You don't think many forwards being injured might have affected their output offensively?

Leafs top-6: Kessel had .45 gpg, JVR had .38, Bozak had .33, Lupul .32, Kadri .26, Raymond, .23....

Now, I don't know exactly who was in Ottawa's top-6... but your best goals/game guy comes in tied for 3rd with the Leafs.

Sounds to me like the Leafs' top-6 might be a tad bit better offensively.

yeah, i forgot that all of ottawa's forwards played every game the entire season

there you go using injuries as a crutch again.

your team sucks worse than ours......accept it and move on.

Both teams suck pretty bad.

Can't wait for next season

I'm always confused about the shortened season. Seems like, in this thread anyways, what happened in the shortened season is indicative of what should happen over a full season when it relates to the Sens, but means nothing when it has to do with the Leafs.
- Feeling Glucky?

you should be loving that half season, it's the only one in the last 10 that your team has finished ahead of ottawa.

when talking about how many goals a guy scores, you don't think games played counts for anything?

Is it obvious to everyone here that there are also some sens fans that are pure haters of everything Leafs, and Leafs related?

you could say that about every fan base.

i think the big difference is that the leaf fans go out of their way to troll the sens.......while most of the sens fans (myself included) will usually only spout off after we've been provoked

Let's settle this, then.

If the Sens goaltending was great because it was a shortened season, does it mean the Leafs made the playoffs because it was a shortened season also?

Dopps has been trying to provoke all year with his garbage. Spasto stayed in hiding until the losing streak, but you know he was licking his lips all year long hoping for a chance to troll the Leafs.

well, when you have a player like lupul, who's guaranteed to miss 30-40% of the teams games every year.....then his goal totals are what they are.

i'll take the guy who can score 25-30 and stay healthy, over the guy who can score 20-22, and is hurt all the time.

as for our team....ryan missed a crap ton of time, and we only had hemsky for 20 games (where he was playing at a PPG pace)

so that's a lot of man games that we didn't get from our forwards either.

it's possible.

But it's also almost a certainty that the Leafs would have been a playoff team this season, had Bernier not gone down, whereas Ottawa's goaltending has been poor year-round.

Bernier lost 50% of the games he played this season.

The Leafs lost while he was in net, rather. I think he played well for the most part. Just couldn't plug all of the holes.

The Leafs have many, many holes.

Ryan missed 12 games. That's not that much. The ~60 games Bolland missed... that's a lot.

You said Ottawa's top-6 was better offensively than the Leafs' top-6. Mind you, I assumed you were talking about goals, not points, when you said scoring... so I posted the numbers that showed you were wrong.... the story doesn't change too much when talking about points per game either.

If he continued to pick up the majority of points in his starts, as he did for the rest of the season, the Leafs would have been in the playoffs.

So, yea... looking pretty likely that without him getting hurt, they make it, and you guys lose that bit of troll bait.

when you say it about every fan base, you see how irrelevant it is to bring up in the first place.

I disagree with the second part, based on the Dopps/Spats participation in these sorts of threads.

You'll see Dopps dig up this post in 8 months time with some irrelevant news about Bozak scoring at a lower pace than this year, and the blue link on your sidebar will be starting at you, screaming the unmistakeable truth that he's merely Prock (or worse) that wears different colours.

bolland

and i said ottawa scored more goals as a team.

YOU said your top six was "great" and ottawa's top six was "bad"..............which is just idiotic.

i think kessel and jvr are great........and beyond that, your top six is average at best, and probably not even that.

When a goalie goes 25-16-7 before his injury(which means 57 points in 48 games)... citing a 50% win record, including the games he had to rush back from injury for, is a clear attempt to cherry pick stats.

Pretty classic troll move. One Dopps is also pretty good at.

In reality, going into the stretch after his injury, the Leafs were at a .594 point clip in games he started.

If that continued, there would have been virtually no way for the Leafs to miss the playoffs.

But you guys can continue pretending that a starting goalie getting injured in the most important time of the season has no effect on the team's record.

i didn't even know this thread existed until about 2 weeks ago, so i can't speak to what was said before (and i sure as poop won't go back and read 130 pages).....so i'm speaking more to the general threads on the blogs.

you don't see NEARLY as many sens fans going into the leaf blogs and starting poop as you see leaf fans going into sens blogs and starting poop.

i'm not saying it doesn't happen, but the ratio is HEAVILY tilted towards one side.

and you mentione spats and dopps, but for those 2, there are probably 30 leaf fans who are as bad, or SIGNIFICANTLY worse.

sounds good, and you continue to pretend that your team is good and that bernier is the main reason you aren't in the playoffs

most leaf fans are smart enough to figure it out......................hopefully one day they'll explain it to you.

at least i can admit that my team has holes, and problems that need to be fixed. nothing sadder than a sports fan who refuses to acknowledge when his team isn't good............probably a big part of the reason why your team has been so bad, for so long......too many fans like you willing to accept mediocrity.

Ottawa's top-6 is bad... Toronto's is pretty damned good. Stats show that.

I was talking top-6, you said Ottawa scored more. That's probably where the misunderstanding started.

Ottawa may have scored more as a team because for the majority of the season, Toronto didn't get much offense from it's defensemen... since Carlyle wasn't exactly using our offensive guys in a position where they'd succeed(see- Phaneuf getting only 33% of his zone starts in the offensive zone)

But our forwards are a much better group... and Bolland, who I didn't mention earlier when talking about gpg, because of the short sample size, was putting in goals at a .33 gpg clip(tied with Ryan ). Not bad for a guy who was supposed to be our top defensive forward.... while his injury didn't exactly doom the Leafs' season, having him for more than 20 odd games would have been nice.

I was pretty clear that the Leafs have lots of holes

But Bernier was covering them up, which is why his injury hurt the team so badly.
