There simply was a complete lack of evidence. Which is likely why the police originally didn’t do anything. Until the payments became public. |

This case wasn’t decided on lack of evidence as to what happened in the room. The judge simply concluded that her consent was valid as it is defined in law. |

Devils in the details but I doubt it. PKane, Giroux, Stoll, Belfour, Varlamov, Tochhet, Corvo ...just to name a few NHLers that got slaps on the wrist for poor morals (and in some cases criminal convictions).
I think the NHL leaves it up to the teams to determine whether they want the potential headaches. Not sure if any of them are worth the risk ...maybe someone gives Hart an AHL contract and lets him get in shape while the noise passes. - The Law
I agree that teams will likely decide if the stench associated with their behaviour is worth whatever value they bring |

Why not?
They were accused of sexual assault and have effectively had their reputations smeared in the eyes of the public.
And for what? Teenaged, drunken sex?
Imagine one of these players was your kid. |

From a PR perspective, 5 guys and one drunken girl is pretty stinky. |

I’ll even go one further: there was a lot of evidence - that supported the players’ story. |

Sorry Jones, their behavior was disgusting. Most of us had teenaged, drunken sex. I doubt it looked like what was presented at the trial.

Thats only for free agency....they do well in the trade market usually.....well at the deadline. |

Also I dont see one huge glaring need. One of the times If they didnt do much, I wouldnt be bothered.
But, you can always use Pitching. So Im sure they add RP and maybe a SP.

If they are serious about a World Series run, they have glaring needs at #1 starter, RP and a power bat.
I just dont think this success can carry in the playoffs without some extra help. |

i see some chatter about Dylan Cease, but he is having a down year by his standards.
Lauer at this point is the "Ace"..which is odd.. but I can get behind adding another top SP
more RP for sure though. |

Would they go to a 6 man rotation? Maybe bring in a banger to go with all the on-base hitting they’re getting now. |

I dont think so, but you never know. but that would mean one less bullpen arm to make room. which is not ideal.
Santandar was supposed to be that. and he still could this season.
but fair point from CB, may need a lot of the assets to add BP arms
Chris Black
@DownToBlack
But more and more and more, it feels like the Jays need at least 2 bullpen arms, if not more.
In terms of throwing guys into postseason baseball, I think there's varying levels of uncertainty with Sandlin, Fisher, Nance, Green, Fluharty, Bruhl & health questions with Yimi.
