yeah and i think you're right, i don't see it anymore.

i used to sit up at night on the ford site building my mustang and trying to figure out when (if?) i'm going to be able to afford to do it.

knocking wood (in my pants) but the sportage has been great to me. it's 8 years old now and i've never had anything break on it. i bought it for the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and then i never got a chance to use it anyway.

i do like shifting myself and wish it had the paddles instead of the thing where you move the shift lever over but that's really my only complaint. but eventually i'm gonna need it to piss me off so that i can start making my move.

may it gracefully die exactly when it's the correct time to get the mustang

also, i have an aunt who has the highlander hybrid and it's awesome.

although they just changed the body style after she bought it and i am not a fan of the swoopy new look.

Yeah I prefer the older style also.

I have a 10 year old Altima that has given me no problems. It has assorted scratches and dings so that I don't care when I get a new one.

It is very liberating to only worry that the car is road-worthy and running well and not worry about door dings ... and not make payments. Instead of payments, I started 5 years ago to put away 500 a month in the next car fund.

I almost wish the Altima would die so I would have to buy a new car

I would have loved a tacoma but the back seat is small for my children. My older daughter is 11 but she'll be pushing 6 feet soon enough. I test drove one last year, still found the back seat too tight for long drives.

I didn't buy a 4Runner for that very reason. I knew my wife would take it over.

I guess i'll have to get her another Highlander.

yeah - my kids are 7&8. another couple years and i'll have to move on.

tundra is overkill and overpriced for me, but tons of room.

not sure wtf i am going to get next.

So here is some weird psychology that happens with saving for a car...

I started this when I was 50 or so. I decided that I wanted to get something nice, like a BMW, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes, nothing outrageous but nice. If I had a big enough downpayment I could keep the payment reasonable.

Then some funny stuff happened along the way.

I started looking at an Audi last summer. I really liked it. When I worked out the payments, it was still going to be like 600/mo for 5 years AFTER a downpayment of 30K or so.

Reality #1 ... even if you save money for a car, it is still your money. Emptying that account feels no different than if you just left it in with all your other cash.

Reality #2 ... I am not about 3.5 years from retirement. I am suddenly aware of the fact that I will be on a budget. There is zero financial justification for a car like that. I also have had enough cars to know that no matter what I buy, the thrill will be gone in a couple months.

Reality #3 ... the most unexpected thing about all of this is that it gives me an actual, concrete value for my Altima. It is worth 500.00 per month to me. I could maybe sell it for 3500, but if I keep it for 7 months, I will save that much in payments.

So, now that I am up around 33-34K or something, and I am not anxious to spend my money despite going about saving it, and I don't want the same expensive car anyway LOL!

2 kids would be Highander Hybrid for me, or perhaps the best family value on the market, a Dodge Caravan, when they blow them off for 20+ K every year.

Maybe at some point, when health insurance makes travelling prohibitively expensive, I will buy a cool new car. Hell, my dad bought a fully loaded Gold Wing and the fluoro-green Mustang

The Ottawa Senators are down another senior executive: Jim Little has been dismissed as CEO because of "conduct inconsistent with the core values of the Ottawa Senators and the National Hockey League."

Little was hired on Jan. 10.

Another Ottawa uber driver fending off unwanted advances from the sens?

Or maybe he just expensed an uber and refused to repay the team?

No matter, it seems Ottawa may be going through CEOs faster than they go through team captains and/or coaches. I didn't think that was possible.

Either way, good to see this thread going back to highlighting the constant embarrassments of the senaturds.

Who's next?

It's shocking Dorion hasn't jumped ship. But I suppose he stands no chance at getting a job with another team.
