Interesting.

Especially with the youth the Leafs already have in the lineup

what is happening in the Maple Leafs organization is truly remarkable. sometimes greatness appears out of nowhere. sometimes you can see it unfolding. in this case even the worst critics can't deny that we are watching greatness unfold before us with the Toronto Maple Leafs. it is getting to the point that I'm no longer going to say they are building a contender. that is a given now. their sights appear to be higher. their sights are on building a dynasty.

Torn: not sure if the bad money DAL is spending on Radulov is worse than the bad money TOR is spending on Marleau. Years to ponder.

Marleau??? very interesting signing.

Marleau is an amazing player. has been one the most underrated in the league over the years imo.

if the leafs are just signing him to boost their offense then I'm not a fan of the move. he's 38 years old.

however, if this opens the door to trading bozak and/or JVR for even more picks and prospects then it's brilliant.

- prock

They either run with the deadliest offense in the division- likely top3 in the league... or they trade JVR for improved D, and are still a top-5 offensive threat.

Either option is good IMO. Marleau's old, but he doesn't have much wear and tear, and is still speedy, and can score. Having him on a line with Matthews and Nylander will be terrifying for our opponents.

They're absolutely loaded with talent.

Imagine when Dermott and Lillybust join the team.

Phaneuf will be a Sen the whole time. Not sure why he isn't in this discussion. Phaneuf will still be a Sen and Radulov a Star even after Marleaus contract expires.

That is absolutely priceless. Leaf fan posting about Leaf player Phaneuf being most over rated player in NHL. So, Phaneuf gets traded to the Sens and plays behind Karlsson and has very good year and a fabulous playoff. The problem with Phaneuf in Toronto was the hype. Media wanted him to be something he was not. In Ottawa he has been an outstanding player because nobody expects him to be better than Karlsson.

Phaneuf has done a great job mentoring Ceci. Now he will get a chance to help bring Chabot, Harpur and Jaros into full time roles.

And more than 6 years younger than Marleau. Priceless!

Dion is worn out and sucks. Marleau scored 27 last year and is a much needed veteran presence.

That was easy.

- Feeling Glucky?

Funny, you completely avoided the contract issue.

Marleau is over 35 years old, so his contract in one hundred percent guaranteed, and his $6.35 Million cap hit can't be removed from the "books" for the three seasons, even if he retired tomorrow ......... his cap hit does not go away.

His cap hit is going to be problem when Wee Willy Nylander becomes a RFA a year from now, and when Mini Mitch Marner does in 2 years .............. oh and that Mathews guy becomes a RFA in 2 years from now.

Don't you think Marleau's Cap Hit of 6.25 severely handcuffs the leafs when they have to negotiate all these contracts?? .............. It's the EXACT same thing you've been saying for over a year now about Dion's contract............. you cannot deny that.... and it's the EXACT same scenario. His contract includes a complete no movement clause, from what I've heard as well.

So with the binding nature of the Marleau 6.25 cap hit ........... there is also another problem ............. besides try to fit all these young players under the Cap in the next two years................ there is NO money left to bring in help in the leafs most glareing hole on their team ........... the defence.

Don't tell me Hainsey is the answer.........he's not.

I completely understand why you'll avoid this issue, as you will be arguing in the opposite direction that you've been doing for over year, when you've been trying to convince us that Dion's contract is so bad, for the EXACT same reasons Marleau's is ............. in fact it's worse in some ways, because Dion is 6 years younger, and could be bought out, while Marleau cannot .............. his cap hit is engraved in stone, and is one the books for three years, no matter what.

Leafs cap is fine. They have robidas and lupul off after this year, they get relief from buyouts after 2years.

Marleau contract is easily trade able in the third year, to a team looking to not pay actual salary but have the cap hit.

They have one of the best capologist in the business working for them.

They're fine.

You're so rattled that your team is doing (frank) all

Leafs have tons of salary coming off the books, and a budget team next door that will love to take a high-cap, low salary player, if they need to move him.

Contract doesn't handicap the Leafs at all, and instantly improves the team. Life is good in Leaf land.

Sens already have 19 players signed for next year, they have two RFA's to sign (Pageau and Dzingle). Colin White is included on the roster but Chabot and Harpur are not.

Sens have full roster of team that went ECF. They are very happy about their set up going into next year.

I still am expecting one more trade for a top six forward.

You know when the Leafs win a cup and Ottawa is still sitting at 0, he'll be first in line for the parade, pretending he was a fan all along, try desperately to convince himself it's true.

Such irony Sens take Stanley cup winners to ECF final and double overtime. They will add high level prospects for next year. The Sens will be very strong next season.

I told you this last year and you embarrassed yourself by not believing me.

So, get ready.
