New goalie, can't spell his name, will stumble in his debut. Leafs will score 3 times. Give up 5.

I expect a fast paced game. Leaf young players will need to be at there best to find opportunities offensively with Phaneuf and Karlsson shutting things down.

I think the Leafs will come out flat after last night's emotional game (RIP). I think the adrenaline after playing their first game in a week will sap their legs tonight. 4-1 Sens with mostly PP goals

You think so.

I think both teams are going to come out highly pumped and we are going to see a wild game (like 6-5). Both are well rested in terms of coming off seasonal breaks. And, playing the day before does not have a huge impact on young legs. Older guys feel it in their bones but the young guys snap back real quick.

I think it will be a barn burner and we all have to keep in mind that no Canadian team made the playoffs last year. Despite any disagreements around team loyalties, this is a great time to be a hockey fan.

The point is that it didn't make sense to play the new guy Friday. So far what the Leafs decided to do is working. Either way torobto is more about the process than individual games. Toronto also can easily catch Philly and Boston with their games in hand. So tonight's game isn't as make or break as you may think. A loss last night rushing the new guy doesn't do the team any good just to bulk up against a weaker team the next night.

Well the point of the debate was also taking into consideration the number of times teams plays b2b games, and their tendency to split them, rather than sweep them, and I guess it depends on which Win (assuming the two games would be split) will prove to be more important in the long run ( divisional tie breaking formula) to the leafs.

They also thought the number of rookies in the leaf lineup could be a little more distracted from their "game" in NY, with it being the first visit for them to MSG........... but they won the game, so that point is no longer moot in hindsight.

As I pointed out in post a couple of days ago .......... the Senators, mostly last season, and couple of times this season, have had a bad tendency to win a "big game" vs a team like the Penguins, and then crap the bed in their next game vs a team below them in the standings ............ so, as I said a couple of days ago, this will be a good test for the Senators to see if they've learned their lesson and take the leafs seriously tonight and not fall back on old habits.

At a minimum, half, 50%, of the fans tonight in Ottawa will be leaf fans, and the HNIC broadcast crew will be pumping up the leafs, and there will be a few token mentions of a few Sens at most, but it will seem just like a homer local market broadcast .................... as always, as CBC knows which is the (much) bigger fan-base and it just makes business sense to cater to it.............. Sens fans won't like it, but it is what it is, and will not change in anyone's lifetime.

It's not that you're right or wrong. It's just that the conversation is boring now. I really don't care which day which goalie starts. Hard not to notice the capped CBC. No idea why or how the conversation went that way and why you're telling me about it.

You guys all realize that if/when the leafs become contenders the amount of smugness and trolling we'll see from leafs fans will probably cause the internet to implode right? All the years of having to read stupid poop from other fans won't go unpunished. Quite the opposite. Leafs fans are going to be unbearable. More than usual I mean. Way more.

God help you all if they win a cup in our lifetime. I promise to troll myself into a permanent ban if that ever happens.

how do you figure? lazar's stats in the WHL are significantly better than nylander's stats in Tier 2 SHL (which is where he played a majority of his time)...and in his 22 games in the actual tier 1 league, he had 7 pts.

he'll be a good player, but he hasn't shown any more potential than lazar.

Yeha but at least the Sens didn't take Matthews over Laine. Could you imagine that? They'd actually have an elite forward if they did that.
