Overkill > Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, most other thrash bands.

That song is from 1985, so it is before other "generic" thash songs.

The boring thrash was not very much in 1985, only a few bands around playing the style. But yes, we can move along. Dimmu suck, Overkill do not. 'Nuff said.

I find the sound boring because the accenting is very simple and the songs are constructed in really obvious ways. I also find the guitar tone a little dry and thin. Sorry, I'm not even really a metal guy...I'm more of a guitar guy. To each their own.

Ah but it's not mindless. He will play that the same each time and understands the theory behind every bit of it. All of these guys actually went to school for music and put enormous amounts of time perfecting their playing.

It's music you have to listen to more than once to get into your head and then the depth of it keeps you entertained for much longer.
