i guess i had noticed it in the song before but the idea was that the character was a redneck who was jealous of rich rockstars and that's how a redneck would express those feelings. but as years went by people just heard the word in the song and got upset, which makes sense. i guess it was a bit misguided thinking people would just chalk it up to the story the song was telling.

i guess there's just no way to convince people of anything when they're mad.

probably saying it 3 times in the song was a mistake too.

but i don't care, they don't seem like homophobes or racist or anything to me and when their songs come on i sing along.
