an abomination last night at both ends of the ice.

Devils scored two goals off deflections and then off the post. Meanwhile Schneider made more saves than any other game of his career.

Leafs needed a wakeup call, for sure, but 8-10 times that game goes the other way. I was kind of glad to see the loss. As long as they don't follow it up with another stinker in Montreal.

... we always suck against Montreal though.

Will agree with you on this one, I would not go as far to say that Schneider "Stole the game", but he was a major part of the Devils win.

What was with the leaf's 220 pound"tough guy" Matt Martin, running a 170 pound Swedish 18 year old rookie at the end of the game?

Goalie who saves like 50 shots, lots of good chances stole the game.... Especially when is team only shot like 30

Funny how that works, you get better goaltending and give up 50 shots but have better defensive play

Was a winnable game for the Leafs, just got outgoalied

Gardiner, Rosen and Borgy had some WTF plays just handing the puck over

Good post.

Not easy going from all out attack of 50+ shot assault to playing responsible team D. I don't think you can open up to get your 50 shots without giving up chances coming back at you.

Montreal had early season success by playing run and gun and letting Cary Price bail them out on the counter.

Babcock has been warning this was coming. It gets a lot tougher in the second half.

based on shot locations the Leafs had an expected goals of 6 to 3.5 for NJ
Schneider was very solid

Ugly bush league play. Fits Leaf image. Announcers tried to tone it down knowing Martin was looking pretty inappropriate.

I think you talk out your ass a lot of the time and make poop up.
I am guessing you didnt watch the game (or much of it) but somehow know NJ had a good defensive game.

so much noise from you and not much substance

Watched every minute.

Fun game.

Leafs desperately need a veteran Dman presence to calm things down on back end. Babcock has been warning that this can go south very quickly.

Montreal will be a desperate team. They are in deep trouble if they can't get it going.

Either Montreal plays their first good game of the season or they blown out by the Leafs. I am inclined to think it is going to be a blow out by Leafs.

Sure they do.

36 year old Hainsey who they signed is not the right veteran Dman presence to calm things down?

they need to improve thier D..age doesnt matter

When a goaltender plays well for a team, other than the leafs, the leaf fans claim it was "Fluky" of he was "Lucky" or "Overachieved" ............never Superior.

For example, Craig Anderson's save percentage has averaged .924 since he was acquired by the Senators......... but every year leaf fans like (the banned) Prock has maintained that Anderson "had a lucky/flucky or overachieved" season or playoffs, and that he'd never play that well again ........... but the stats show that (the banned) Prock was wrong.

I am just saying the veteran thing is meaningless ...the leafs could add 5 veterans on D for all the calming leaderships in the world but if they are not good at hockey it wont help

I have to admit I had it on but wasn't paying attention at that point. a Habs fan made a comment in the leafs thread about it. I just didn't see it.

IF the Leafs win, (they won't), it will be close. The only blowout would be on the Montreal side.

It would look a lot like l last night, Goalie stones the Leafs and every mistake the Leafs make ends up in their net.

Games like that happen, but you need that goalie to make it happen. Montreal has that goalie, and they are VERY due for some offensive luck.

The problem with the Sens is not that they have an older player here and there. Most teams do. The Leafs do, now.

The problem with the Sens is that their core is aging, and about to get more expensive . The elite young talent is not there yet, may never be, it remains to be seen. White and Brown are not "elite". They may be good NHL'ers. Chabot has a chance to be an elite player but it is probably too much to think that happens in the next 2 years.

Yeah, Hennrique came to the defense of the little Swedish player who was steam rolled by the leafs "tough guy" who had at least a fifty pound advantage.

It was not nessasary from my POV, but perhaps something happened earlier in the game, as I just caught the last five minutes.
