Vegas wouldn’t even trade us Theodore for Marner 😂 - mr.sir
It sounded like there were several pieces coming back but theodore was the main piece
Theodore would have been a great add. |

Marner is linked to Vegas by some "experts".
I don't believe it for a second. - alex.TML
For the next couple of weeks, marner will be linked to a least 5 -8 teams.
I could see him ending up in cali or vegas.
Florida aint happening.
The ultimate shot at the leafs would to sign in boston or Montreal

I can't envision Marner on such heavy team as Vegas, especially for such price.
Montreal looks more realistic. San Jose is also possible. |

Vegas would have to part with a big salary or play (more) LTIR / Cap Shennagins.
I don't see him going to another Canadian team though, to me I think he wants to go somewhere with far less scrutiny that Toronto and where he and his wife can walk their kid down the street and be unrecognized.
That's just my guess though.

If I was Monteal fan I would not want Marner on my team either, but I have a feeling he can end up there somehow.

oh I wouldn't mind if the habs signed him, but the deal would have to make sense (he's gonna be looking for a (frank) ton of money) and he doesn't really correspond to the habs' current needs imho. |

This is exactly the problem, every asset has a right price tag and in Marner case it will cost too much to the team to have him on. |

It may help short term, but I doubt making playoffs is the only goal Montreal has.

In a new setting, maybe with some real leadership on a team....marner could excel .....or continue to do great in the first 4 games of a series. Then others coule pick up the slack....which never seemed to occur here.
What hes done so far in his career doesnt mean he will only do going forward |

Jesus Christ.
Marner is good in the playoffs. You guys on the hate train are smoking something.
any team would do whatever it takes to get MM.
I’m tellin’ ya, the Leafs aren’t a lock to make the playoffs without Mitch. Montreal would be. |

if you minus Mitch and add whoever you spend the money on, the Leafs may drop 3 or 4 standings points..but also could be better.

Depends what JT signs for and if they add any 35+ FAs to performance bonus deals. Could build a much better team...in the short term anyways. |

Im all for letting marner walk, but if you lose a100pt player and replace with a 50pt player.....it may be more than just 3- 4 standing points.
But hopefully marners money is spent on two players. |

The Leafs had the second highest SV% goalie in the NHL and a guy in the top percentile. That's the thing they need to keep. The scoring and points would and will be great, but we've never had such good goaltending in Leafs history as a duo and never in recent times. |

nah, they can add 2 players and the impact is minimal.
I feel like some fans think a player like Marner gets you 15 points in the standings. they suddenly go from 108 to 93, but it doesnt work that way. maybe Mcdavid is 15 points, but he is the best player by a mile
but all that matters is building a better team that can work hard in playoffs. Marner isnt that 14mil player, we tried

Strong defence forces teams to take low % shots which equates to better goalies stats.
MM is a big reason for that.
You aren’t going to replace Marner’s 200ft game unless you get Barkov or Hischer, and at this point MM is better than both of those guys. |

Yes, he is good in playoffs, but his contribution is nowhere nearly close to someone, who consumes $14+ M from the salary cap.
It is not like people don't like Marner, they just understand the other players have to be paid too. |
