I think I'm in love

Tessie, where does a lass of your tender years get these wonderful songs that are lost on so many people decades older than you are?

There's a band called non-point and they do a really good verison of this song too.
- Cantloose

Just listened to it... pretty good but doesn't compare to the original version or the 2Pac version.

2Pac + Phil Collins > everyone.

My Philly bro, I was thinking the same thing myself. Hence I dedicate the next song to Tessie. (One of my favorites.)

Earth Angel
The Penguins

Earth Angel, earth angel
Will you be mine?
My darling dear, love you all the time
I'm just a fool, A fool in love with you

Earth Angel, earth angel
The one I adore
Love you forever, and evermore
I'm just a fool, A fool in love with you

I fell for you and I knew the vision of your love, loveliness
I hoped and I prayed that someday
I'll be the vision of your hap-happiness

Oh oh Earth Angel, earth angel
Please be mine
My darling dear, love you all the time
I'm just a fool, A fool in love with you

I fell for you and I knew the vision of your loveliness
I hoped and prayed that someday
That I'll be the vision of your happiness

Earth Angel, earth angel
Please be mine
My darling dear, love you all the time
I'm just a fool, A fool in love with you

Yep... And the PENGUINS part is the kicker.

That really, is an oldie but a goodie... I'm thinking that that even pre-dates the '60s; a late-Fifties' gem, me thinks.

Ok, but I'm still dedicating that one to Tess for the both of us.

Here's the replacement then:
Scene 1: Beach called the Wedge
cue the bikini clad girls and surfer dudes
start the drums..... enter the D!ck Dale guitar work.....

It's because the word d!ck is in the URL, it changes the url to richard, making it useless. You old farts wouldn't understand

Oh, I do understand, my young turk friend... It's just that we older, and wiser, guys just don't think as much in the 'now' P.C. manner in which the nickname D!ck has to be censored out of threads -- and ironically ass is not filtered out -- So we are naive in that we don't pick up on such bullcrap.

One of my favorite 'girl' groups was 'The Crystals'... I loved them from the first time I heard their first '45', *He's a Rebel*.

I couldn't find that on Blogmusik, but found their follow up, *Uptown* -- go figure -- I passed up the more popular, *Da Do Run Run*, which they also had, in favor of this slower 'Calypso' tune.

((Caviat: The Crystals were a part of Phil Spector's famous 'Wall of Sound' groups... It is widely rumored that his groups were interchangeable. It is said that he would have song recorded and then put it out under the name of the 'next' group that needed a record released... It is said that most of them Ronnie, his then wife, as the lead singer.))

UPTOWN - The Crystals

he gets up each morning and he goes downtown
where everyone's his boss and he's lost in an angry land
he's a little man

but then he comes uptown each ev'nin' to my tenement
uptown where folks don't have to pay much rent
and when he's there with me he can see that he's everything
then he's tall, he don't crawl, he's a king

downtown he's just one of a million guys
he don't get no breaks and he takes all they got to give
'cause he's got to live

but then he comes uptown where he can hold his head up high
uptown he knows that i am standing by
and when i take his hand there's no man who could put him down
the world is sweet, it's at his feet when he's uptown

whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
whoa-oh, whoa-oh, oh-yeah

let me tell ya now

uptown where he can hold his head up high
uptown he knows that i am standing by
and when i take his hand there's no man who could put him down
the world is sweet, it's at his feet, when he's uptown

whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

let me tell ya now, uptown
fade
whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

I think it's time we bust out the Floyd...

I hope you guys have 13 minutes.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd

free music

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

I realize that this is '60s week... I found this version of a 1931 written song that was made famous in 1942... I do not know when Sachmo recorded this version -- Googled my arse off trying to find out -- but I know that he did some recording in the Sixties, sooooo... with a very opened mind I'm assuming that he could have recorded in the '60s... thus I'm submitting it.

Ahh... no matter what, it's worth a listen.

As Time Goes By (A kiss is just a kiss) - Louis Armstrong

You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

To go back to cover week for a second, if any of you are Bowie fans, you must listen to Beck's version of "Diamond Dogs". It's excellent

One of the D!ck Dale tunes the youngun's might recognize is the theme from Pulp Fiction.

Tessie:

Piece of my Heart
Janis Joplin
1968

Didn't I make you feel
Like you were the only man
Yeah I did not give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can
honey you know I did
Each time I tell myself that I well I think I've had enough
What I'm gonna show you baby is that a woman can be tough

CHORUS:
I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on
And take it
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
Break it
Break another little bit of my heart now darlin' yeah
Have a
Have another little piece of my heart now baby
You know you got it if it makes you feel good, oh yes it did

You're out on the streets lookin' good
And baby deep down in your heart
I guess you know that it ain't right
Never never never never never never Hear me when I cry, cry, cry, cry
Baby I cry all the time
Each time I tell myself that I well I can't stand the pain
But when you hold me in your arms I'm singing once again

CHORUS

Guitar solo

The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight

- tessie

That tune was tortured and brutally transformed into the "doubletime" song when I was in Basic, AIT and jump school at the end of the Viet Nam era. Replace the word lion with the words "Charlie" and you should get the gist. Bad times. But I'm feeling much better now.
