Enjoy your ban - Canada Cup
lol
Surprised it hasn’t happened yet. They were much quicker in the past. I did enjoy the peace, though. |

Just checking up side effects for meds for that kind of cancer and their nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. Ugh. Meds suck so bad. |

Tree can't be done, the line up doesn't quite fit yet. Kadri or McCann would be really good options. (sure glad we kept Holl and Kerfoot over McCann and Kadri )
Knies, Matthews, Nylander
Tavares, McCann/Kadri, Domi
Marccelli, Roy, Joshua
Lorentz, Laughton, Boyd
Pezz
McCabe, Tanev
Rielly, Carlo
Benoit, OEL
Cade Webber, Myers
Stoli
Woll
PS, Dakota Joshua has some serious HITS stats, never mind more goals than Marner in the playoffs 23/24
Robertson, Jarnkrok, Kampf, McMann, Easten, Danforth are the trade chips or CAP dumps to make it work I would guess. |

Pretty sure the person banning was the same rogue (likely previous employee) putting links to other hockey forums as postscripts to my comments without my consent.
Maybe it's been figured out.

My best guess ..
Knies-Matthews-Domi
Maccelli-Tavares-Nylander
Joshua-Roy-McMann
Lorentz-Kampf-Laughton
Pezzetta
He's got about $5M in space right now. If he adds a fwd someone will have to move out (Kampf or maybe Domi or McMann) so add that to the space he has to work with.
Jarnkrok's only 775k this year so he should be moveable. Robertson needs a new home. Can't imagine that Robertson, McMann, Kampf and Jarnkrok get you anything more than a couple of mid round picks so I have to think any big addition would have to include Cowan.

I'm a little surprised that it wasn't a player for player type of trade.

Ola Amigos!
Ban lifted - ability to post restored.
Having to see the absolute stupidity Spatso (and other loser haters) posts about the Leafs (see main blog)
Having the ability to respond to said stupidity - priceless? Ok maybe not priceless but pleasant for sure.
Happy Friday!
Also saw this on X and thought it was worth sharing:

We've been watching the leafs try to stack their lines top heavy with nothing to follow while the teams that win have pushed them aside with 4 lines that can hurt you.
Time to spread it out! Need a quality 2C though or it doesn't work. Once you have that every line above has some bite, has some playmaking ability, and 2 guys who can put the puck in the net. |

It’s the peak year for Rielly. He’s an every other year player, and last year was his valley year. Fans will love him again, you watch. |

I like the Roy and Macelli adds, but id have spent the other 4 mil differently. - senstroll
M'eh it takes 2 to tango and I feel like Tre is playing the waiting game for closer to the TDL at this point.
I'm glad he didn't get dumb and overpay big time in early July when FA opened up like some other teams did.
I also think he is not done, even if the next moves are to move some of guys like Robertson, Kampf, Jarnkrok, McMann to free up cap space and NHL roster spots.
Guess we will see.

I hear you but I think those lines lack identity. If they can land a 2C awesome but if not then Tavares slides up. A 3rd line identity has got to be a big, touch checking matchup line that can defend the best and chip in offensively. Roy and Joshua have both done that in the past ....Domi can't defend a lick. He has to be sheltered to be a contributer so I'd have him in the top 6 or out the door. Same for Maccelli ....top 6 or bust.
I think he's done a good job at creating some real potential identity lines in the bottom 6. Roy, Joshua, McMann, Lorentz, Laughton ...all can check and skate. It's really the top 6 that needs another piece. |

And who are you giving up to Seattle to acquire McCann their leading and really only consistent offensive weapon? They dont need prospects and have a plethora of picks. Its the same as Ek rumoring Wright. Its not a trade fit there and leaves them worse off than they already are.
Dont get me wrong, love to have him. Thought we shoulda kept him and let Kerfoot go for that draft but...
This point I think its going to be a 3 horse race with Cowan, Maccelli, and Domi for that spot on top line, or second line if we just move Nylander up into first line.

Agreed.
Top 6: McCann from Seattle or Kadri from the Flames. Both can play center or wing and both can score or someone else but the 2LW/C or 1RW is in question still IMO.
Goalies = Check.
Defense = Check.
Bottom 6 = Check. Really solid now, filled with some big bodies and I like it!
Top 6 = one missing piece, Domi can cover one wing and his D game isn't good so it would have to be with Matthews I guess. Domi becomes the passer...and he's done it on the Matthews line before so a defensively responsible 2LW/C is the missing piece I guess...unless they believe in Marccelli?
Knies, Matthews, Domi
???/Marccelli, Tavares, Nylander
Joshua, Roy, Marccelli/McMann
Lorentz, Laughton, Boyd/Pezz (when did we get Travis Boyd?)
McMann is the only one I would keep for the 3RW spot if Marccelli works in the top 6 but I don't see them going into the season with that many "ifs".

Exactly the problem for Kadri or McCann....and totally agree they should've kept him. (frank) Holl and Kerfoot and DUBAS!
And you make a good point if could be:
Knies, Matthews, Domi
Cowen/Marccelli, Tavares, Nylander

confirming that Mccluskey is an idiot.
Bottom 6'ers ....Reaves, Holmberg, Patches out. Joshua, Roy, Pezzetta in.
Top 6'ers .....Marner out ....Maccelli plus $7-$10M in yet to be spent cap space in. - The Law
Agreed. I have no problem with the post-Marner roster. Just having the cap space to make the sort of TDL trades other teams always seem to be able to pull off is a win.
Everyone goes on about Marner's defense ability, but if you're a 6'2'' winger barreling down the boards with the puck in the playoffs, who are you more worried about stopping you, Marner or Roy/Joshua? |
