If Canucks get Matthew Ward and Peyton Kettles, they have had an excellent draft. |

Wonder if now that they couldn't find a trade with their 1st this year, they'll try and trade for their 3rd next year so they can offersheet someone this offseason. |

strongly agree
haven't read any negative comments about the pick from Canuck 'fans' - which is a miracle in itself |

Weird - I don't like picking a goalie that early.
Granted he did have a great year in London.
Would've rather a trade back to acquire more picks. |

Thank frick they kept the pick. Finally some nice news. Good job Van |

End of Silovs?

Been asking around on #Canucks 2nd-round pick Aleksei Medvedev out of London (OHL), and the consensus seems to be that he’s very talented, but raw.
Late growth spurt, was London’s backup this season. Lot of teams were high on him.
Vancouver hadn’t drafted a goalie since 2022. |

Absolutely - load the Canucks up with Canucks |

Awesome thanks for this Yorky!
It's a great idea to be picking goalies in every draft (if possible) - but that early (2nd round) is unnecessary.
If they extend Demko it has to be at a low $ and term - as he's not proven he deserves it in any way in the last few years.
I'd assume Silovs is gone - his value is the highest its ever been (which isn't a lot) but hopefully a package that brings back a decent top6 Forward. |

Dunno.
Dervin split the 2024–25 season with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL and St. Andrew’s College. In his 10 games with Kingston, he scored a goal and two assists. He played 50 games with St. Andrew’s, tallying 33 goals and 46 assists. In the past two seasons with St. Andrew’s, he scored 48 goals and 78 assists in 99 games.
A 6’1 left-shot center, Dervin hasn’t had much experience in the OHL, but showed flashes of being a solid two-way player while creating offensively. He has committed to Penn State University of the NCAA.
This is a good breakdown on him: https://thehockeywriters....l-draft-prospect-profile/

Could he be the next great Russian goalie? Talking to knights fans an hour ago, he’s phenomenal from what they are saying, they went with the overager in the playoffs though and he learned a lot from him, his net next year and worth following the knights. Trust in Ian Clark he pushed for him. |
