Lee sent Chabot home for the summer with some harsh words about an “average” camp from the club’s 18th overall selection at the 2015 NHL entry draft.

This is a good quote as well.....

I hope that Dermott plays tonight.

I'm not all that shocked at lilgren performance, basically came as advertised. Exceptional skating and puck skills, needs work defensively. Not all that surprising that a new draft pick from overseas didn't have lights out performance. He performed very well at the world junior showcase, one game here isn't going to determine his future.

Yes last year Lee really unloaded saying he was not playing to his full potential. He went out and was the best player in the Q and ended up being the first Dman ever to be named best player in the WJC. It is one thing to have talent. It is another to have the drive to be the best.

I think game is 4:00 this afternoon. Streamed on several sources.

I heard rumours that the new stadium might only have 15-17000 seats.

Interesting stuff.

- Feeling Glucky?

Trend is towards smaller buildings without loss of revenues. From recent article on building downsizing.

"WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

First and foremost, reducing the number of seats in an arena does not necessarily correlate to a reduction in the popularity of a team or sport. It is more directly related to a shift in generational and cultural values and the public’s desire to attend traditional live events – A shift from the traditional “sitting in a seat” to a need for enhanced, variable and dynamic experiences. In short, arena sizes aren’t drastically changing, but the contents and uses inside the arena are (continuously) evolving. And this will continue."

Ddint see the game. Wont see ths game against the Habs tomorrow either. Taking the boy to Wonderland. How bad was St.Timothy?

I remember last rookie tournament Marner didn't even get a point. or goal. i forget which.

Leafs will mold thr boy if hes willing to work hard enough.

One of the goals Montreal scored, Liljegrin handed it right to them. It was Karlsson-esque, actually. Like this, except the Montreal player last day wristed it home. He didn't have all the time in the world to wind up and blast it like this goal Karlsson gave away-

I remember when rookie Daniel Alfredsen turned Ray Bourque inside out and went around him to score a goal. Great players get beaten. Especially great players that dominate puck possession. The fact that Sydney Crosby ranks very high in give aways does not mean he is not a good puck handler. It merely reflects the amount of time where he handles the puck and especially those cases where the play goes through him.

Absolutely great fun game. How can you not love the effort and energy put out by the kids on both teams?

The Sens rookies score 3 unanswered goals in the third period and Max Lajoie ended it in the shootout to finish the Rookie Tournament 2-0.

Still hate the shootout.

Duh...the rookie tournament for me is the official end of summer talk. You have real ice, players, pucks and a scoreboard. Winning and losing is not all that important other than giving context for the individual effort of the players.

Summer talk was the irrational speculation that Liljegren was the steal of the draft and the next Karlsson. I like the kids game. Skating is really good. But. Now we can give some context from actual performance as we head into training camp.

I enjoy the exhibition games for much the same reasons.

Great comment during the game when it was noted that players were auditioning to play in the NHL someday. Most will not make it. A few will actually play for the NHL team that drafted them. Some will break into the league with other teams that deal for them or pick them up.

That's exactly who he reminds me of. The kid has obvious offensive talent but is weak defensively.

Only question is, can he get as good as Karlsson offensively. 'Cause he's already as bad as him defensively.

I don't think he'll ever be as good offensively as Karlsson is but I do think he'll be good. So just gotta hope he can get better defensively.

Please explain what stats you're using to make the claim that Karlsson is "bad defensively" .......... and where he ranks defensively, compared to other offensive type D men in the NHL.

Thanks

Great articles on just how complete a Dman Karlsson is. Your Leaf jealousy is on display this morning.

Well it's been decided that summer talk is over. Pretty soon, after some direct observation we'll be able to really discuss how the new 8 year 65 million dollar contract for Shattenkirk, and signing more geezers like Jagr and Markov that make the team one of the oldest in the league are affecting the Leafs.

Lots of summer talk still going on. I knew this tournament meant alot to sens fans and they would get over excited for such a meaningless tournament, which is why i wanted them to win all along.

usual summer talk burnsie.

last summer spatso didn't even mention the rookie tournament in this thread. this year hes all over it. summer talk. what he did do though is pull a suck over the world championships because Matthews was getting too much attention.

this year the scoreboard starts with the rookie tournament. last summer scoreboard started with preseason. funny how it all works out. silly summer spatso talk.

What I really want to know is why are are all the stupid Laffs boosters at the totally biased Toronto Sports Network (maker of the best summer talk prospect lists mind you) talking about this Doughty quote over the weekend with regards to the Leafs? They're going to look pretty silly when they finally realize that the Leafs already have their top RHD signed to that 8 year 65 million dollar contract. I mean they're the ones who reported those exact figures after all. I'm sure a quick google search should turn up several non Toronto Sports Network links to corroborate this.
