your team is losing (and your rivals are winning).....I guess it's justified that you guys are as rattled as you are
- sensarmy_11

I am wondering at the start of the Season.. did you expect the Leafs to be fighting for a playoff spot in March?

even my friendly words has you guys rattled.

stop being spatsos.

Score effect or not, getting outshot 17-2 in the 3rd period by a bad team
does not inspire confidence heading into playoffs.

This Leaf fan is still hoping for a winning streak and a 1st round match up
versus the Sens.

Because they're not a great team yet. As a Leafs fan, I'm thrilled at the quick progress, but competing for a playoff spot was a very unlikely best-case scenario for this year.

I guess this outline the difference between Leafs and Sens fans this year. We have realistic expectations for our team, and are happy to see them exceeding them, with a bright future, while you guys are clearly very insecure, knowing that your team is in win now mode, without any real shot of actually winning. Hence pumping up prospects that aren't even on your team to make yourselves feel better.

Like I said, I'll be concerned about the Sens when they get proper ownership, management, and commit to a much-needed rebuild.

- Feeling Glucky?

Sens fans are so blinded with their insecurities they think that talking about the Leafs doesn't qualify as talking about the Leafs.

Interesting.

Being out shot, is not the be all and end all, on NHL game outcomes. Being out scored is though.

Team defense is what the new coaching staff brought in this season, and it took a couple of months to get it up and running, and maybe another month and a half to get it to be "second nature" to the players.

You sound like every fan who's defended their team's awful corsi, which predicts a regression. That includes me, btw.

Who knows though. Maybe you will be the first team to prove the trend wrong!

Dopps, I didn't feel like quoting the whole thing.

1) When you're selling what little future your team has for veterans, that's a sign you're in a win-now mode. Now, I know you're going to come back with the Leafs paying a 2nd for Boyle, but that hardly stacks up to trading a guy like Zibanejad and a 2nd for a 3rd liner in Brassard.

2) I've always noted that Button is an idiot. Nothing to do with him posting something positive about the Sens.

3) I'm not ignoring their record. I'm explaining it. The underlying stats show they're prone for regression.

4) I don't think I've called Dahlen a top prospect, correct me if I'm wrong, but I do know that plenty of sens fans on other boards were very upset with the deal, pointing out his near-historic point totals in europe. Numbers fairly similar to Nylander's... the 19 year old rookie who would be 3rd in points on your team.

I know your first instinct will be to lash out. This is caused by cognitive dissonance. It's what happens when you hold two conflicting beliefs. One part of you knows that what I'm typing is true, the other part is so hopeful that the Sens aren't basically a poor man's version of the 2014/2015 Nucks - a veteran team that seemingly bounced back from a bad year, under a new coach, with a near bottom-of-the-league corsi, only to regress the next season. You're holding out hope that maybe, just maybe, your team will be the exception, and continue to be a playoff hopeful for years to come, despite these poor underlying stats... and that maybe, just maybe they'll find a way to improve themselves, despite lacking players worth trading for, or the financial wherewithal to acquire the talent they need, that's lacking throughout their system...

But honestly, you'll feel a lot better if you just embrace the truth.

Your #1 goalie is in his turning 36 this season.
Your franchise player is in his prime now.
You only have 1 forward worth a damn who's 25 or under.

These aren't scary numbers when your team's competing for the cup. But as discussed, Ottawa ain't the Hawks.

Unlike some of the Sens supporters here, I have thought this was going to be a great year for the Sens right from the beginning. I believe the Sens can take out Washington, Rangers and Columbus. They own Boston. Montreal/Ottawa is a cliffhanger. Pittsburgh is not a good match up for the Sens.

Right now the Sens are playing great hockey. Burrows and Stalberg have both turned out to be gems. Last night against Dallas the Sens maintained control right from the opening face off. The Stars gave up to quick goals and never really put up much of a fight.

Love it. Most of the Leaf fans have abandoned the thread. A few stringers hang on trying to convince themselves that the tooth ferry is going to lace on the blades and help drag the Leafs into the playoffs.

So busy trying to find flaws in the Sens they don't have to ask themselves who is responsible for blowing up Morgan Reilly's career. His game has totally gone, his self confidence is eroded and he has no support. Not good!

The revenue generated from 1-2 playoff rounds is the Cup as far as Ottawa is concerned. It's just a shame that extra money won't be put back into the team since the owner is cheap. Did anyone mention how cheap he is? Someone should consider mentioning that.

the 2009 Penguins were a 48.07% Corsi team and won the cup. I think they were the lowest

The Sens are 48% right now.... so expect a Cup for them

Ottawa has scored 1 goal in 2 games vs Holtby and the Caps. Yes, I would take Ottawa in a 7 game series for sure.

Not sure Stockholm Syndrome has a realistic application on this thread. On the other hand, I think the Karpman Triangle depicting a model of the evolutionary roles of Victim, Abuser and Rescuer might have some possible meaning for this discussion.

The losing game Ottawa played against Washington might have been there best game of the year. They outplayed the Caps but Holtby was phenomenal.

I long ago said the Leafs have had a good year. I have always believed in the Shanaplan, even before it existed. Morgan Reilly does suck, his game has regressed. Lou threw Reilly under the bus the day he traded Phaneuf.

He Doesnt suck, you are just being a (frank)ing tool

The leafs had to move Dion no matter if it meant a small step back.. he contract is not one you want on your team if you are building a contender

Would you rather have Phaneuf or Matthews? The Dion trade helped them tank. Personally I'd rather have Dion because I am completely stupid.
